15. Chaos At Best #2

The elevator doors opened, but he refused to step in, steering us around toward the exit. “Just stick me in the truck or the horse trailer. I’ll sleep there in the parking lot under a sky full of cold Montana stars. Give you two the room.”

We protested, to be nice, but he insisted.

Outside, we steered him around a parking barrier, and eventually got him into the double cab of Ash’s truck.

“Hey Ivy, you know what? You’ll never find a better man than this guy right here.” Knox grabbed me in a headlock and ruffled my hair. “So don’t hurt him. Treat him right because he loves you.”

I escaped him, turning a shade of pink probably no man should. “It’s nighttime for you, buddy. Lay down. We’ll find you in the morning.”

“Tell Daisy for me that…” whatever else he said mumbled and jumbled and made little sense at all.

Ivy chortled, and I tossed a blanket over him and cracked a window. His first snore echoed into the night before I got the door shut.

“Well, that was interesting.” She rubbed her arms as we headed back inside.

“In case you couldn’t tell, he’s got it bad for your sister.”

“You think?” She tilted her head. “Maybe he needs to get over her and move on. I just feel bad for him.”

“He’s a good guy. Maybe she should give him a chance.” I brought her into my side, into my warmth before this night went way off course. “Look, let’s not argue about them, okay?”

“I agree. They’re adults who can figure out their own problems.”

“I’m just glad you’re not running in the other direction because of anything he said. I mean, we just started. This can’t be love yet, right?” I fumbled. Yep, I had feelings for her, confusing ones I wasn’t ready to name yet. Didn’t need Knox claiming them for me before I was ready.

“I know better than to take a drunk man’s words to heart, Calhoun.” She crossed her arms as we came up to the elevators.

“Great. Guess he ruined the mood, huh?” I pressed the up arrow on the elevator.

She sighed. “No. The night is still young. You have time yet to redeem it. So you’d better make the next few hours count.” She faced me and ended on a sultry whisper, her mouth on mine. My cock stood at full attention.

The elevator doors opened, we stepped in, and that was as far as my patience went, pressing her against the wall.

I held nothing back—my mouth hard and urgent, pushing her hands above her head, holding her wrists there.

With my knuckles, I traced down the side of her body; I swallowed her moans.

By the time the doors hit our floor, we were gasping for air.

We walked fast to my room. Halfway down the long hall I flung her over my shoulder and ran, laughing the rest of the way.

I swiped the keycard twice before it worked because she distracted me with giggles and spanked my ass.

When the door finally gave way, we went through it together. I kicked it shut behind us.

Before the lock clicked, her back was against it, my hands bracing on either side of her. Her pulse raced under my lips where I pressed them to her throat. Her fingers worked at the buttons on my flannel, until she got frustrated and tore it apart with a yank, buttons flying.

“I’ll get you a new one from my shop,” she breathed, frantic to get me naked, clawing at my undershirt.

I tore it off, and at last, her hands caressed my bare chest and abs. She moaned my name and dismantled what was left of my self-control.

“All I could think about since the cabin was a repeat, doing everything to your body,” I admitted, and raised her sweater overhead. I drew her nipple into my mouth through the red lace bra, same color as her sweater, teasing it to a peak.

“You’ve been on my mind, too. Obsessively.

” She kicked off her boots and attacked the zipper of her jeans.

She managed to push them and her panties down her thighs where I took over, stripping them off the rest of the way past her ankles.

It earned me the beautiful sight of her trimmed pussy.

I inhaled her sweetness and went in for a taste, her fingers threading my hair.

Her thigh lifted on my back, pulling me in deeper, smothering me until I couldn’t stand another minute not being inside her.

“Need to take you right here. Right fucking now.” I shoved my jeans down as far as needed, and I lifted her until I’d positioned myself perfectly at her opening.

“Yes. Do it, Calhoun.”

Her legs wrapped around my waist, and my brain surrendered without a fight. I thrust into her hard, groaning at the tight, wet fit.

“Fuck, Wylde, you take me so good.”

“Take you anywhere. All night long,” she purred against my mouth, her lips finding my jaw, my cheek, like she was memorizing the landscape of my face.

The tight heat of her took me under immediately. I set a rhythm, watching her face for what worked. Her head fell back against the door. Her nails dug into my shoulders. I pressed deeper, adjusted the angle until she gasped and her hips rolled against mine.

That was the place. I kept it there, pulsing, letting her get off on me.

Her legs and arms adjusted, holding on tight, as she moaned and cursed, getting louder.

She reached down and strummed her clit, clenching around my cock.

I drove into her harder, keeping the unrelenting pace, until she cried out and went taut against the door, her fingers white-knuckled on my shoulders.

“Look at me,” I demanded.

She did. Blue eyes now dark, her bottom lip caught between her teeth.

I held her gaze and rolled my hips once, twice more, and then watched her come apart, her eyes rolling back into her head.

She shattered all around me, my name in the middle of her moans.

I growled and followed her over, spilling everything I had into her.

It left both of us trembling, my arms holding her against the door the only reason we were still vertical.

We were a mess. Then we started laughing, breathless and out-of-control. Who knew what was funny? Everything, maybe. The whole situation of us, this night, and our friends.

But enough about them. I carried her to the bed and then returned to the door to retrieve her red boots.

She continued to giggle as I put them back on her feet.

She held her legs spread in the air by her bootstraps, inviting me in.

Without a care about our releases mixing, I buried my face between her legs, fingers too, earning another orgasm for her.

Then I flipped her around, planted her hands on the headboard, and took her from behind, collapsing at last after I came again.

“I’m really fucking happy you came with me on this date,” I chuckled, out of breath.

“Worth it,” she breathed with a relaxed grin, her chest heaving under my weight.

I shifted onto my back, and we stayed there for some time in the dark with the curtains open, and Bozeman stars and lights glowing faintly through the window.

She eventually kicked off her boots, and we cleaned up.

When we got back to bed, we talked here and there—hypothesizing about the Brewsters, replaying Knox’s face when Daisy threw the drink at him, and worrying about what we presumed would be the awkward drive back tomorrow with them.

Somewhere in the talking, she’d curved herself against my back, her face between my shoulder blades, her arm across my chest. I pulled her hand tighter and held it against my heart.

Her breathing slowed. Her body got heavier against mine. She fell asleep, pressed against me like she’d decided I was something worth holding onto, and the intimacy of that hit me.

Lying in the dark with her arms around me, I threw away the word temporary; it definitely didn’t fit any longer. What we had now was more.

I didn’t say anything. She was asleep. The moment wasn’t one I could do anything with tonight, so I left it where it was and closed my eyes, letting her go on holding me, and tried not to think too hard about what it all meant.
