8. Nyle Brown #2

“Is that what you’re trying to do tonight?”

She eagerly nodded her head. “I am. Drunk karaoke is the best, and I haven’t been in so long. I figured it would be something fun for us to do.”

“I’m down for anything when it involves you. The last game should be over by four, so I can come get you around eight, once we get back to Maven Falls.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

If we weren’t around the team and parents, I would’ve kissed her cheek. Instead, I winked at her and went back to join the boys just as AJ came back over. He didn’t seem bothered as he chatted and ate his ice cream. All the while, I couldn’t pry my eyes from his mother.

Whatever Brittish was doing to me, I enjoyed it. I didn’t mind running around the bases to score a homerun with her. While the sex was good, I knew her heart was even better. Winning that would be the ultimate prize.

I arrived at Brittish’s house at eight on the dot, and she told me to come inside while she finished getting ready.

My dick jumped upon seeing her. The dark wash, high waisted jeggings she wore had her ass rippling something serious.

I had to talk myself down because as badly as I wanted to be in her, I wanted the night to have a different type of intimacy, one that sex couldn’t compare to.

She rushed off so quickly that she didn’t notice the flowers I held for her. I trailed behind her into her room where she sat on the bed to put her shoes on.

“I’m so sorry I’m not ready,” she rambled without looking up. “I’m usually on time, but I desperately needed a nap after being out in the sun all day.”

“It’s all good. I’m not in a rush.”

“I just want to make sure we get there and get good seats. You’re going to . . .” Her voice trailed off when she finally looked up at me. That beautiful smile of hers rose her cheeks as she stood up and examined the flowers. “They’re stunning, Nyle. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, Pretty Lady. You look amazing.”

“As do you. I like it when you wear your hair down. It’s so pretty.

” She stepped closer to me and placed her hand on my slightly exposed chest. I went to wrap my arm around her waist and stopped.

Immediately, Brittish noticed. Taking my arm, she snaked it around her waist to where my hand rested on the top of her ass.

Her head tilted to the side as she reminded me, “You don’t have to ask, Nyle.

I want nothing more than to feel your touch. ”

I traveled my hand down further to grip as much of her ass as I could and squeezed.

She bit her bottom lip before ours connected.

Three solid but sweet pecks, and I pulled away.

It was hard as hell not pinning her to the bed and fucking her to an oblivion, but I wanted us to enjoy the night. No sex, just vibes.

“If I ask to touch you, my bad. It’s been a habit for so long that I’m not sure how I’ll break it.”

“Have you always asked?”

I nodded. “I have.”

“How did other women feel about it?”

“Some thought it was weird, and it turned them off. They wanted a man who could just take charge and do what they pleased. Unfortunately, that’s not the type of man I am. Don’t get me wrong. I’m confident in myself, but I’m big on respect and not overstepping.”

“How did you navigate that?”

“I left them where they were. You’re the only person who I’ve felt comfortable sharing my story with,” I admitted, gently brushing one of her loose curls from her face. She took my hand and kissed my palm.

“I’m glad you did. Thank you.”

“No, thank you.”

“Let me go put these in water, and we can leave. Want to take a shot?”

“Of?”

“Tequila, of course. It’s the only liquor I can handle straight.”

“Lead the way.”

I loved when she took lead. She laced her fingers with mine, and we went to her kitchen. Closely, I watched as she placed her flowers in a red vase and grabbed two shot glasses.

Pulling out two bottles of liquor, Brittish asked, “White or brown?”

“Both.”

“Oh, two shots then?”

“You said drunk karaoke was the best, right? Let’s pregame.”

“Say less.”

As Brittish poured the shots, I crept up behind her and willed myself to embrace her. She leaned her head back against me, exposing her neck where I flicked my tongue before giving it a light suck.

“Mmm,” she moaned, reaching back and running her fingers through my curls. “You better stop before we don’t make it anywhere.”

I pecked the red spot on her neck, swiped my thumb over it, and backed away. “My bad.”

“That worked on me, if you must know.”

“Oh, I bet it did. As badly as I would love to bend you over this counter right now, I want us to just be in the moment tonight. No sex. You cool with that?”

Brittish picked up one glass and handed it to me. We toasted and threw our shots back before she said, “I’m perfectly fine with that, Nyle. While the sex is absolutely amazing, any time with you is as well.”

“Oh, trust me. The feeling is mutual.”

We took our last shot and headed out. On the ride to the bar, Brittish practiced her singing. She had me laughing so hard at how bad she sounded. I couldn’t say anything because I didn’t sound any better than she did, but I’d let her hear it when we got to the bar.

The GPS led us to a little hole-in-the-wall place, one that I knew probably had some good, strong drinks. The type where the bartenders didn’t measure out the liquor how they were supposed to. They measured with their hearts, while the cooks did the same in the back.

Hand in hand, Brittish and I walked into the building.

We were able to find a table closer to the front, where a waiter instantly came to get our drink order.

I settled for a Long Island Iced Tea, and Brittish ordered a Lemon Drop Martini.

It didn’t take long for our drinks to be done, and I slowly sipped on mine.

I’d never been big on drinking, so the shots from earlier had me feeling good.

Brittish circled her finger around the rim of her glass as she eyed me. I leaned over and pulled her chair next to mine. The way her eyes ballooned as she placed her hand over her heart caused me to laugh.

“Why you looking like that, Brittish?”

“Because you could’ve warned me that you were about to jerk me around like that. If you wanted me closer, all you had to do was ask.”

“Well, I made it happen. That’s even better, ain’t it?”

With a playful flit of her eyes, Brittish took a sip of her drink before nodding toward mine. “You’ve barely touched yours.”

“I know. I’m taking it slow. I’m a lightweight if you couldn’t tell. That’s how you ended up talking me right out my boxers the night we met.”

“I did not! It was you who coerced me to come with you.”

“See.” I picked up my drink, took a sip, and winked. “It was the liquor talking.”

“So what about the other day? What was your excuse then?”

“Nothing is ever an excuse with me, Pretty Lady. I’m always going to keep it real with you.

The other day was about me showing you appreciation for being understanding, for listening.

You’re allowing me to slowly let my guard down and be comfortable with you, Brittish.

You’re helping me see a different side of myself, one that feels secure growing out of my comfortability.

I don’t think you understand how hard it is for me to freely touch you.

It almost feels like I’m doing something wrong, but you immediately give me reassurance that everything is going to be fine. ”

I picked up her hand and kissed the back of it before leaning over and doing the same to her lips. Even in the dim lighting, I could see her cheeks become rosy. She briefly glanced away and sipped her drink. I picked up my phone and quickly snapped a picture of her.

“Look how beautiful you are,” I said, sliding my phone over to her.

Brittish carefully studied the picture and smiled. “That worked on me.” She gazed at me and admitted, “Everything you do works on me.”

“That’s been the goal all along.”

The host came over the microphone, gaining everyone’s attention. He’d ordered everyone a round of shots, so the servers and bartenders went around placing them on all the tables. My brow raised. Brittish snickered and elbowed me.

“Don’t punk out on me, Nyle. I said drunk karaoke, not sober.”

Picking the glass up and handing it to me, Brittish waited for me to toast with her. The burn cascading down my throat traveled through my nose as well. I just knew I was about to be on my ass.

Ten minutes later, and I’d polished off my drink.

I had to order some wings to put something else on my stomach.

When my eyes grew heavy, and I couldn’t keep my face from snuggling in Brittish’s neck, I knew I was feeling good.

She didn’t seem to mind. Her hand went straight to my head, and she started massaging my scalp.

“Alright. Don’t put me to sleep in here. I’m already worn out from today, and messing around with you has me feeling good,” I warned.

“You better not fall asleep on me. We only have two more sets before it’s our turn.”

“You might be going up there by yourself.”

Brittish tapped the back of my head, and I lifted it up.

She gave me a look that let me know she wasn’t playing with me, so I sat up and tried to shake off my tiredness.

Time went by quicker than I thought. Before I knew it, Brittish was pulling me up onto the stage.

She had picked out a song but wouldn’t tell me what it was, but the moment I heard the beat, my skin prickled with goosebumps.

The first note escaped Brittish’s mouth, and everyone in the crowd went wild.

She failed to tell me that she could sing.

What I heard in the truck was a stark difference than what I heard then.

I stood there, stuck and mesmerized as she sung to me.

I clung to every word and note, knowing each one was meant for me.

Just like that, she was able to get me to drown out everyone in the room and captivate me.
