Chapter Three

Later that night...

Tornado, Frost and Lightning left the mansion and disappeared into the darkness.

Leon stood in his den and watched this then he moved away. He turned, walked to his bar and poured himself a drink.

His men were still watching Pinto and his group. John told his men to just watch and not interfere with Storm’s men.

Leon finished his drink then walked over to his sofa and laid down.

He raised one arm and flung it up over his head to stare at the ceiling.

He closed his eyes but it took him a long time to close his mind down.

This had been a week from hell. He hoped it was near the end.

Never in his memory had his family been attacked like this.

He paused.

No that wasn’t true.

Several years ago, the enemy had gotten through the gates at the Vincinti estate.

John nodded at Calderone. “We got a tank at the gates. Better grab a weapon, Mr. Vincinti.” He motioned to the pile on the floor.

Willow marched over and stared down at the pile. “They are all so big...” She paused and raised a small rifle then put it to her shoulder and tested the sights. “Ok, this will do.”

Calderone was now staring at his wife.

“There’s more ammo in the box, Willow,” Anna pointed at it.

Willow went over and looked through it. “Oh! I got it.” She stood and went over to the table with her small box in hand.

Leon and Calderone were blinking in disbelief.

“Get armed, honey!” Evelyn called out to a stupefied Leon.

Leon huffed but set his cell phone on the flower table and pulled his two favorite guns from his vest.

John turned from the window. “They just ran through the gates and men are pouring out of—”

Bullets started to rain up against the house.

“It’s okay,” John called out. “The windows are bulletproof.”

Meena stepped over, grabbed Leon’s phone up, and stared at the screen. She ran over to John, grabbing his arm. “Everyone fall back!” She tugged at John’s arm as she yelled. Exasperated, she raised the phone to his eyes.

John stared at it. “Fire in the hole!” he shouted as he now pulled Meena away. “Head to the living room!”

The men all rushed toward the main room, away from the front.

Leon and everyone else ran into the main room to duck behind the couches.

“It’s a rocket launcher!” Tony shouted from somewhere in the room.

The front of the house exploded as glass, metal, wood and debris flew everywhere. The sound was deafening. Dust and smoke drifted out as the explosion reached the main room, spitting debris everywhere.

Covering their heads, the entire group knelt on the floor while hiding behind furniture. The ceiling buckled and scraps of sheetrock rained down on them.

Screams could be heard as some of the security men were hit with glass and wood.

Evelyn rose up, concerned at the yells of pain.

Leon tugged her down. “You stay down!” he ordered. Rising up slowly, he shouted, “John?”

“Yeah, here. Meena is good too.”

“Calderone?” Leon called.

“Yes! We are good,” his son called back.

“Anna?” Evelyn shouted.

“I’m okay!” she called back.

“Ok, men. Get ready to defend,” John yelled. “Take your shots!”

The sound of booted feet clattered along the wrecked entryway as this unknown enemy rushed their attack in full force now.

The Vincintis and their women all waited as they took positions.

Men in fatigues rushed in. There looked to be 7 of them or maybe ten.

“Fire!” John shouted.

Bullets flew, hitting some of the men attacking. Then some ducked for cover.

Meena raised her machine gun up over the couch back, centered it, and let loose.

Metal pinged with a rapid peltering and the sound of the gun deafened all who were in the vicinity. John covered one ear with his free hand and backed up from her.

Men were hit right and left as some bullets went through the walls and beyond. The attackers were now screaming and shouting as they scattered for cover.

Willow raised her rifle and waited for a good shot.

A man appeared to be sneaking in through the other entrance.

Willow took aim and squeezed.

The man was hit in the forehead and he went down with a thud.

Calderone stared at his petite, blonde wife for a few stunned seconds. Then he turned to fire on another attacker.

Leon was shooting at anything that moved while swearing, “Figli di puttana in casa mia!” Motherfuckers in my house! He took shot after shot. Then his guns were empty. He felt a tug on his sleeve. Huffing in annoyance, he looked down.

Evelyn, his sweet-faced wife with her auburn hair covered in dust, was holding up a small box of ammo, matching his weapon.

He blinked at her in surprise then grabbed it to reload.

Calderone pulled Willow back down. “What the hell woman? What are you thinking?”

Willow looked serious as she reloaded her gun. She gave no answer.

Calderone took aim and hit one of the men who got too close.

John was firing but he tried to keep an eye on Meena at the same time.

Seems she had reloaded and set the heavy gun back on the couch top.

Meena was too busy taking shots to stop her as he grunted and moved over a bit as last time he almost got blinded by the flying metal shells from her monster gun.
