Chapter 12
Jenny
Priest was the last person I’d expected to see at the door when I opened it.
I knew at some point he was going to show back up.
And to be fair, he’d kept in contact over the last week, so it wasn’t like he’d disappeared like before.
I just hadn’t been ready for him this soon.
Especially not looking like the hot mess I currently was.
I was in jean shorts and an old raggedy t-shirt that I’ve never been able to throw out, while I cleaned.
I was still sifting through and processing everything the girls had told me.
I’d had another talk with Mom and asked her what she thought about her daughter dating a biker.
She had only said as long as she got grand babies she didn’t care.
I’d mentioned the four who came with Priest, a small head start as far as she was concerned.
I knew she was already hearing the wedding march song.
I swore I woke up one morning to her measuring me for a dress.
She claimed she was bringing me breakfast in bed, but the distinct lack of breakfast, and the soft tape measure in her hand, had called her bluff.
Priest’s eyes narrowed at my question, but he didn’t look pissed. He seemed to be contemplating how best to deal with me. I wasn’t trying to be a pain in the ass, I was just so conflicted. Nothing he’d done so far had reassured me that my heart was safe with him.
That realization struck like lightning. That was what I was waiting on.
A declaration saying I was his. A wild kiss in the darkness.
Even explaining what had happened before wasn't enough. I needed him to prove to me he was going to put me first. Not before his daughters. Or even his club necessarily. Fine, I didn’t need to be first, but I did need to be a priority.
I needed to know he wouldn’t drop me at a moment's notice just because the club, or anyone else who was more important pulled at him. I needed to be included.
“Can I come inside?”
That was a dangerous game. My mom wasn’t even home to be a buffer between us. Still, I wasn’t going to make him stand on the porch in the heat. That was a bit more rude than I was willing to be. I stepped back, my answer to his question.
He gave me a heated look as he came inside. He already thought he’d won. That irritated me a little. This wasn’t a game to me. There was no winning and losing when it came to my feelings for the jerk. There was just happiness or utter devastation.
“Why are you here?” I asked again.
“I came to see you.”
“Yeah, I got that, but why?”
He moved forward, his huge body backing me into the wall next to the door. When I went to duck out of the way, his hand shot forward. I was left staring at a muscular, veiny forearm. Why was that so sexy? It really shouldn’t be.
It would be sexier still if it was wrapped around me.
“What are you doing?” It came out as a whisper.
“I told you the other day, Taz. You’re mine. You don’t seem to believe me when I say it.”
“Can you blame me?” I snapped, a hand going to his chest as I tried to shove him away.
I needed space. To think. To breathe. Sucking in a shuddering breath, my nipples scraped against his chest. My silent plea for space was ignored and if anything he leaned in closer.
My body was already screaming for relief.
Only from his hands and mouth, not from his distance.
I closed my eyes in a failing attempt to get myself under control. Anytime he came near this was how my body reacted to him. It made it damn hard to remember why I was hesitant to trust him again. I opened my eyes and tried again.
“No. I fucked up. I realize that. But I’m telling you now. It’s not going to happen again.”
The urge to tell him ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’ was so strong the words nearly spilled from my lips. I managed to bite them back at the last second. Issuing a challenge to a man like this was a dangerous move and I wasn’t stupid.
“Okay.” Funny, that one word was filled with more attitude than even I thought possible.
His jaw flexed as he ground his teeth together. His voice came out as a low growl. “I know you don’t trust me, Taz, but you’re going to have to get over that.”
There was no holding back the harsh laugh. It forced its way up from my gut and it was full of bitterness. “Sure. I’ll go ahead and jump right on that, Priest. And stop calling me that.”
“Taz?”
“Yes,” I gritted out. “It’s insulting.”
Genuine surprise flickered in his gorgeous brown eyes. “It’s not meant to be insulting.”
“You named me that when I was running around cleaning in panic mode,” I told him wryly. “How else am I supposed to take it?”
One side of his mouth kicked up in a smirk.
“Take it as a loving nickname. The cleaning may have inspired it, but you’re always charging around in the middle of one task or another.
” He leaned in closer until his lips brushed my ear.
My eyes fluttered closed. “Maybe I’ve been wondering what it’d be like to have all that energy focused on me.
What you’d be like writhing beneath me as I fuck you.
Will you still be my little tornado then? ”
I couldn’t breathe. No matter how much I willed my lungs to suck in air, they weren’t cooperating.
Hearing Priest say such dirty, delicious things to me had robbed me of all sanity.
I was a woman with needs and it just so happened that the object of all my desires was currently pressed up against me, whispering filthy things into my ear. There’s only so much a girl could take.
Turning my head toward his, I trailed my lips over the rough stubble of his five o’clock shadow.
I’d never seen him with a beard, but he almost always had this stubble and I loved it.
It rasped against my skin, shooting sparks all the way down to my toes.
I was playing with fire, but I was so tired of overanalyzing the situation. I just wanted to feel.
Our mouths met and I sank into his kiss with a sigh. His tongue traced the seam of my lips and I opened for him. I knew this was going to make it that much harder if things didn’t go anywhere between us, but at least I’d have this one memory afterward.
His hands slid into the hair at my temples and clamped down, holding my head still. I wasn’t sure if he thought I was going to change my mind, but it was clear he wasn’t letting me go anywhere.
The decision was made. My mind made up. I wanted him too badly to deny myself at least one time with him.
If he truly meant what he’d said about wanting me to be his, I was on board.
A week of agonizing came down to one simple fact: if I didn’t give him another chance I could be missing out on everything I’d ever wanted.
If I walked away from him with a broken heart, at least I’d tried. I’d figure out a way to live on without him. For now, I was going to bask in the pleasurable sensations he was creating within my body.
“Where’s your room?” he rumbled against my lips.
“Down the hall, second door on the right,” I answered breathlessly.
He released his hold on my hair, but before I could lead the way, his hands went to my hips. I gasped when they kept going and slipped around and covered my ass, lifting me into the air. Instinctively my legs went around his hips to help hold myself against him.
He’d lifted me like I weighed no more than a bag of feathers. Granted, he was a huge guy, but I wasn’t a tiny woman. The world spun as he turned and started down the hall.
His hands were still gripping my ass, fingers digging into my flesh. He groaned and leaned forward, his mouth latching onto my neck.
My head dropped back as he raked his teeth over my sensitive skin. It’d been far too long since I’d felt a man’s mouth on me. Even so, I was pretty sure Priest’s felt better than any who’d come before him.
I grunted as we hit the wall. He wasn’t paying attention to where we were going and had taken the turn too soon. Muttering curses under his breath his lips broke contact with my skin long enough for him to find the doorway.
He kicked the door shut behind us and I let out a laugh as he dropped me back on my bed. I scrambled backward just enough to give him space to crawl on top of me and still half his body hung off the mattress.
We were kissing again as he laid his hard body on top of mine. I relished his weight shoving me down into the bed. The feel of his heavy muscles pressed against my body.
He bit my bottom lip, then wasted no time working his way lower. The sound of rending fabric made me gasp. He’d just taken my shirt in both hands and ripped it down the middle.
“Priest!”
He didn’t bother to look up, instead he’d buried his face between my breasts. His hand delved under my back and with a flick he unhooked my bra.
I didn’t have the breath to scold him about ruining one of my favorite shirts because he jerked my bra off and those wide, calloused hands were cupping my breasts.
His thumb swiped over my nipple and I bit my lip, trying to hold back the pleas that were building in my chest. Desire darkened his eyes from a deep brown to almost black. He gave me a wicked grin before he dropped his head.
My back arched, shoving my breast more firmly toward him.
He sucked hard on the nipple in his mouth, causing me to cry out.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I was grateful my mom wasn’t here.
Judging by the fact that he had me moaning and whimpering within the first few minutes there was no way I’d be able to stay quiet.
Thank God she wasn’t going to be here to hear this.
“These are fucking perfect,” Priest muttered against my skin, dragging his lips over to my other breast and licking that lonely tip.
“They’re small,” I panted.
His eyes flashed up and met mine. He lifted his head slightly, his bottom lip hovering just above my aching peak. “I’m the one doing the fucking judging here, Taz. They’re perfect,” he insisted, then went back to showing me how much he liked them.
