Tanya, Cousin of the Bride
I, for one, never doubted Hena’s innocence. Don’t look at me that way, I’m serious. The way everyone gossiped and tore that poor girl apart after all she had been through?
Unconscionable, really.
When it comes down to it, the issue is when things go wrong, people want someone to blame, and the black sheep that doesn’t follow the crowd is often the first one picked out for dissection. It may be human nature as one tries to make sense of tragedy, but that doesn’t make it right.
It broke my heart seeing the girls at their mother’s funeral a few weeks after the wedding.
Auntie Frida’s decline was precipitous, but Hena had stayed in Florida a little longer to look after her mother alongside Lulu.
They were both with her until the end. Both girls looked so forlorn that day, but they are in far better spirits at today’s one-year memorial.
It was a truly lovely ceremony. The video commemorating Frida’s life was so moving.
Not a dry eye in the room. She would have loved it.
They held it at Lulu’s resort, which is in full swing.
I heard she’s gone back to culinary school, but she’s still doing a wonderful job with this place.
I think she was onto something with this whole eco-sheco thing.
Oh, and that boy was with Hena. You know, the one she met at Lulu’s wedding? Reza, I think. He’s a handsome one. And dare I say, the way they looked at each other, the way she leaned into him, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another wedding on the horizon.
Speaking of marriage, I was so surprised to hear what happened to Maheen. Her poor husband and that horrific skiing fiasco all the way up on Whistler Mountain!
Funny coincidence, though, isn’t it? I heard from her cousin’s best friend that she had learned he was having an affair earlier that week. And now? He may never walk again.
I’m not saying the two are connected. Coincidences are a real thing.
But if you want my two cents? I think her smiley, bubbly bit is just that—a bit. Because honestly, just look at Maheen. I do not trust her at all.
