19. Brittish Abernathy

Two weeks later . . .

I woke up to Nyle standing over me in nothing but an apron.

His muscles and tattoos were on full display, immediately making my kitten purr.

It was obvious he’d gotten out the bed and started cooking because his hair was wild and curly all over his head.

After our intimate session last night, he’d failed to put his bonnet on to cover his curls.

We’d both fallen asleep, naked, and wrapped in one another’s arms.

The perfect place for me to be.

My hands rubbed my eyes as I sat up and smiled at him. “What are you doing?”

“I just cooked us something to eat. I figured we needed to replenish our bodies after last night.”

“Oh, we do.”

I pictured his head between my thick thighs as he worked his tongue over my clit. He’d made me cum more times than I ever had in one night, and I wanted to relive the moment.

Since we’d been back in Maven Falls, our sex life had been on fire. I wasn’t sure if it was because of the time apart or because of how deeply emerged in our love we were, but we couldn’t get enough of one another. I didn’t mind. Nyle kept me satisfied in more than one way.

I placed my hands in his as he pulled me up and kissed my forehead.

“I love you, Brittish.”

“I love you too, Nyle.” With my chin resting on his chest, I gazed up at him. “Are you okay?”

“More than okay, and I have you to thank for it.”

“Oh, really? Is it because of the way I was throwing it back on you last night?”

Nyle chuckled as he rubbed my back. “That may have something to do with it.”

“I know.”

“While our sex life has been great, our love is what’s fulfilling me.

You’ve been giving me everything I need to push through and work through my emotions.

You remind me that I’m blessed and have so much to be grateful for.

You’ve given me something to cherish, something new and rewarding.

Why should I dwell on the past when I have so much to look forward to with you? ”

Every day, Nyle expressed his love and gratitude for me. Not one day had gone by to where he didn’t give me something, whether it was verbal or physical. Most days, it was both, and I wanted nothing more than to drown in it.

“You know what works on me, huh?” I half joked, and we shared a laugh.

“I do, but it’s all coming from the heart.”

“I know it is. I can feel it even when we’re not around one another.

I’m glad we’re experiencing life together.

You crossed my path, and I had no intention on keeping you there, but now, we’re on the same road.

We’re jumping over the same hurdles while enjoying the view.

I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else but you, Nyle. ”

“So, you know what that tells me?”

“What?”

“That we’re ready to get married.”

My neck jerked back, and my nose scrunched. I guess my expression wasn’t what Nyle expected because his shoulders dropped. He ran one hand through his wild hair and sighed.

“You’re serious, aren’t you?” I asked for clarification.

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

“So, you’re telling me if I wanted to marry you today, you’d do it?”

“We’d be at the courthouse before you could finish your sentence.”

I was baffled, but in a good way. My body was covered in goosebumps as I stepped out his embrace and paced in front of him. “Would you really?”

“I can show you better than I can tell you, Brittish. We would go get AJ and make it happen. And before you ask why you and why now, it’s because you’ve gotten me through the darkest time of my life without judgment, baby.

You did the shit with nothing but love and grace.

You’ve seen the ugliest parts of me, the darkest parts of me. That’s something only soulmates share.

“Every day, I wake up thinking about how I can repay you. I think about what I can do to make your life better, how I can love you better. All I desire to do is cater to your every want and need along with AJ’s.

I think of how I can live up to being his bonus father.

I’ve thought about reaching out to Zaina and Asher to get on the same page as well.

” Nyle invaded my personal space by gently palming the side of my face and stroking my cheek with his thumb.

“See how comfortable I am with touching you? You helped me work through that, and there’s nothing more I love feeling than your skin again mine, Brittish.

Why wouldn’t I want to spend the rest of my life with you? ”

I’d been keeping it together the best I could. My bottom lip stung from the constant biting, but the second I released it, the tears fell. His words were beautiful and heartfelt. Nyle spoke with conviction. I would be insane to question if he meant any of it.

Our lips connected, and I swear, the high I felt had me feeling as if I was in another realm. The kiss was hard, but not to the point it was uncomfortable. It more so felt like our emotions were taking over, and we were losing control. Nothing sexual, only pure love pouring through us.

When we finally disconnected, I grabbed Nyle’s wrist and rested my forehead against his. “Mrs. Brittish Brown has as ring to it, doesn’t it?”

“Hell yeah. I’ve never heard anything better.”

“You don’t think this is too fast, do you?”

“Not at all. Timing is all up to God, and I’ve prayed about this. I’ve prayed about you. Marrying you has been heavily on my heart. I know it’s right.”

“So, are we going to get married with no rings?”

“I will, but you won’t.”

I snapped my head up. “Huh?”

“Oh, I meant it when I said I’d been talking to God about this.

” Nyle went over to his bag and pulled out a red, velvet box.

“I was serious. Even Dr. Morgan encouraged me to do what I felt on my heart. I talk to her about you at every session, and she agrees that you’re one of the best things to happen to me. Your father approved too.”

“Wait, when did you talk to him?”

“Just know that I did.” Nyle smirked.

When Nyle got down on one knee, I wanted to pass out.

Never would I have imagined he’d propose to me wearing nothing but an apron, but it was the sweetest, sexiest thing he’d ever done.

I stood in front of him as he opened the box, revealing a five-carat, princess-cut diamond ring with a gold band. It was absolutely stunning.

“A carat for each month we’ve been in each other’s lives.

For me, it represents how time doesn’t matter when it comes to love.

Whenever someone asks you about the ring, you can explain what each carat means by each month.

” Before he even asked the question, Nyle slid the ring on my finger. “Will you marry me, Pretty Lady?”

“Only under one condition.”

“What’s that?”

“That we wait until Friday.”

“We can wait until next year if you want. As long as you’re mine, I don’t mind.”

“Well, yes. I will be your wife, Nyle.”

I squealed as he scooped me up and spun around in circles. He playfully slammed me on the bed and kissed me with his hair surrounding us. My hands brushed it back before going to his scalp, which led to him resting his head on my chest.

If that was how we’d spend the rest of our lives, I would be the happiest woman on Earth.

Mrs. Nyle Brown.

Yeah, that worked on me.
