Chapter 9
Hush
Aconfused look filled her face and it was honest. She really didn’t understand the chaos she’d just caused by stepping inside this bar tonight.
She didn’t seem to understand that the way her jeans were hugging her sweet ass, and the thin top was showing off her perfect tits was like waving a red cape in front of a room full of bulls.
It was clear she wasn’t looking for compliments, just understanding.
That was even more dangerous. A woman who understood how gorgeous she was knew the stakes.
Knew how to play the game. I don’t think Seek realized there was a game, or that she was the prize.
It was far too fucking enticing for comfort.
“We don’t get a lot of new women in here,” I explained.
“That’s because you run them out as soon as they walk in,” she responded with a laugh that was light and airy.
“Not all of them. Just kids too young to be here. It’d cause too much trouble to allow them to stay.”
Kit walked over and dropped off our drinks. I hadn’t asked what Seek had wanted, but had told Kit just to make something a woman would like.
“Thanks,” I told her. “Jamie, this is Kit. Kit, Jamie.” I sort of liked the idea of keeping her nickname to myself.
“Hi,” Seek said with a friendly smile.
Kit’s eyes narrowed in speculation, her gaze sliding over to me, before landing on Seek again. “Hey there. It’s nice to meet you.”
“You, too.”
“If you get bored of his company, you come visit me at the bar,” Kit said with a malicious grin tossed in my direction. “I’ll tell you all the dirty secrets.”
“Get outta here,” I muttered, glaring at her. I’d known Kit since she was a kid. She was Smokehouse’s sister and had been hanging around the clubhouse her whole life. Smokehouse and Kit’s old man had been in the club when he was younger so they’d both grown up in the life.
Kit was drop dead gorgeous and every man in this bar knew she was off limits unless they wanted to end up in a shallow grave.
Made me feel sorry for her because if she ever was interested in a man, the club brothers—myself included—ran them off in a hurry.
If she did manage to find one, he’d have to have balls of steel.
“Thanks, Kit,” Seek said with a laugh. “I’ll probably take you up on that.”
“No you won’t,” I grumbled, lifting my beer to take a drink.
I didn’t need these women becoming friends.
Kit wasn’t kidding when she said she knew secrets.
She knew everything about this club. Women couldn’t become members, but Lockout did his best to honor her old man by allowing her to be as involved as she wanted to be.
She worked here at The Bunker and had since we’d opened it.
It was typical for most clubs to have a bar, though not all of them opened them up for outside patrons.
We did, to an extent. It was an exclusive list of mostly bikers—not all club affiliated though—and of a few other select people who were allowed to stay and drink here.
It was also a way for our club to make money.
Not to mention gathering intel. A bar was the perfect cover, since alcohol had a way of loosening lips.
The Bunker was known for being a mostly exclusive biker bar, however our ‘other activities’ were known to a certain type of person.
Those people would come here from time to time, to help us keep a pulse on the city.
Lockout and Riptide hired mostly our brothers to run the place, and a few of the bunnies.
It was a good way to keep the bunnies from causing too much trouble.
They got to flirt to their hearts content with anyone who came through the bar.
Lockout had started this place up once he’d taken over as the new club president after the previous had retired.
Kit shook her head and patted my shoulder before saying goodbye to Seek and heading back to the bar. I should be over there helping, it was packed in here tonight, but I was due for a break and I wasn’t leaving Seek in here alone.
“She seems nice.”
“She is,” I grunted, taking another drink of my beer.
“Is she your girlfriend?”
I choked on the liquid I’d just swallowed. Seek watched me with calm eyes as I fought to breathe. “No,” I finally managed to get out. “I don’t have a girlfriend.”
“Oh.” Her smile crossed her face in a slow, sensual way and I knew I was in deep shit. “Good.”
Good?
I narrowed my eyes at her. “I don’t date.”
“Uh huh,” she replied, not seeming at all worried about that fact.
This was my fault. She was watching me with interest shining in those hypnotic eyes because each time I’d seen her I hadn’t been able to keep to my fucking self and had approached her.
Idiot. You practically forced yourself into her house and nursed her back to health. That is bound to leave a woman with certain ideas and expectations.
She picked up her drink and took a sip through the little red straw. Looking down at it in surprise, she licked her lips. “This is really good. What is it?”
My eyes were still on her pink tongue brushing over her full lips. It took her giving me a pointed look before I realized she’d asked me something. “Girl drink.”
She slid it over to me and I tasted it. It was sickeningly sweet and sugary. “Washington Apple. Like I said, a girl’s drink.”
Her eyebrows shot up and she laughed again, this time huskier and low. That laugh was going to be the death of me. My cock thickened inside my jeans.
“I’m surprised you know it by taste,” she teased.
“I bartend here. The ladies like the sweet drinks.”
She took the drink back from me, our fingers brushing together during the transfer. I had to grit my teeth to keep myself from doing something stupid, like tangling our fingers together. Holding hands with a woman in here was bound to get back to my brothers. That was the last thing I needed.
“Doesn’t seem like you’re talkative enough to be a bartender.”
“Plenty talkative for a biker bar. Most of the guys aren’t the kind to spill their feelin’s all over my bartop.
They either want to drink in silence, or just have a body for their words to bounce off while they rant and vent.
No conversation required.” My eyes dipped down over her body as she leaned back in her chair.
Jesus, she was stacked. I wanted to run my hands over her curves.
How the hell did she not know what she was packing?
The realization floored me. I hadn’t felt this kind of attraction for anyone in a long time. Clearing my throat, I stood. “Time to go.”
It was rude and inconsiderate of me, especially after I’d offered her the drink, but too fucking bad.
This woman was forcing me to feel things I’d thought I’d long since buried.
There were a few reasons that was a problem for me.
Not to mention more of my brothers would be wandering in here at any time.
Smokehouse was the only other Viking’s Rampage member currently here and I could feel his eyes on me.
He’d been watching Seek and I since she’d walked through the door.
I knew he couldn’t wait to go gossiping back to the others like a little bitch.
I gripped her arm and all but hauled her up to her feet. “Let’s go, Trouble.”
She stumbled and I hauled her against my body to steady her. Her hands were on my chest, eyes wide as she stared up at me. “What happened?”
Shaking my head, I let my hand slide down to link with hers and I pulled her out of the bar.
I knew she deserved an explanation, but how would that go?
You’re making me so hot I want to fuck you up against the wall.
Yeah, that would end up being a problem for us both.
Least of which was that you typically needed to work your way up to that kind of bluntness.
Instead, I walked her out to my bike. She climbed on behind me without saying a word.
Her arms wrapped around my waist and I groaned when she scooted closer and pressed her tits against my back.
I tried to ignore the way she was super glued against me for the ride.
It was impossible to avoid my body’s response to hers.
My balls were aching and pictures of taking those painted on jeans off her kept flashing through my mind.
The ride was torture, but finally, I pulled up in front of her house. She got off the bike and looked down at me. “You’re a very confusing guy, you know?”
Without another word, she walked away and went inside. I sat there, trying to will my body back into compliance. It was hard to say which I felt more—guilty or horny.
Drive away.
I knew it was what I should do, but something had me swinging my leg over my bike and stalking up to her front porch. I knocked on the door then shoved my hands into the pockets of my jeans.
What are you doing?
Fuck if I knew, but I didn’t want to leave with her thinking I didn’t like her.
The door opened and her eyes narrowed on me. “Hi again.”
She was too fucking sweet for me. An amused smile played over her lips and she didn’t look at all upset over my actions tonight. I was being a dick and deserved her anger. Anger would make distancing myself easier. Sweetness was just smashing down my defenses.
“Look,” I said with a sigh. “I didn’t mean to be so…” Struggling to find a way to describe my behavior, I paused.
“Overbearing?” she supplied helpfully.
I glared at her.
“Controlling?” Now she was having fun at my expense. Maybe she wasn’t as sweet as I’d thought. I sort of liked her sass.
“I know. Domineering.” She nodded, pleased with herself. “That’s a good one. Rude, inconsiderate, obnoxious…”
“Knock it off.”
Her smile turned challenging and she stepped out onto the porch. We were almost bumping chests as she stared up at me. “Or what?”
My breathing had sped up, and my dick was demanding I take her up on the provocation. There was a dare there in her eyes and I was too fucking weak to walk away.
Her hips were warm under my hands as I grabbed her, tugging her to the side so I could pin her between the stucco of the house and my body. My mouth was on hers before my brain had caught up to what I was doing.
She parted her lips, moaning, and inviting me in. My tongue swept into her mouth. She tasted like her drink, sweet and tart at the same time. It was a good analogy for her personality as well.
Her arms looped around my neck and I let my hands slip down to the ass I’d been wanting to grope all night. I pulled her hard against me, grinding my hips against her while we kissed.
Keeping one hand in place, I let the other reach up and grasp her jaw, turning her head more so I could deepen the kiss.
I held her in place while I gave us both exactly what we wanted.
I may have been trying to fight the attraction I felt toward her before, but right now, I’d let the beast out of its cage and it wasn’t leaving until it was satisfied.
Hitching her up, I pinned her lower body against the house with my hips while she wrapped those long legs around my waist. Her skin was so soft. I let my fingertips trail across her belly, below her shirt.
She dove her hands into my hair and writhed against me, rubbing her body against mine. She was a fucking wildcat in my arms and was pulling me down deeper by the minute.
I bit her soft lower lip, then sucked it into my mouth to ease the sting. I wanted to free my dick and fuck her silly right here, right now.
I might have, too, if it wasn’t for the horn that blared as a vehicle drove past. Jerking back to awareness, I realized I was dry humping her against the side of her house.
We were both panting as we stared at each other, both a bit surprised at what we’d done. I let her down and took a step back, shoving a hand through my hair as I tried to figure out what to say to her.
“Fuck,” I muttered. Opening my mouth to say something, anything, words failed me. I turned around, got on my bike, and left.
Was it cowardly to leave her standing there after I’d just kissed the hell out of her? Probably. After dry humping her? Definitely. But if I’d stayed, I’d have brought her inside and we would have done a whole lot more. Me leaving was the best thing for both of us.
