MYRA

Myra paced back and forth in the cell, her heart pounding and palms slick with sweat. Soon, her steps would likely form grooves along the ground as her anxiety rose if she had to wait much longer.

Laurince had said he would see what he could do, but what if he was pulled away? What if he was discovered?

With each passing minute, another worry surfaced. Unable to take it anymore, she pressed her back against the wall and slid down to the floor.

She could only hope that time and the gods were on her side for once.
