Chapter 16 The White Witch
at the Mullens Library
I've had a long, difficult month. I've faced a lot of difficult circumstances.
I've been considering a lot of things that may support me in achieving my objectives.
I'm now making plans for my survival and future.
I must adjust my plans in various ways. To make my plan efficient, I visited our local library last week to study various books about the cultures and ethnicities of every kingdom in an effort to expand my understanding.
I even draw maps to visualize things since it's hard to travel here and I can only rely on books.
My initial plan is to avoid Vladimir de Russ since he's the villain of this novel.
However, I can't get rid of him; his obsession with our friendship is too extreme.
Maybe because he was lonely and grew up without a parent or guardian.
If I can't get rid of Vladimir in this circumstance, I'll turn him into a decent guy!
When we were kids, I was able to control him; perhaps now, I can persuade him to adopt a positive outlook on life.
Although it seems impossible, perhaps I should give it a shot. Okay!
Let's do it.
I was about to write my new plan when Ollie approached me and told me that there was a letter for me. It was strange because I usually don't get letters because of the rumors about me. They stopped sending me invitation letters since I offended the ladies.
However, the letter that I received is covered in magic and smells like a lilac flower.
As I read the sender, it says, "The White Witch."
I look at Ollie, who's also curious about the content of the letter.
I went into my study area, and there I opened the letter. As I read the content, Ollie was observing me. This letter...
*Thug*
I quickly stood up and hid the letter in my pocket.
I know that Ollie is confused because of my actions. In this letter, the person who wrote it wants me to meet her in a jewelry shop at the Sanri Village.
I must meet this person; she can help me with my problem.
We got off at my family's carriage on the roadside of Sanri Village near the markets.
While walking, Ollie asked, "My lady?" "Why are we in the Sanri Village?"
I quickly turn and face her, "What!? Ollie, you've got it wrong. It's not like that."
*clang! *
The sound of the bell rang as we entered the shop.
At the desk, a middle-aged man greeted us with an innocent smile.
Before I could say anything, though, I let my gaze stray as I studied the shop's layout.
The walls and furnishings are all neutral hues with minimalist components that give off an air of refinement that fits the diamonds in the shop, which is very 18th century.
Numerous items of jewelry and mystical stones are present; they are all gleaming and give off the impression that I am at a fantastic location.
I finally ask him, "I'm looking for 'the white witch.' Is that person here?" as I move closer to the counter. The man's smiling face vanished and turned into a serious face.
He then asks me, "Who are you?"
He gives me a disapproving look, thinking that I'm a suspicious person. I was about to explain when someone spoke.
The three of us turned our heads to see who had entered our conversation.
She gets closer to me, narrowing our distance, and she whispers.
Then she went behind the bookshelf and pulled the lever, and something opened below the shelf.
She looks at me and then leads the way to a secret passage.
Ollie and I looked at each other and then decided to follow the white witch. Minutes later, we arrive in a big space full of weapons, potions, and spell books.
She offers us a seat in the mini-living area. Before I accepted her offer, I asked her a question.
Ollie, look at me. "It's fine, Ollie." She then bows to me and excuses herself.
Then, I went to the sofa and seated comfortably.
Before she could say anything, the man and Ollie arrived. They serve the tea on the table. Ollie looked at me and bowed again, and they left.
I look at the tea. "Don't worry, there's no poison in it." she said while smirking.
I stopped for a moment after hearing Damien's name. She looks at me with a serious face.
I put my cup on the table and asked, "What about him?"
My eyebrow creased and replied, "Yes, he is."
I didn't mind her compliment and continued.
*Bang!* *screaming people*, we heard something explode above where the jewelry shop is located.
I ran as fast as I could without looking back, and I saw the exit door as soon as I reached it.
I quickly opened the door and ran again so fast.
I saw the sky it was getting dark, and to my surprise, I didn't notice there was a pile of rocks on the ground, which I accidentally tripped on, and I rolled out to avoid further injury.
Ugh!
I was facing the ground and feeling pain all over my body because of the impact. I got up, still sitting on the ground, checking to see if there were injuries or wounds in my body.
*Bang*
I looked back at the jewelry shop. It was on fire! They were knights and monsters fighting. What's happening?
*Growl*
I flinched when I heard a light growl behind me. As I looked, I saw a three teras! 50 meters away from me. I'm alone, facing the woods, and behind me is the flaming jewelry shop, a hundred meters away from me.
I quickly stood and put myself in a defensive position.
How am I supposed to fight a Teras? It's coming! I raised my two hands instinctively to protect myself from it but I know its no use. It's just a dumb action.
No... No.. no... "AHHH!" I closed my eyes, thinking that Vladimir would come and save me.
Vladimir!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6? Huh? Why am I still standing here?
As I opened my eyes, "Ah!"
What just happened? I looked around, hoping that someone had come to my rescue once more. But there's none; it's just me and the teras, who've become entangled in thorny vines.
The imprisoned teras yelled, "GAHHHH!" as they tried to break free, but each movement caused the thorns to pierce deeper, causing them to bleed.
The unexpected shaking and cracking of the ground that swallowed the teras underground astonished me. The teras were instantly buried alive.
I was left speechless since everything happened so quickly. The earth I'm standing on then starts to glow, and I immediately see that there are little green light specks floating in the air. What is this? The little green lights resembled stars. Am I dreaming?
A book suddenly fell in front of me. I flinched like a cat when the book fell and saw the real Estelle wearing her big smile.
*Crack*
What was that? I look at the woods, and I think that's where the scream came from.
The two of us look at each other.
Without hesitation, I left the real Estelle and ran as fast as I could toward the gloomy woods in Sanri Village.
As I entered the woods, I felt the coldness of the environment.
However, I didn't mind it at all, since my goal was to find the owner of the scream.
While running, I pass multiple scary and huge trees where I think something is watching me.
Almost there! I increase my speed, crashing into the bushes and other plants that get in my way. The scream is getting closer, and I can hear the growl of a monster. When I arrived at the scene, the little girl was hiding in the big acacia tree, with a teras slowly approaching her.
The teras heard my scream, and so it turned its attention to me. The monster was salivating, and its eyes were as red as the blood moon.
I ran as fast as I could, trying not to get caught by the teras.
*gasping* *rustling*
Faster. Don't look back.
*crackle*
I fell to the ground when I didn't notice the crater on the ground. I held my right leg, checking for injury; it was just a slight abrasion. So I tried to run again, but I fell again, having no strength in my body.
This is not happening, move you f*cking legs! I heard the teras heavy steps fast approaching.
What should I do?
*growling* it's coming!
I turn my head toward the person who calls out my name.
How did he get here?
I was about to say something, but I saw the Teras that were about to attack me.
I instinctively covered my face with my bare hands and shut my eyes.
The ground shook when I heard thunder. When I open my eyes, I see my Savior's back in front of me.
Everything about him was threatening and lethal, and he was flaming with black fire.
As they come in contact with the dark heat encircling him, the plants around us wither.
F*ck his turning dark! Whoever touches him will meet death.
