Interlude - Victor - He Knows Where They Are

Victor didn't need a scout to tell him.

He didn't need a spell to confirm it.

He knew.

The moment the circle broke.

The moment she commanded the pack.

The moment she spoke to him without fear.

She would go back.

Not to Silverwood.

Not to hide.

But to the only place that could answer the questions now waking inside her.

Goldenthorn.

Victor stood over a table scattered with old maps, fingers resting on a faded section of parchment that most people believed was only legend now.

Thomas watched him carefully.

"You think she knows where she's going?"

Victor's jaw tightened.

"She doesn't have to know. Her blood will take her there."

He tapped the map.

"She will feel it. Just like her mother did."

Thomas frowned. "And when she gets there?"

Victor's expression darkened.

"She will start remembering everything."

A pause.

"And that is when she becomes truly dangerous."

He straightened slowly.

"Prepare the men."

Thomas hesitated. "We follow?"

Victor's eyes were cold.

"She's walking straight into it."
