Chapter 7 The Nurses Talk
Qin Xiao was sent into the emergency room.
Four hours later, they finally wheeled him out.
Director Wang glanced at me and asked Yang Fen in a low voice:
"What is wrong with your son? He has a wife, and he still likes stuffing things up his butt.
"If your son really likes men, hurry up and divorce the girl. Is he not wasting someone else's time?"
Yang Fen heard that and jumped up.
She slapped Director Wang across the face and cursed.
"What kind of damn doctor are you? My son is fine. What rumors are you making up? You are the one who likes men. Your whole family likes men.
"I think this doctor's heart is crooked. My son is that handsome. Did you take a fancy to my son and slander him on purpose?
"I am telling you. If my son is fine, that is good. If something happens to him, I will sue your hospital until it shuts down."
Director Wang's fists clenched until they creaked. He still did not strike.
It looked like there was no normal way to talk with a shrew like Yang Fen. He left, as if he had swallowed the bad luck.
That sounded right to me.
A madwoman like that. I figured anyone tangled up with her would come away stinking.
After we got back to the ward, the nurses were talking among themselves.
"So disgusting. I have seen someone stuff in a Cucumber. I have seen a light bulb. I have never seen a lobster."
"Too perverted. This is absolutely the wildest thing I have ever seen. The scene was too bloody."
"You do not even know. I heard that when Director Wang was operating, his face went white as a sheet. He almost threw up."
Yang Fen snatched the apple on the table and hurled it.
She stood in the doorway with her hands on her hips and shouted.
"You gossips, every one of you. What nonsense are you talking? Say any more and I will pull your tongues out."
She saw me stay still, like I was watching a show. Yang Fen rushed over and shoved me.
"Do you not see they are all bad-mouthing your Husband? Why are you not stopping them?"
I shrugged, helpless.
"The mouths grow on other people's bodies. What can I do?
"What matters most right now is hiring a male Caregiver to look after Qin Xiao. It is not convenient for you to look after him, and I am not that strong."
Yang Fen shot me a look and shot back.
"I am his Mom. What is inconvenient about me looking after him?"
I stared at her with wide eyes.
"You are not still planning to help your son pee and bathe, are you?"
Yang Fen seemed to understand then. She said slowly:
"Then hurry and pick someone.
"Find someone attentive and sensible."
