Chapter 27 #2

Something soft brushed my cheek, and I glanced up to see that the stuffed orca and shark lying between our pillows, both of their faces turned toward the TV as if they were watching too. It was absolutely disgusting that this made me smile.

He picked up the orca and pressed the snout to my cheek while simulating a loud, obnoxious smacking kiss that I also found revolting when my heart skipped a beat.

I picked up the shark and made a chomping sound as the felt jaws touched Devlin’s thigh. He laughed, and I couldn’t believe how much I liked the sound of it.

What the hell? I’d gone soft and sappy. But I couldn’t seem to pull myself out of this moment, warm in my bed, breathing in the scent of Devlin’s clean skin while his laughter echoed in my ears.

“You slept too, right?” I asked.

“Yep. Just shy of nine hours.”

“You hungry?”

He shrugged. “In a little bit. I’m too comfortable to get up.”

“Jace offers a reliable delivery service. We don’t even have to tip.”

He sighed. “Maybe later. I like it just us.”

I like it just us.

I did too.

I shifted to rest my turned face on his thigh so I could see the TV. Devlin’s hand settled on my head, and his fingers rasped over the short strands of my buzzcut. My awake brain snagged on Rhys’s words to me, and my overall loss of appetite for this life.

“I should pull back,” I said, still facing the TV.

Devlin’s fingers stopped, then resumed a slow, circular rub on my head.

“After my father died, all I could think about was being a better, more successful boss. More money, territory. Expansion. Revenge. But all of that just feels so empty now. It’s not what I want anymore.

I want to protect you, and Rhys, and Jace, and all the guys. Keep O'Shea’s free of trouble.”

I rolled onto my back and looked up at Dev. We were a team, he had said. Partners. We protected each other, and we had a future to plan together. “What do you think?”

His hand rested on my chest. His green eyes were soft. “I think that if all I did for the rest of my life was stock the bar at O'Shea’s and bus tables, I’d be happy. As long as I was with you.”

My stupid heart soared at his words. “It’ll probably never end, though. We have too many enemies. My father’s ties will never fully snap.”

“Then we’ll deal with those problems when they knock at our door,” he said. “Until then, we can close ranks. Sell stock. Pull out of deals. Fuck your father’s legacy. Make your own.”

I placed my hand over his. “It’ll take time.”

He smiled. “We’ve got it.”

I wasn’t interested in talking anymore. I reached for the waistband of his boxers and tugged them down. He let out a squeak as I spread his legs and settled between them on my stomach. Leaning forward, I drew his soft cock in my mouth.

“Shit,” he gasped. His hand settled on the back of my head, fingers flexing on my scalp. “Cian.”

He grew hard on my tongue in seconds, and I took him to the root so I could swallow around the sensitive head. He kicked and moaned as I pulled off to rip his boxers the rest of the way down his legs. I sucked on my fingers and then reached behind his balls to circle his entrance. “Need you.”

His big green eyes were still glassy from sleep.

I trembled with the need to claim him again.

When I thought he was going to kneel for that Bianchi fuck…

I’d been gutted. But my smart devil had tricks up his sleeve and a blade in his shoe.

Just the memory of the way he’d conquered that room made my cock kick.

He sank down further into the pillows and spread his legs. “Need you, too.”

I hastily lubed up my cock while Devlin prepped himself with slick fingers.

Kneeling on the bed, I tugged Devlin onto my lap with his legs around my waist. I pressed our chests together as I positioned my cock at his entrance.

“You look at me when I take you. Never forget who you belong to and who you kneel for.”

His eyes fell to half-mast as I entered him slowly, and his fingers dug into my shoulders. “You, Cian,” he breathed.

Slow only lasted for a few seconds, because as soon as his tight heat strangled my shaft, I was too far gone to take it easy.

Not with the fear of losing Devlin still lurking in the recesses of my mind.

I thrust into him with abandon, and he threw back his head with keening moans while the sound of skin slapping skin filled the apartment.

I angled his head back to me, and his eyes rolled, mouth slack, body jerking with each plunge of my dick into his slick hole.

“I’ll keep you so full, you won’t ever forget.” His cock was squeezed between us, and I reached down to swipe a thumb across the weeping tip. I shoved my thumb in his mouth, and he sucked like a fiend. “I don’t want you plugged. In this apartment, I want you loose and open and dripping with me.”

Lips still wrapped around my thumb, he nodded with a moan.

I pulled my thumb out and replaced it with my tongue.

He arched against me, whimpering into my mouth.

My balls ached, and my spine tingled with the warning of an orgasm.

I wasn’t going to last long, not with this frantic feeling in my chest. We’d go slow later today.

Tomorrow. Another day. We had all the time in the world now.

Devlin came first, the friction on his cock between us enough to coat our stomachs with thick ropes of cum.

I forced a deeper kiss, eating away at his mouth, as my cock pulsed and released inside of his body.

The orgasm felt like it lasted forever, and I remained inside of him, grinding with a slow circle of my hips until I was wrung out.

I slowly lowered him to the bed, still inside of him, and pressed soft kisses to his eyes, nose, and mouth until my softened cock slipped from his hole. I reached down and slid two fingers inside. He made a small grunt, and when I pressed my fingers to his lips, he sucked them greedily.

I cupped his face and brought our foreheads together. His breath mingled with mine. My heartbeat slowed to a comfortable rhythm. The frantic need to claim and mark and own had faded, and what remained was a bone deep contentment that the man I loved was safe in my arms and all mine.

I had lived thirty-five years with a fractured soul. Turned out, only the devil could make me whole.
