Chapter Four
Ria looked at her and asked, “Why do you want to see this awful man...What did he do?”
Jelly Bean looked angry as she explained, “He kidnapped a very dear friend of mine and he’s using him to trap us. If we can’t get Oscar back soon, I’m afraid Mac will kill him.”
Ria’s tears fell silently down her face before she whispered, “I hope you find your friend soon.”
Jelly Bean nodded at her. “Thanks to you, I have some hope now.” Then she turned and walked out.
Ria looked up at Frost and asked, “What are her chances of finding him?”
Frost smiled grimly. “Better than average.”
“Better than average? What does that mean?”
Frost looked at her and sighed. “Oscar is like a father to Jelly Bean. When she was four years old, he found her sitting in a park all alone. Her shitty dad brought her to the park and left her there with only a bag of jelly beans then he left her there. Oscar saw it happen. He feared for her, like would this dad of hers try to get rid of her if he were ever found. So, he took her to his place and raised her the best he could. He had a lot of help but he’s the one who stayed.
Her own father just walked away and she was too little to even know her own name.
Oscar called her Jelly Bean and he became the only father she ever knew. ”
Ria stared at him then she whispered, “I think Big Mac just made a huge mistake, didn’t he?”
Frost chuckled. “Oh yeah, he did. And he doesn’t even know it yet but he will. He’s gonna learn that the hard way because Jelly Bean and her half-sister, Rebel don’t mess around.”
“What does that mean?” Ria asked.
“She is what we would call a warrior. Most men cannot face her and win.” He grinned. “In fact, I do not ever want to fight the Bean.”
Ria was stunned as she gazed at the door. “How did she come to be here? At the Vincinti estate?”
“From what I know, she approached one of John’s security men.
Nick, he is helping to guard Leon’s son right now but he’s the one who brought Jelly Bean here.
She had information that Leon and John needed.
The thing was she didn’t like being here...
in the mansion, I mean. Storm told me her and Nick are together, but she is bullheaded and like I told you, she was abandoned as a kid, so... ”
Ria nodded. “I understand that. I was never abandoned but I lost everything and only had my slimy brothers left. And you saw what they did.”
Frost scoffed angrily. “Some brothers they are. You barely made it. I thought you were a goner in that trash bin when we found you, girl. But they are both in a cell now and you never have to see them again, Ria. I promise.”
She took his hand. “I feel safe finally and I hope what Ricco did does not end up with this Oscar dead. Santa Madre, that would be terrible.”
He shook his head. “We can’t think like that.
Jelly Bean and Rebel will be gunning for Big Mac and his men.
Oscar is some kind of legend around Boston.
He’s helped all the unfortunates, the homeless and people who needed a second chance.
For years. He’s got friends everywhere and every one of those friends will go to bat for him.
And if Jelly Bean and Rebel lead them? Well, let’s just say, Mac doesn’t stand a chance in hell. Ocean or not.”
Ria smiled. “Good, this man Mac... He doesn’t deserve a chance. I heard Ricco brag about his misdeeds. He deserves hell's fire and brimstone coming down on him.”
