Six months later

Iwas finally a free woman! Leaving the house was no longer an issue.

We didn’t have to look over our shoulders anymore.

The cost of my freedom was in exchange of Grim’s.

I still couldn’t believe that Wicked actually agreed to take that man’s daughter and marry her off to Grim.

My brother was pissed the fuck off when they told him that bullshit.

Grim stormed off and disappeared, and we hadn’t seen him since.

He was still out there putting his artwork on the side of buildings, but he wasn’t dealing with the family at the moment. I didn’t blame him either.

Ghost decided that he was going to stick around town now that we were getting married, and we weren’t having the traditional wedding either. I was fine with just my family and his. We didn’t need a lot as long as we had each other.

Now that he was staying, Savion promoted him to CFO of Blackveil. My baby was making major moves and major bank. I knew Savion only did that so that he could spend more time at home with his family.

As for Luxury Acquisitions, we were still running smoothly. There were no more fakes being sold on the behalf of the company. Dominic finally got his hands on the painting that he’d been searching for. All that mess was finally behind us, and Ghost and I could focus on our relationship.

The last six months had been the best time of my life. I got to spend every moment with my best friend. Today, we were finally getting married. I’d chosen this small venue. Everything was done by Solei. She had it so beautiful that I couldn’t even complain.

The dress I found was gorgeous as hell. I stumbled upon this local dressmaker who did some fire ass work. I told her I wanted a vintage style dress, and baby girl delivered. Shout-out to Waverly for really coming through for me.

Standing there in the mirror, I stared at my reflection.

The gown was an ivory masterpiece. A breathtaking combination of delicate lace and intricate craftsmanship.

It was strapless with a sweetheart neckline dipped gently between my breasts, and a corset style top that hugged my curves.

A daring high slit cut through the voluminous skirt, while the train swept behind me.

It was so detailed that I knew Waverly took her time making it.

The knock at the door grasped my attention. Ma poked her head inside. “It’s time, baby girl.”

“Okay.”

I took one final look at myself and then followed her out the door.

As we strolled down the hallway, I swear I never thought that I would’ve made it to this point.

All hope for me getting married was lost. Somewhere along the lines, I started to accept my fate.

Maybe a loving man and marriage wasn’t for me.

I had never stopped believing in love; I just thought that I’d never genuinely have it for myself.

We stopped at the door where Daddy was waiting for me. “You look beautiful,” he said and pecked me on the cheek.

Ma eased the door open and slipped inside to take her seat, leaving me out here with Daddy.

“You ready?”

I nodded. Not long after, I heard the violinist on the opposite side of the door.

Daddy grabbed the door and opened it. Standing at the end of the aisle was my man dressed in ivory as well.

To see him in something other than black was strange, but I can definitely get used to it.

Soon as his eyes landed on me, a smile tugged at his lips.

I was really about to marry the one man that made me feel safe.

The man that made my nervous system rest. My nervous system chose him before I ever did.

I took a risk on love. And after a lifetime of fighting battles I never asked for, I finally found a love worth surrendering to. I was love’s strongest solider.

The end.
