30. Chapter 30 #3
I turn his chin toward me with a finger and kiss him. Slowly. Deliberately.
The room fades, until it’s just him, his mouth softening under mine, then answering, his hand sliding up to my chest.
We break apart after only a few seconds, but the smile on his face tells me everything I need to know. I lift our joined hands off my lap and kiss our intertwined fingers before setting them on the table so everyone can see that I’m here with Torin. And he’s here with me.
He relaxes after that. We talk and kiss and ignore everyone around us. He asks about the bars I go to in Texas and tells me some of his favorite memories of going out dancing with Freya.
“On that note,” I say, “does this place have a dance floor? I can’t show you my sweet moves sitting at this table.”
“Aye, it’s in the back,” he says, pointing to a door on the other side of the room, “but I need another drink before I can—”
I’m already on my feet, pulling him up with me.
We push through the crowd, heat building as the music grows louder, the bass heavier.
In the nightclub space, lights strobe, the beat hits harder, vibrating through my chest. The DJ is bobbing his head in his booth, and I’m happy to see a few brave souls already on the dance floor.
A shirtless cocktail server comes over with a tray of some kind of purple shot. Between the noise and his accent, I can’t tell what it is.
“Alcohol?” I yell.
A laugh and a nod confirm.
I grab two, hand one to Torin, and we throw it back. It tastes like sweet cough syrup. I pass the guy some cash, grab Torin’s hand again, and drag him onto the dance floor.
Bodies move around us, loose and unselfconscious, and I turn back to my handsome date with a grin. My hands find his waist, pulling him in close, his body slotting against mine like it belongs there.
“You’ve had another drink!” I shout into his ear. “Now, please, dance with me!”
I give him a quick kiss as additional incentive, then let him go and move to the music.
I’m not great, but I don’t care. I roll my shoulders, shift my hips, let the beat take over, laughing under my breath when I see him still standing there, watching, arms crossed, that amused, assessing look on his face like he’s deciding whether to join in or just enjoy the show.
I shimmy back toward him. “What do you think?”
He leans into my ear, breath warm against my skin, and yells, “That is more or less how I would assume a reindeer dances.”
I laugh, kissing him again. I said I’d give him a million, and I plan to make good on it. “Still want to be seen with me?” I ask, giving him an exaggerated hip wiggle that would make any dad at a wedding proud.
“Aye,” he says in my ear, and I can hear the amusement in his voice, even with the speakers blaring. “You’re still the hottest man in the room. Even when you’re doing… whatever this is.”
I grin into the next kiss, unable to stop it, and this time he moves.
Not well, not even close, but my God, he moves.
Our foreheads bump as he sways into me, grinning widely, his hands finding my sides.
We pull away, and it turns into a competition to be the weirdest dancer.
I hit the sprinkler. He raises the roof.
I switch to a lawnmower. He attempts something that might be the cabbage patch.
We’re both terrible. It’s incredible. Each ridiculous escalation ends the same way, back in each other’s space, laughing, breathless, kissing to reset before stepping back to kick it up another notch.
“See,” I say, pulling him to me again, “Told you we’d have fun tonight. You and me.”
“You and me,” he says back.
Then we’re kissing again. Hands wandering. We’re still swaying, but we’re not dancing now. It’s all friction and heat and sweat. I press in, rock hard. He answers, bulge throbbing as our tongues entwine.
Time goes by, the crowd grows, lights wheel around the room. I barely notice the bodies jostling against us or the changing songs.
Like I told Torin, it’s just the two of us.
He finally breaks our kiss and puts his lips to my ear. “Are you ready,” he says, voice rough, “to make good on your promise? To take me to your bed and show me what I was missing before you?”
My cock throbs in my jeans, and I grit my teeth to keep from groaning.
I want to get him naked and make every part of him tingle in pleasure.
I want that. I want him. Right now. But underneath something flickers, the familiar pattern.
The part where everything builds to this point, where hands and mouths and bodies lead inevitably to bed, and then just as inevitably, lead to silence once we’re finished.
I should say something, slow things down, but what I see strips the rest of my hesitation away. His eyes are dark, blown wide with lust, fixed on me. Eyes that I’m determined to send rolling back into his head before the night is done.
My hips grind against him involuntarily, my body’s needs pushing my fears aside. I grab his ass, pulling his body flush with mine, then put my mouth to his ear, my voice wrecked with want and need.
“Fuck. Yes.”
