Sunday morning was currently being a trauma for Rehaan Kazmi. His wife had been going in and out of the closet since an hour trying on her floral dresses one after the other. After each change of clothes she'd look at herself in the mirror of the dresser and frown then go back inside.
The fact that she looked too gorgeous in all of her dresses that were being rejected because she was going to meet the menace Khizer Sultan was making Rehaan's blood boil watching her as he tried to look busy using his laptop on the terrace.
"How much more beautiful does she want to look for that rustic reptile? "
"Rehaan?" She suddenly opened the terrace door and stood midway through the door holding it, "I don't have anything to wear." Then came a small curved pout on her lips that could make him weak regardless of everything else.
"Do you want to go shopping?" The words came out completely opposite to what he actually wanted to say instantly.
"Yes!" She jumped with excitement and leapt towards him, "Will you come?"
"I am taking you." He closed the laptop and stood up.
"But it's okay if you have work and—" He didn't let her finish.
"Let's go." He took her hand and walked out going down to the main entrance he sent a ringer to the basement for a car to be brought to the driveway.
Shahwar was surprised and excited at the same time. They'd never been to any place together around the city. Rehaan had always made Ibaad do the shopping for her and Isabel would restock her beauty products and necessities.
"Can we get ice cream too after shopping?" She said when they were inside the car.
"Sure." Her energy rose higher with a bright smile listening to his response.
They were at the mall soon after and Shahwar went to one of her favorite stores that according to Rehaan looked like had specialized in making floral clothing.
His wife was definitely obsessed. Though Shahwar needed only one to wear for the dinner but now that she was inside the store she wanted to buy everything from the new arrivals.
But then she remembered she herself didn't have the money to get everything.
Reluctantly Shahwar returned a few dresses, tops and skirts to the salesperson and kept three dresses and a top for her final purchase. When she got to the counter for payment Rehaan noticed the huge pile of clothing missing from her hands and immediately felt displeased at the sight.
"Where are the rest?" He knew she'd picked out and tried on many with much enthusiasm a while ago showing each and every piece to him for approval.
"Uh, I don't need them. I like these best." She felt so embarrassed to say it to him.
"You said you liked them all just minutes back Shahwar. Is there a quality issue with this brand?" He didn't know that she was calculating an entire sum to save up for shoes in her mind too.
"No, no." She placed the clothes on the counter and took out her wallet avoiding the conversation.
"Okay, can you go and get me a dress for Iraj, please?" He said taking her wallet from her.
"Oh sure, of course." She nodded and went back to the racks.
"Apportez ceux qu'elle a rendus. Et tout le reste qui est nouveau.
" Rehaan told the manager and within moments shopping bags were filled with everything they had in his wife's size.
When Shahwar came back to Rehaan he'd already taken care of the payments and sent the bags to the car with his driver.
(Bring the ones she returned. And everything else that's new.)
"I think this will look nice on Iraj, what do you think?" He looked at his wife who was smiling and waiting for him to say something.
"Yes, you have the best choice, my darling." He extended his hand around her upper back and held her close. "Thank you."
"Oh it's nothing, please." She moved to make the payment and Rehaan took the garment from her hand, "Your things are in the car." He returned her wallet to her talking as if he used her money to pay. Shahwar nodded happily and Rehaan went forward to get the dress packed.
When she went inside another shop to get her sandals Rehaan had already informed the cashier to use his card for whatever was being purchased by her.
He had to fake a whole story again for her to go and get something for Iraj.
His sister who'd never wear anything bought even by him was being used in his nonexistent acting career right now.
It was almost evening when they went to the gelato bar and she got the ice cream she'd wanted.
Amusement never left his eyes when he saw Shahwar getting a tower of triple scooped cone of chocolate ice cream.
The cone was bigger than her hands and she had to use both her palms to hold it.
"Aren't you going to get one too?" She asked with a light blink.
"You can share yours with me." He was trying to be very suggestive but his wife was too innocent to understand.
"No, no. I want to eat mine, all of it myself. Can you please get one for yourself?" She requested as if to not upset him.
"No, it's okay. I don't like ice cream anyway." He started walking towards the exit and she followed.
When they were on their way back home Shahwar glanced at Rehaan while eating her ice cream. "Are you mad that I didn't share?" His extreme seriousness was making her suspect that.
"Of course not." Rehaan was right now trying to clear his mind from the forthcoming meeting that his wife was about to have with a very young man who didn't appease him one bit.
They got off reaching home and Shahwar stood stunned looking at the bags that were brought in by the house helping staff.
"What is all that?" She pointed to the numerous shopping bags staring at Rehaan and then checked her wallet to find all the cash inside in the same amount that had been before she'd left the house.
"Shahwar. Go and change. You're getting late." He tried avoiding the conversation.
"Rehaan." She suddenly dulled her body with a sad face.
Rehaan closed his eyes and sighed then moved towards her, "What is it?" He held her hands. "Can I not get my wife what I want?"
"I wanted to buy it all myself." Shahwar replied.
"Even if you were earning more than me, darling, it would still be me to get whatever my wife wants for her.
It's not about you having less money or me having more.
It's about me wanting to do it always.
" She knew money was nothing to him. She had a lot of it that was left for her from her father too.
Though she'd only ever tried spending the money she earned herself.
And everything her husband ever did for her always made her more and more prone to being in love with him as time passed by.
"Thank you." She pursed her lips.
"I don't want a thank you."
"What do you want then?" Shahwar could never guess what his desire was.
"Something else. More practical."
"Cheesecake?" Rehaan's thoughts ran out of the room at her guess.
"Shahwar, go and change." He was hating how beautiful she'd look only for the reptile to see.
She went to her room and came out wearing a white skirt and a red floral strapped top paired with her blocked heels. Rehaan had been in the library when Shahwar left with the driver. She wanted him to see how she looked but not finding him anywhere near she went out to the car.
As hours went by after another and then it was midnight, Shahwar was still not back from her dinner meetup with her guy friend, Rehaan became restless and then decided to go and see for himself where she was instead of waiting further.
Asking the driver where he'd dropped her he found out that Shahwar had later left with Khizer in his car to see the Eiffel Tower. His wife was at the global lover's point with that man, that was enough for him to lose his calm and storm out of the house.
Poor Khizer is being called a reptile.?? Kazmi, you jealous man.
