Bits of Badass Women 11

Peaches and Tula...

Iceman spoke up as he asked, “So what did you girls find out, when you went back?”

Tula looked over at Peaches and she nodded.

Peaches went back to the bed and sat down.

She swiped at her tears and told them, “We found out that these men made a deal with some other guys, really bad men that helped them escape. In exchange, all they had to do was make a distraction while some other men brought down a member of the ruling family, a move that they coordinated with another group in another country. It would be timed just right, so they could get a double whammy and bust up a powerful family. I’m afraid it could be my family.

All Walter and Orlan were supposed to do is cause a distraction while these other guys did the dirty deed.

” She paused then said, “But once Walter got his freedom, he didn’t care about the deal he struck.

He was going to track Tula down and beat her to death then collect the money and disappear to a beach somewhere, so he could live like a king. ”

Hawk glared at her and asked, “And Orlan Grant? What was he going to do?”

Peaches shook her head. “He was going to follow through with the deal he made to get out of prison. He knew those other men were dangerous and that if they failed, they would come after them and put a bullet in their heads. He might have come here to make a point and he talked about wanting Iceman to see me broken and bleeding before he killed him but that’s just stupid on his part.

Jesse wouldn’t stop hunting him down if he hurt me, not to mention what my father and grandfather would do to him.

Apparently, they didn’t know who my family is. ”

Leon walked into the room about that time.

He came over and enveloped Peaches into an embrace.

He simply held her for a full couple of minutes as everyone in the room sat in silence.

Finally, he pulled back and he indicated that he had heard the last statement she made as he growled, “Bene, they are about to find out, my dear girl. I have men out on the street looking for them and as soon as I find them, they will learn the hard way just who your family is.” Then he looked over at Tula and asked, “And how are you doing my dear?”

Tula nodded. “I’m doing. The bruises will heal. Peaches, you have to tell him what we found out. He needs to know so he can prepare for what’s to come.”

Peaches nodded. “I know.” She turned to her grandfather and told him what they had learned. That it looked like an assassination plot to get rid of the leaders of the Familia in Boston.

When she finished, Leon took her hand and looked at her with a smile.

“Mia cara, this is nothing new. I have battled such threats since long before you were born. Men who want power and they think killing me will be easy. That they will be able to step into my shoes and take my place in the world. But they don’t even know how to play the game.

They think they hold all the power and yet, they still want more.

But they would be dead wrong, wouldn’t they?

They want power they haven’t earned and they will learn a harsh lesson if they think by killing me they will automatically gain my seat.

This shows their true ignorance of the Familia.

” He shook his head. “All they will gain is a bullet in their heads, their families will all die and whatever they hold dear will be lost as a consequence. I do not kill families. However, the Familia has no such conscience. They still play by some old rules that I cannot interfere with. They will lose everything when the smoke clears. Here and in Italy. The Familia will insist on righting the wrong they tried to do. They will be striped of everything they own and have owned in a hundred years. That’s just the way they do things. ”

“Grandpa, how can you speak of this like it’s already done and you just walked away from it?” Peaches asked.

Leon looked at her then said, “Many have tried this before...tried and failed. We have several suspects to choose from. All we need to do is follow the money. There had to be green involved in getting those two out of prison. I too have men on the inside. They will reveal what happened.’

Iceman shook his head. “And you’re going to sit back and wait for the attack to begin?”

Leon chuckled. “Oh, my son. Non temere mai. I will do no such thing. I will prepare my own army and wait, then before these men can even begin, I will take them down. I will leave them with nothing and make sure they know it. Then my men will tort...” He paused and looked at Tula then Peaches as if he didn’t wish to say this in front of them.

“Just know that what was done today to Peaches and Miss Tula has repercussions that keep on giving.” His eyes glittered as he looked at Iceman then Hawk.

“You may want revenge but alas, these men who freed those felons will pay in screams and blood first. They will learn a harsh lesson not to mess with things they cannot control.”

The next day...

The docks were quiet as the water lapped at the sides of the boats in their slips. It was a peaceful scene that many Bostonians enjoyed here. The docks were a great place to live if you were fortunate to own a boat.

One such boat wasn’t quiet however as it had loud voices rippling from it.

“We are gonna die!” Orlan yelled. “And you are too drunk to even sit up!” Orlan kicked at Walter.

“Nah, we aren’t going to...” Walter let out a long burp. “...die.”

“Lenny, who owns this boat, told me that Leon Vincinti’s granddaughter has been nabbed.” Orlan paced the small space.

“So?” Walter asked.

“So, we are the ones who nabbed her!”

“Hawk’s wife is a Vincinti?”

“No, stupid, the other chick we took.”

“Oh, well that’s your bad, ain’t it?” Walter informed him. “I only wanted Tula and now she’s dead. So, fuck that.”

“You think that they are going to let you go?” Orlan argued. “You are a fucking idiot!”

Walter shrugged. “We’ll be out at sea. They won’t know.”

The door to the cabin slammed open and it came off the hinges. Iceman stepped in and held his gun on them. “We know.”

Hawk came to stand next to him as he glared at Walter. “And Tula is alive but that won’t help you.”

Orlan produced his own gun from his waistband. “I’m not gonna be caught!” he spanned it over to Hawk.

Iceman shook his head. “You really should keep that itty bitty pistol aimed at me, not at Hawk.”

“Why?” Orlan sneered. “He’ll be just as dead as you will be.”

“No one will die here except for the two of you,” Hawk growled. “Because you have to face us now. Not two women.”

Iceman agreed, “And this time there will be no trial.” Without taking his eyes off Orlan, he pulled the trigger hitting the hand Orlan was using to hold the gun.

The gun flew out of his grip and went off but the bullet only hit the hull wall.

Iceman was still holding his gun then he stepped over and wrenched Orlan’s bloody hand sideways.

They all heard the snap of Orlan’s wrist.

Orlan held his broken wrist with his left hand as he snarled. “You bastard, you broke my wrist!”

Iceman nodded. “I sure did. But it is only the first break, asshole.”

Dropping his left hand, Orlan came back up, holding a knife. “Well asshole, I got two hands.”

Iceman just stared at him and asked, “Are you sure you want to try that with me?”

“Yeah, I’m not gonna just let you kill me.” Orlan scoffed.

Casually, Iceman dropped his hand down to unbuckle his own knife and pulled it from the sheath. The knives were about the same size but Iceman’s was a heavier weight than Orlan’s. “Let’s see what we can do about you having TWO hands, eh?”

Orlan’s eyes widened slightly and he licked his lips in nervousness.

With great skill, Iceman turned his knife, flipping it out sideways in a skilled maneuver. It drew first blood immediately.

In the meantime, Walter had slumped down onto the floor from the bed and was crawling away.

Hawk stepped over and used his boot to kick him in the ribs.

The crack of his ribs could be heard in the small cabin with a... SNAP!

With a huge gasp of breath, Walter rolled over while holding his side. “Fuuuccck!”

“How did that feel?” Hawk glared down at him. “You did that to my wife, motherfucker. Only I’m going to break all of yours.” He kicked him again.

Grunting in pain, Walter rolled over onto his other side.

Hawk kicked him again on that side. Then a third time. The cracks and snaps were loud.

Crying now, Walter curled up into a ball.

Orlan ignored his partner’s cries as he had his own worries.

Or worry... as in Iceman, all 6 foot 4, and 250 pounds of him looked ready and even eager as he passed his knife back and forth in his hands. “Let’s do this then. I haven’t had a good knife fight in a long ass time. And this won’t be a good one but I’ll take it.”

“You’re gonna pay for my broken hand!” Orlan stepped back.

Curling his finger at him, Iceman gestured for him to come forward. “Come on and try me.”

Orlan glared at him and took the first jab.

Iceman easily parried and struck out at him. He viciously cut Orlan’s good hand and ripped it up.

Orlan was surprised and he screamed at the sight of blood on his arm and his hand. “You fucking cut me! How the hell did you do that?”

“Hell, I’m just warming up, cupcake. Told you I haven’t had a good knife fight in a bit,” Iceman quipped as if he was having way too much fun now. “So, get your empty ass head on straight and let’s do this.”

Orlan backed away again as blood ran down his arm and his hand.

Iceman scoffed. “Oh, for fuck’s sake, what happened? Thought I was gonna pay? Be a man for once and stand your ground, numb nuts.”

With his right wrist snapped and holding the knife in his left hand, Orlan tried to get close to Iceman again. But it wasn’t even a fight, let alone a good fight. Iceman nicked him a couple more times just toying with him and Orlan was bleeding enough that the knife became slippery in his hand.
