Chapter 22

The room offered Imani the image she had wanted for months, and she refused to let the image hurry the people inside it.

Arun stood near the long couch, stillness gathering around him. Calder leaned against the mantel with his arms loose at his sides. Their masks caught the amber light differently. She knew the shape of each mouth now. She knew the hands hidden inside their gloves.

"Speak to me," she said to Arun.

"What do you want to hear?"

"Anything that proves this is not a photograph."

"A photograph could not prove that in any case."

Calder made a quiet sound of amusement. "He brought philosophical foreplay."

"You brought commentary."

"I contain multitudes."

Imani's laughter loosened the room.

"May I see your hands?" she asked.

Each man removed his own gloves. Arun offered nothing before she requested it. Calder flexed clay-roughened fingers once.

"Arun, may I hold your hand?"

"Yes."

She crossed to him and threaded her fingers through his. "Calder, may I hold yours too?"

"Yes."

He approached her other side. The contact was familiar enough to carry memory and new enough to change it.

"I want both of you closer," she said. "No contact with each other."

Arun moved behind her after asking whether that position worked. Calder remained in front. Imani felt Arun's breath near her ear and Calder's warmth through the thin silk of her dress.

"Calder, kiss me," she said.

"Yes?"

"Yes."

His mouth met hers with a heat she recognized. He kept his hands still until she placed one at her waist. Behind her, Arun waited without turning patience into performance.

Imani broke the kiss. "Arun, put your mouth on my neck."

"Where?"

She touched the place below her ear. "Here. No mark."

"Yes."

His lips found the point she had named. The contrast moved through her: Calder's broad hand anchoring her waist, Arun's precise mouth and controlled breath.

No one anticipated the next act for her.

She asked Calder to kiss her again. She asked Arun to open the back of her dress. Both men confirmed. Silk loosened and slid to her waist, revealing a black bra and matching underwear she had chosen because she wanted to, not because the Society had styled her.

"Touch me," she said, then caught herself. "Calder, my breasts over the bra. Arun, my stomach and thighs. Are those requests you want?"

"Yes," Calder said.

"Yes," Arun answered.

They touched her differently without making difference a contest. Calder cupped her breasts through lace, thumbs circling only after she asked. Arun's hands moved along her waist and down the outside of her thighs, learning pressure through her answers.

Pleasure gathered too quickly. Imani heard her own breathing go shallow.

"Hold."

Every hand left her.

Arun stepped back. Calder did the same. Neither spoke over her.

Imani placed both feet firmly on the rug. "Nothing is wrong. I want the dress off completely. I want to sit. I need water, and then I want to change the order."

Calder brought the glass but waited for her to take it. Arun asked whether she wanted help with the dress. She said yes, and he lowered the silk without touching skin beyond the agreed path.

They sat on the couch with space between all three while she drank.

"Ready to review?" Arun asked.

"Yes. I want Calder beside me and Arun kneeling in front of me. Calder, I want your mouth and your hand on my breast. Arun, I want you to touch me over my underwear first."

"I want that," Calder said.

Arun held her gaze. "I want it."

"I consent."

Three renewed yeses returned motion to the room.

Calder settled beside her. His kiss was slower now, his hand warm over lace. Arun knelt between her legs, not submissive and not commanding, positioned where she had invited him. He placed his palm on her knee.

"Open?" he asked.

"Yes."

Imani parted her thighs. Arun touched her over damp fabric while Calder kissed the sound from her mouth. She named pressure, pace, and the exact place she wanted Arun's fingers. When she asked him to remove the underwear, he did so after a fresh yes.

Cool air met heated skin.

Calder's mouth moved to her breast when she asked him to pull the bra down. Arun's fingers returned bare. The first stroke made her hips lift.

"Again," she said.

He gave her the same motion.

"Calder, harder with your mouth. No teeth."

"Yes."

The room narrowed to distinct sensations: Calder's tongue over her nipple, Arun's fingers circling and then entering only after she requested it, the masks visible whenever she opened her eyes. The concealment did not erase their personhood. It concentrated every permitted thing.

Imani reached for Calder's trousers and stopped. "May I touch you over them?"

"Yes."

She cupped the hard length of him through fabric. Calder's breath roughened against her breast.

"Arun, I want to touch you too. Stand when you can without stopping what you're doing."

"Clarify the priority."

Even now, his exactness thrilled her.

"Stop your hand. Stand. Let me touch you. Then I want you back between my thighs."

"Yes."

He rose. Imani held one man in each hand over clothing, feeling difference without inventorying it. Neither watched the other for comparison. Their attention remained on her face and the words she gave them.

"I want both of you undressed below the waist," she said. "Masks stay on. You remove your own clothes. No contact between you."

Each answered yes.

They stepped apart to undress. Imani looked because they had consented to be seen. Desire swept through her, abundant and almost frightening in its lack of apology.

Barriers waited in an opened kit. She requested that Calder sit behind her on the bed while Arun return to her first. They reviewed the position, mobility, and contact before moving.

Calder sat against the headboard, still clothed above the waist. Imani settled between his legs with her back to his chest. His hands rested on her hips after permission. Arun knelt before her again.

"Use your mouth," she asked him. "Do you want that?"

"Yes."

His answer warmed her before his tongue did.

Arun touched her with the same measured attention he brought to language, but nothing about it was cold.

He listened to every change, adjusted when she asked, and refused to treat her body as a puzzle he could solve without her.

Calder held her, one hand at her breast, the other spread over her stomach.

His masked cheek stayed away from hers unless she invited contact.

"Closer," she told Calder.

He drew her back against his chest.

"Arun, faster."

He increased the rhythm.

Pleasure climbed until Imani's thighs trembled around him. She came with Calder's mouth at her shoulder and Arun's hands holding her hips only as firmly as she had requested. Her cry filled the room and vanished into no device, no transcript, no audience.

They slowed together. Calder asked whether she wanted pressure or space. Arun asked whether touch on her legs remained welcome.

"Pressure from Calder. Arun, keep your hands on my knees."

After her breathing settled, Imani asked what each man wanted next.

Arun wanted her hand and eye contact. Calder wanted her mouth if she desired it. The requests were separate, neither presented as a test.

She chose Arun first and told Calder what she was choosing rather than leaving him to infer. Calder agreed to wait without becoming an audience assigned for erotic effect; he turned slightly, remaining available to Imani without watching a private act she had not asked him to witness.

Imani stroked Arun with her hand while looking into what the mask allowed of his eyes. He told her when to tighten, when to slow, and when not to change anything. His release came quietly into the barrier she had asked him to use, his hand gripping hers without trapping it.

Then she asked Calder to stand with her near the bed.

She knelt by choice, confirmed the barrier, and took him into her mouth after his clear yes.

His hand hovered until she asked him to rest it on the back of her shoulder, not her head.

She learned his pace from his words, not pressure.

When he came, the sound he made held no humor at all.

Later, all three lay on the wide bed with Imani in the center and enough space that no body became accidental contact. The masks remained on. No revelation had been smuggled into arousal.

Calder asked, "Shared touch or separate?"

"One hand from each of you," she said. "Where I can hold them."

They gave her their hands.

In the quiet that followed, Imani realized she did not feel divided.

She felt entirely located.

Before quiet hour, Imani requested one minute alone in the retreat room. Both men agreed without reading the need as regret.

She stood before an ordinary mirror with her own mask removed and recognized herself: flushed, pleased, frightened, still capable of saying no.

When she returned, she asked whether both men remained willing to share aftercare. They answered separately. Imani lay between them because the group had survived a pause, revision, pleasure, and solitude without demanding sameness.
