Chapter Thirty Six
August Eighteenth
Wolfgang
After settling into their new routine, he was happy, he loved having June at his place, their place. The last few days he had a thought and Wolfgang got curious.
He was wondering if juniper still had an account since she left and came back. He assumed she did since her chip worked but wondered about the information and if her ex boyfriend was still noted on it.
After the job he had worked on, he went out to his Jeep and pulled out his tablet to find her account.
Everything looked the same except for her address, he quickly changed it to his and tapped on her notes.
The same bullet points were there, seamstress, no living family, abusive ex boyfriend. The last one caught his eye, terminated pregnancy.
Wolfgang read it several times and then checked the last time her account had been edited, it dated back to May. He was curious, angry and wondered why June had never told him.
He looked at the date again, May sixteenth. June had been given the memory loss injection on May Thirteenth, he watched them take her from him that moment. Was Margaret behind this?
Did June know? If she remembered everything, wouldn't she remember a whole pregnancy? Wolfie started his Jeep and steered it towards Margaret's office, he wanted to talk to her anyway.
"Hello," Atlee the receptionist greeted him, "I don't think we have any tickets open for repairs?"
"I'm here to talk to Margaret and no, she isn't expecting me." He ran his hand along his fresh haircut.
Atlee picked up the phone, "Margaret, Wolfgang is here to speak with you. Okay." She hung the phone up.
"She's available," her palm gestured to the back.
"Thank you." He trailed behind her desk and down the hall reaching her open office door.
"Wolfgang, how are you? What can I help you with?"
He closed the door behind him, "Margaret, I wanted to talk to you about something I found out."
“What is it?”
Brushing his hair back he exhaled and locked eyes with Margaret, “Was Juniper pregnant?”
Her eyes grew as her forehead crinkled, "Wolfgang, that is confidential information.”
“Aren’t we struggling to repopulate the island? And where was my say in this?”
He paced the room.
“Wolfgang, I understand your anger but we couldn’t send someone back with a child, with no clue who the father is.”
“You could have had a surrogate, I've seen you do it before.”
His voice heightened.
"I'm sorry Wolfgang, the surrogate list was empty. Can we make it up to you?”
She didn't look at him.
"Margaret, nothing will fix this.”
he sat across from her.
She grabbed a tissue, dabbed her eye and Wolfgang's heart sank. He hated seeing Margaret cry, she was like an aunt or grandmother to him. He's known her his whole life. He stood, circled her desk and pulled her up to him. "Margaret, don’t."
She sniffed, "I hate that I instructed it to be done. Can I do anything to help you? "
He thought for a moment and sat her back down, “Yes.”
Juniper
Wolfgang had messaged Juniper earlier that day asking her to go out tonight. She had come home showered, gotten ready and was waiting for him. She sat on their couch, reflecting on everything they've been through until now. She was happy, she was safe and she was back on her healing journey. The roar of the motorcycle grew outside.
He had turned that in to his daily driver and passed the Jeep over to Juniper. The front door beeped and opened with Wolfgang stepping in with a new bundle of flowers.
She stood to greet him. "Hey, beautiful," he leaned down and kissed her while pulling her in by the waist.
"Let me freshen up and we can go." She pulled the bouquet from his hands as he walked to the room, "I was thinking of dinner, just us two."
"That sounds good." She turned to put the flowers in the vase.

Wolfgang held the door open for Juniper as she stepped outside of the restaurant, "I want to go up to our spot." He called behind her.
June smiled at him, "Okay, but I'm driving this time."
"Shit." He mumbled with a smirk as he held her door open. She stopped to look at his new tattoo healed, a juniper twig with berries on the inside of his forearm and he closed the driver door, getting in on the passenger side shortly after. Down the road Juniper peeled the Jeep off the asphalt and on the dirt path. No wonder he drove like that, this was fun. She pulled up to the clearing and put the vehicle in park.
"That was not as bad as I thought it was going to be." He opened his door and sped for hers helping her out. She set both feet on the ground and Wolfie mirrored her, holding her arms comforting her. "I found something out today and it's going to be a lot to take in, so bear with me.”
He sighed, “I looked up your file today and I feel like you should know this. Before you left the island, you were pregnant."
June's face pushed back, tightening, momentarily speechless, “What?”
"They terminated your pregnancy before you left."
"What?" she was shocked.
"June, you were pregnant before you left in May." He repeated himself.
She looked for an answer in his eyes, “How do you know?”
“Old habits are hard to kill, I looked up your file to update information and saw one of your notes. The week you were still on the island, unconscious, they aborted our baby.”
June’s eyes glistened, "Are you serious? I didn't think I could have kids. Is she allowed to do that?"
“Yes, I’m sorry,”
He kissed her hand, "Well," the corner of his mouth rose, "seems like that ex of yours was also shooting blanks, thank god."
She began putting pieces together, “That’s why my period came back.”
“I guess so,”
He pulled her chin to him with a kiss. "I also wanted to show you something."
He guided her to the middle of the clearing, standing behind her and looked out over the valley. “June, I got approved for a piece of property, the one we are standing on, I want to build a house so you can grow old here, I’m sorry it's not a hut.”
“Really?”
She turned to him with a smile. “We can have our own cabin?”
“Yes.”
He stepped back and dropped to a knee, “Juniper, I love you and the moment I met you I was head over heels for you. You’ve seen me at my worst and this is my best. Will you ruin the rest of my life and marry me?”
June's lip trembled, holding her smile, “Yes.”
She looked at the ring. “Where did you get this?”
“Pat gave it to me before we left,”
He slid it onto her finger, “It's my grandmother's.”
“It’s beautiful.”
She looked at it again on her finger. “I love you.”
Her eyes followed him as he caught her on the way up with a kiss. His hands sliding into her hair holding onto her kiss.
Wolfgang’s lips pushed her back to the Jeep. Her hands against his back, she dragged his body into her. His hands slinked lower and she felt his hands grip next to the zipper of her dress, “stop!”
She stepped back and pulled the zipper down, letting the dress drop around her ankles and exposed all of herself to their new property.
“I knew you weren't wearing anything under that.”
He grinned looking at her body before wrapping his hands around her to feel her bare skin.
“You’re catching on.”
His body pummeled into her, picking her up by her legs.
He pinned her against her Jeep and she sharply inhaled feeling the cool metal against her back, “Careful.”
Her lips freed as he kissed her neck.
“Right. The last time I did that I dented the side.”
His eyes met back with hers. “Are you ready to be Juniper Montgomery?”
“Yes.”
June heaved her chest into his, unbuttoning his top and exposing his chest as he removed the sleeves of his nice shirt. He supported her against his Jeep, boxing her in with his arms. She worked on his belt and then his pants, tugging them down until she freed him and looked up at him with dark eyes.
He watched her and then picked her up by her thighs as she jumped onto him, repinning her against her Jeep. Her back slapped against the metal once, as her legs spread more welcoming him in. His hands and hips supported her, as her calves grazed against his back side with each thrust and her hands hung over his shoulders and down his back.
Her panting turned into soft moans and June’s nipples rubbed against his chest, feeling the pattern of his chest hair. He continued his rhythm looking her in the eyes and roughly kissed her. “Fuck.”
He groaned before slowing down and pulled back, setting her bare feet on the ground. “Consider the property christened.”
He took a deep breath and leaned back onto the Jeep to support himself while he took another sweet kiss. “And my cardio for the day.”
August Nineteenth
Wolfgang
He opened the door to his mothers house with June behind her. He was all smiles since he snuck in yesterday and took the ring without Marilyn knowing. Sharing this experience with his mom excited him since she had begged him for years to settle down. “Mom?”
“Back here!”
She shouted from the patio. The two ladies had set up the spread on the table and Zeppelin flew off into the yard, excited to run.
“Hi mom.”
He hugged and kissed her and then Amy.
“Hi Marilyn.”
June hugged her as well.
“You should probably start calling her mom now.”
He looked towards June and Marilyn.
Marilyn looked at him confused. “What?”
“Mom,”
He smirked with a twinkle in his eyes, “She said yes.”
Mailyns mouth gaped open and her eyes filled with emotion before pulling at June’s hand and seeing her mother's ring. She let out a chuckle as happy tears fell, “Yes, call me mom.”
She hugged June tighter than she had ever before.
“I want to see,”
Amy declared from her seat.
June passed her hand down the table, “When?”
Mom asked.
“Well, that’s another thing. Money is going to be tight because Margaret approved us for a piece of land on the west hill, so we are also building a house.”
Marilyn’s brow lifted, “Are you serious?”
“Yes, so it may be a year or two, we would like to have the ceremony up there anyway.”
“This is all so exciting!”
She smiled at both of them.
