The Time of My Life
Prologue
SIX MONTHS EARLIER
Moonlight cast itself across the carpet as Carrie drained her coffee mug.
On the sofa, she’d almost finished reading after her hectic late shift.
Not much of a magazine fan, Carrie hadn’t been able to resist this one from the corner shop, published on her mum’s birthday with a photo of Madonna on the front.
A guy once told Mum she looked like her.
She’d come home from work and made a conical bra out of a cardboard contoured apple tray, strutting around the lounge in time to the song ‘Vogue’. How the two of them had laughed.
It was early morning, still dark, still quiet, but week by week, this last year, Carrie had found it increasingly difficult to sleep before dawn. She stared at photos of high-fashion dresses and beautiful models with perfect skin and high cheekbones. She turned the page.
Life for Sale!
We catch up with the man who sold his life on eBay!
His house, belongings, car, a trial at his job, an introduction to his friends, even the dog!
How much did he get and where is he now?
Who bought his life?
Read on to find out!
Shaking her head, Carrie tucked the magazine under her arm and got up to put it in the trash. The story had to be sensationalised. Who on earth would be desperate enough to sell their life, including friends and a pet? She picked up her mug and headed into the kitchen.
