Chapter One
Enraged, Jelly turned then and marched down the long hall toward the door leading to the basement where the cells were located.
Rebel, John. Lucinda and Leon weren’t far behind her.
She came to stand in front of the cell he was in and she growled at the sight of him laying there staring at the ceiling. “Ricco, you are a damn fool.” She growled.
Ricco snorted but didn’t say anything for a long moment. Then he slowly turned his head and glared at her. “You attacked me while my back was turned.” He wore a bruise on his forehead and his ankle was swollen up. “You are nothing but a stupid woman who got lucky.”
Rebel scoffed. “You’re the lucky one. She should have killed you.”
Jelly Bean reached out and wrapped her hands around the bars between them. “At least I’m on the other side of these bars and I’m free,” she snapped at him.
“I’m not worried, puta. I’ll be free soon enough.” He growled. “My boys got my back.”
“Your boys?” Rebel asked. “You think there’s actually someone coming to save your sorry ass?”
Ricco nodded as he smirked. “Yeah and I’ll tell you why. You see I got something they want real bad.”
“Is that a fact?” Jelly Bean now looked very amused. “Well, I don’t hate informing you that the cartel you came all this way to impress is gone. Like allllll gone.”
Rebel nodded as she added, “They got blown up in an abandoned warehouse, three days ago. Then the missing three were tracked down by some nasties to be taken out. But you still got two of them right over there.” She pointed at Silva and Ortega.
Jelly Bean now added her own challenge, “You can ask them if you don’t believe us.”
Ricco looked in the direction they had pointed to. He couldn’t see anything from where he sat. “Quién está ahí?” Who’s there?” he called out.
“Silva,” one of them responded.
“Ortega,” the other one called back.
“What the hell happened to you vatos?” Ricco asked them.
Silva spoke loudly as he replied, “The familia is dead and we will soon join them.”
Leon arrived to the cell room now. He stood next to Jelly Bean and Rebel.
Ortega looked over at Leon and snarled his response to Ricco, “We were hunted down in the streets by gringos and Italian trash. They knew exactly where we would go, thanks to Lucinda Martell. She betrayed us.”
Ricco scoffed as he told them, “Vaya, do not worry about that Lucy-slut. No hay problema... I have made arrangements for her demise already.” He looked up at Jelly Bean and Rebel then at Leon as he smirked.
“My man will come for me and you will finally die by his hand. Lo juro por Dios... I swear to God, he will kill you all.”
Now someone rushed in from the steps. It was Lucinda and she looked boiling mad.
“Vaya, Ria already told me what you brought her here to do and I hope you burn in hell for what you planned ustedes, demonios.” You demons.
“I have been neglected all my life, spit on, beaten up and played for a fool every day since the day I was born. I sure as hell never asked to be in your family either. That was my mother’s decision.
You all think you’re so much better than me...
well let me tell you I’m glad that I do not belong to the Gondo family and that name is not mine.
Si, that name is worthless now. It means nada.
But it is no loss to the world as it was a dirty word even before that.
Anyone associated with it is dead or behind bars.
At least now no one else will suffer under your hands, you black hearted vatos.
Or the Gondos. You are all bad seeds of your own making and the world will be a better place without you in it. ”
There were men coming down the stairs now. Benzo was being escorted by Lightning and Tornado.
Benzo had heard some of what Lucinda had said. He then looked up and met Jelly Bean’s gaze then Lucinda’s and gave her a slow nod. But he didn’t say a word. He slowly hung his head and stared at the floor.
Ricco ignored the arrivals or he did not see them as he growled at Lucinda.
“Ay mentiras. Nothing but lies. You were just jealous anyway. When I walk out of here, I’ll gladly step over your dead body, you little piece of nothing.
I have a bullet with your name on it and I will gladly put it right in your head.
My men will not let me stay here. Their leader will come for me. ”
Jelly Bean stared at Ricco. “Awww, don’t you worry, we’ll find this big hero of yours. And when we do, I will stomp him into the ground so hard he won’t know what hit him and he’ll die cursing your name.”
“Is that a threat, nina pequena?” Ricco scoffed. “Because it doesn’t scare me.”
Jelly Bean narrowed her eyes as hate filled her face and she smiled wickedly.
“No little dickweed, it’s not, it is my promise to you.
I have more weapons than just a baseball bat.
” She gave Leon a nod, then turned and headed to the steps.
Before she exited the room, she looked back at Ricco and smirked.
“You think you got an army coming to rescue you? Well, I got a real army behind me and we will take yours down before they know what hit them.” She left the room.
Rebel gave them a nod and followed her out.
Leon stared at Ricco.
Ricco finally spotted a crestfallen Benzo and he looked ashen when he did. He now started to sweat just a little bit.
Lightning and Tornado put a beaten Benzo into his own cell.
“How did you get caught, you dumbass?”
Benzo scoffed. “Vaya, maldita sea! You were here before I got here. Don’t act like you did so good, brother.”
Glancing at Silva while ignoring the pair arguing, Leon noticed that Silva was more than a little disturbed as well.
Leon then put his hand on Lucinda’s shoulder and turned her away from the cells.
“Let us go, Lucinda. You and Ria have a new life to live. These men are not worth your time as they will be a squashed memory very soon. They will dwell in the darkness of hell.” He led her to the stairs going up to the main floor.
John stepped through the door of the staircase entrance. He firmly closed it behind him and locked it.
Then the lights went out, leaving the whole room in the darkness Leon had mentioned.
