Chapter 9 The Warning Grip
He looked at me deeply before walking toward the room. "Close the door."
He tossed the porridge onto the table with force. Seafood porridge spilled out because of how hard he threw it.
Song Chengyuan pushed me against the wall, using as much strength as he had with the porridge.
Pain shot through my back. I let out a soft groan.
Dealing with Song Chengyuan required staying alive.
He stepped closer and placed his hand lightly on my neck, as if deciding how to act.
"Did you not understand what I said earlier?"
His hand tightened suddenly around my throat. The feeling of suffocation made it hard to breathe.
His low, angry voice sounded beside my ear.
"You thought I was joking, hmm?"
Just as my vision started to blur, Song Chengyuan released his grip.
I collapsed to the floor and coughed hard.
The man was ruthless. I had been too careless.
I could not let him choke me for nothing.
After a moment, I opened my eyes, which were filled with tears, and looked up at him.
My eyes shimmered with water, soft and fragile.
Whether prey or hunter, who could tell?
