Chapter Seven

John came in through the door to join him and asked, “Anything new on the cartel?”

John nodded. “Leon will want everyone to meet and greet. Which will happen tonight at dinner. You guys will get to meet Storm and his men. Then see Hawk, Iceman and Deke.”

“Did Deke bring his dad along with him?” James asked. “Sam or Bones as everyone calls him? The man is a real wildcard. He takes chances when he doesn’t have to.”

John chuckled. “Yeah, but mostly he takes chances with his awkward comments, that’s for sure.”

“Man, I got him in a video Shay sent me a while back.” He looked at his laptop, brought up the file and clicked it. “You will wanna see this.” James tapped the player.

On the screen...

Shay strode up to where the group stood. He held a blank expression like always, but his eyes looked enraged. He stood and looked around, taking in the absolute carnage.

Bodies littered the ditches as metal still burned on the road beside them. Smoke swirled up from several different areas. There were wrecked piles of metal and what looked like carnage alongside that.

He took a slow spanning look until his hard gaze again, came to the group.

“Hey, Colonel Montross,” Sam greeted him with the Gatling gun sitting at his feet. “How’s it hanging?”

The group all looked over at him while shaking their heads.

Shay shook his head as he replied, “Fucking Sam.” He let out a heavy sigh. “Aren’t you a bit over armed?”

Sam shook his head. “Hell Shay, there ain’t no such thing.”

Some of the group sniggered.

Shay looked over at them all. “You guys swore to...” He halted and tossed up his arms. “Why do I even try?”

Sam opened his mouth to reply.

Shay held up his hand to cut him off. If he had to hear his voice one more time, he might really lose it. “Nah. Don’t even try. They came after you, right? And you all were just defending yourselves.”

They all had the good grace to look a bit sheepish. As this had been what they’d told him the last two times he came to clean up their messes.

“This trip of yours has already racked up a hundred thousand dollars in manpower, clean up, and smooth overs, so no one would ask questions. I think I will be changing what I have previously called you from Silver Warriors to Gold Warriors.”

“Well damn,” Viking spoke up. “That’s a promotion right?”

The group all let out laughter.

Shay still looked disgusted and did not seem to see any humor in this situation at all.

They all looked up to now see several black SUV’s, an ambulance and 2 tow trucks, along with police cars, coming off the freeway exit.

Shay shook his head.

James was correct, John did in fact laugh. “Well, this is one time we might need Bones to take any chance he can. If this plan fails, the city of Boston will change forever. Leon is well respected here because he deserves that respect. If the cartel wins, the whole city will be in ruins.”

James just smiled at him and replied, “Then let’s not allow the cartel to win.

Leon isn’t going to go down without one hell of a fight and now he has his own small army to battle in the trenches.

Just the two women warriors we brought can kick more ass than you would ever believe.

Both trained as hitwomen they can be scary as fuck.

Well, except when they are giving manicures I guess? ”

John paused to stare at him in confusion.

“Never mind.” James laughed as he waved his hands at him.

An hour later..

Leon called everyone to the dinner.

Four very large black men came in and sat at Leon’s dinner table.

No one stared rudely but there were some curious expressions among the VIM group.

“Damn,” Sheba broke the quiet. “They make em big in Boston.”

Ari agreed with her cousin. “Right? I already knew the Sins and Sinners were pretty large, but you all are huge.”

Both VIM girls laughed.

Leon came in and sat at the head of the table.

When everyone settled into their chairs, Leon stood to introduce the newcomers, “I’d like you to meet some new men who have joined Vincinti security. They came recommended by Jelly Bean. This is Storm, Tornado, Frost and Lightning. Earlier today, they guarded our back door and no one got through.”

Bane stood and held out his hand to them.

At first, Storm just stared at the hand then he rose and shook it. Bane offered his hand to all four of them and they all shook it back.

Leon smiled slightly then introduced Storm and his men to the others, “Gentlemen, please meet, Bane Jessin, Cane Jessin, Orrin Jessin. Along with James Branken, Sheba and Ari Jessin.”

Storm just stared at Bane then shook his head slightly. “Bane Jessin? The assassin, Bane Jessin?” His words were softly spoken.

Bane turned to stare at Storm. “Yes, I used to kill men for money. I never killed anyone that didn’t deserve it nor did I go after women or kids. But that was a long while ago. Now all of us are under VIM and we only go after the really bad ones. You might even say we only help the underdog.”

“What the hell is VIM?” Tornado asked.

“Vengeance is Mine,” James clarified.
