Bonus Chapter
"Reenu, come let's go upstairs, baba will be late I think." Shahwar sat on the floor looking at her eleven months old crawler daughter who was sitting near the entrance door waiting for it to open and see her father enter.
It was ten in the night now and Rehaan had not returned home yet.
He had not ever once after her birth worked after six in the evening and would immediately head home to his most precious child.
His daughter. Even the child herself was so used to her father being home on time that she'd eventually start sitting near the doors of whichever room she'd be in knowing a minute before her father would even enter.
Shehriyar was obediently changed into his sleeping clothes and was in bed by now. Though none of the family members ever slept before Rehaan would come. He was just late today. Pretty late.
Shahwar sighed at the sight of her daughter turning to look at her in small turns and then chewing her own hand frequently making sounds not moving from her position.
She knew if she would pick Shahreen up and take her to the bedroom then her daughter wouldn't object or cause fuss as her she was just like her, coincidence for both her kids had been a change of events for Rehaan Kazmi as they had completely taken after his wife.
Even the physical features were identical. Eyes being the exception. Shehriyar had his father's eyes and Shahreen had her grandfather's, Siraj Kazmi's green eyes.
When their daughter was born Rehaan Kazmi had decided to multiply his employees salaries into three times.
It had not been the same when Shehriyar was born though.
He had been in complete shock standing in the labor room when the doctor kept on congratulating them for having a boy he had not been able to blink holding his own son in his arms. Shahwar had to pull him out of his blankness by calling his name out, and just once had been enough for that moment.
He had then stared into the eyes of his child and kissed his head.
Apparently, Rehaan had thought that since his son was exactly like his wife, his daughter would take after him.
He had been so wrong on that regard. The child was again another Shahwar reborn.
Sensitive, loving and beautiful. She wouldn't cry, disturb or try to throw tantrums like kids would, Shery had been the same as well.
They both had never really had any tough time being parents of newborns or toddlers either.
The children were like their mother. Never demanding.
Despite of it all, Rehaan had only ever tried to spoil his daughter.
It still never seemed to happen. Ever since she had come into their life, Shahwar and Shehriyar believed the man Rehaan Kazmi would turn into a completely different man around her.
He would even use a different voice to speak with her.
It hadn't been the same with the first born.
Clearly everyone could see who was the most important to him.
Shahreen's babbling increased a little and Shahwar knew Rehaan was about to enter now, which he did, "Reenu, come I'm here.
" He announced the moment he stepped in and she crawled hurriedly but Rehaan caught her before she could go to him.
"My darling, baba ki jaan, how are you! I missed you so much!
I'm so late today, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, were you waiting for baba?
" Kisses overflowing on her face from her father she just rested her head staring at him calmly.
The man of few words had transformed into a big chatterbox when his daughter was in his arms or around him. The latter was never a possibility because she would only be in his arms if he was there. He would not let her even move around on her own, he had to hold her at all times.
"You must be tired," Shahwar tiptoed herself a little above to kiss his head while he held his daughter, "Lie down for a bit I'll bring the dinner for you." She moved back down and turned to go to the kitchen but he held her hand.
"I missed you," He bent and kissed her cheek and neck lightly sliding his hand around her waist and holding his child in the other one, "How was your day?"
"I'm okay." She smiled at him.
"I got stuck with the meeting with some—never mind." Brief and short responses for his wife as usual.
"Please go and rest, you look tired. She's not going to sleep anytime soon anyway, I'm getting the food." She shook her head and went to ask Isabel to send their dinner to their room.
Rehaan went to the bedroom and laid down on the bed with Shahreen.
She sat and first tried to play with his watch till it turned into a mission for her to eat it but she failed as she wasn't able to put in much force to even take it off from his hands.
He just laid watching her with a big smile and when she moved to his chest and tried to talk the most he knew what she wanted.
The television remote control. Her new favorite toy.
Of all the toys, from the most expensive and luxurious shops in the world that he had bought for her she only liked to play with the remote control, her most favorite recently and the phone's torchlight.
Not sparing a second more he picked up the remote extending his hand to the side table and gave it to her.
Showing her happiness she giggled loudly and started pressing the buttons on it, then looked up at the screen if it changed its display.
After few more attempts she finally pressed the power button and the screen turned on.
A much livelier laugh came and Rehaan kissed her cheeks.
She then started to press buttons changing the channels, increasing volume or doing something else and anytime the screen's audio or video would change she would rotate her hands in a small dance.
Rehaan Kazmi didn't need any sleep or rest if he could watch his daughter all day. He had felt the same watching his wife before his kids were born too.
Shahwar entered the room and saw the great spectacle of her routine, "Mil gaya remote Reenu ko." Rehaan pulled his wife to him on the bed, "Look who's the happiest person on earth, my Reenu!" She bent forward and kissed her head.
(Reenu has got the remote.)
"Shery is asleep?" Rehaan sat up when he realized he hadn't seen him tonight.
"No, he's in his room. Awake on the bed." She told him and Rehaan was close to face palm himself.
"I'll go and see him." He pushed himself forward to hold her face in his hands, "I'm so sorry I kept you all waiting tonight, so sorry jaan."
"It's alright, why are you apologizing," His face went down on her chest resting his forehead on her bare skin of her neck, "Don't say sorry." She kissed his neck.
"I'll be right back with my jaans. Teesri jaan must be close to start crying now." Rehaan straightened himself and got up shaking his head at the sight of his son sniffing under his blanket in his mind.
(Teesri jaan: third love)
"Shery." He called out opening his bedroom door and found him holding his blanket that was spread to his chest on the bed.
"Baba!" He pushed his blanket down and sat up folding his legs with a bright smile.
He walked to him and then sat down taking him in his arms, "Did you have dinner?"
"I didn't." He told him with head shake.
"Why is that?" Rehaan felt awful knowing what time it was at night and it was way past his son's bedtime too.
"You weren't home." He replied.
"Don't do that again, you can't stay hungry ever again for so long." His hands brushed his almost six year old's hair.
"But you are hungry too. I was worried about you." Shery's small and dainty hands held his father's face.
Hugging him tightly as an automated response he kissed his head, "Meri jaan! I'm sorry, I'm getting your dinner and then you're going to sleep, you've got school tomorrow."
Rehaan snuck out of the room and came back with a food tray for his son. He fed him the whole meal and then tucked him fully into his bed.
"I love you baba." Shery was now ready to sleep.
"I love you more." He bent down and kissed his head, "Good night."
"Good night baba." Rehaan switched off the lights leaving a lamp on as his son never slept in complete darkness then left the room as Shery closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Going back to his bedroom where Shahwar and Reenu were lying on the bed, as his daughter was now playing with her tiny stuffed bear which would have been ripped apart if she had all her teeth grown out by now as she was mostly munching it.
"Khizer called me today." His smiled got wiped off within a second at the disclosure from his wife.
"The reptile?" He rolled his eyes and she gasped at him.
"Rehaan." She frowned and got up from the bed, but it didn't really affect him at the moment.
"Why? Does he want to die at my hands now?" He asked standing in front of her.
"Maalik iss umar mien kyun aap aisi baatien kar rahay hain?" Her chuckle was only miserably suppressed by her lips pressed together. Hearing the laugh even his daughter laughed copying her mother.
(Maalik, why are you saying such things at this age?)
"Iss umar? What do you mean?" Rehaan spoke in a serious tone.
(This age?)
"You'll soon be forty." She had never ever annoyed her husband but now was a good time.
"I'm thirty eight." He emphasized.
"That's why I'm telling you to be cautious now. You don't need behave rashly." She held his shoulders and did her best to advise him with a smile.
He first pulled her against his body and then held her waist almost pressing his whole strength to her, "Is that so Mrs Kazmi?
I'll tell you all about 'rashly' tonight.
" Taking full advantage of the position he kissed her collarbone and then lowered to her cleavage but then stopped knowing his child was still in the room, though it was hard to ignore his wife's tempting floral scent.
Shahwar giggled when he stepped back shaking his head like a very responsible man and then he kissed her head carrying her to the bed.
"Khizer is getting married, he invited us." She told him when they had finished their dinner inside the bedroom.
Big wide smirk launched itself on his face, "Good for him, now I'll block his number."
"Maalik, that's very rude." Shahwar's response made his daughter say something in her own voice at the same time too.
"Does my Reenu want to block his number too?" Rehaan nodded at his daughter and kissed her cheeks.
"She doesn't, she wants to go to his wedding in Islamabad." Shahwar pouted looking at them.
"Then we shall go." He could never refuse his wife.
"Rehaan." She stroked his hair as he was lying on the bed.
"Yes?" He looked at her stunning big brown eyes.
"I love you." She bent over his face and kissed him, only letting her lips brushing over his a little.
"Not more than me." He took her lips back on his and did the intense version of hers, "I love you the most, meri jaan."
