Hunter
Ihad no words. No fucking words whatsoever.
“Are you insane?” Tate Montes shook his fist at Tank Frosthaven while Tobias Morrone stood glowering.
I listened, interested in what the Frosthaven heir had to say for himself before I informed the stupid fuck he’d be in detention for the rest of the academic year.
And that was assuming he didn’t face immediate expulsion.
“Your father will lose his shit, Tank!” Tate continued, vibrating with rage. “I covered for you last time, but it won’t work here!”
“Last time?” I frowned. The Shifter Council would not turn a blind eye if a powerful alpha wolf had control issues. They’d view it as a threat to human safety and likely take him into custody for his own protection.
“Never mind,” Tate huffed, brushing my question away.
“If he can’t control his wolf,” I said through gritted teeth, “I need to know!”
“He can control it. This is a one-off!”
I scoffed. “I can smell your lie,” I pointed out. “Plus, you just fucking admitted it wasn’t the first time. Dumbass,” I added under my breath.
Frosthaven bared his teeth aggressively at me, which made my lion growl. He was still unhappy our alpha command had failed to force the wolf to shift back. I had no clue why, as the Frosthaven heir wasn’t stronger than me.
But that was a conundrum for another day. Right now, I needed to figure out what had happened before I faced Moonrise’s principal.
“It was the female,” Tate said. “He was fine until he saw her.”
We all turned to check on the little female with the red hair, but she’d gone. She must have snuck away while the arguing wolves distracted me.
Frosthaven lunged for the door, but Tate grabbed his arm and dragged him back.
“You can’t go out there, you fucking idiot! You’re naked, and also the principal will be on the warpath by now.”
“She’s already on her way,” I confirmed. “The ballroom has been cleared.” All the students floored by the Montes heir’s alpha command had been stuck until I arrived. There would be a lot of angry complaints logged by morning.
“I need to find her,” Frosthaven grunted with a pained, almost desperate expression. His eyes glowed gold, a warning that his wolf was still close to the surface. Fuck. If he shifted again, it would be impossible to talk our way out of the mess he’d created.
“You three need to get the fuck out of here,” I snapped, pointing at Frosthaven. “Before he goes full fur again.”
Tobias and Tate looked at each other and then nodded.
“But first, put some fucking pants on, for the love of the goddess.”
