Chapter 21 #2
I nibbled her ear and lifted one of her knees, hooking it under my arm and languidly thrusting in and out of her. “You got far more control than you think.”
Aurora moaned at that, digging her nails into the back of my head.
After several more bucks of my hips and she pushing her ass back, we came undone together.
My balls tightened as I spilled inside her.
The idea of it starting in her nest, to imagine she was actually experiencing a heat, had me jerking, the wave carrying into my neck.
We collapsed onto the couch. Aurora bunched my comforter to her nose as if the source of said scent wasn’t inches away from her. I chuckled, pushing strands from her brow, mesmerized by her now-sparkling caramel eyes. “How you feelin’, sweetheart?”
“Like a new vampire.” Aurora bit into her lip before flipping onto her back, smiling at me upside down.
I kissed her from this angle, my beard tickling her nose. “New?”
“I’m sure you’re not surprised, but I’ve never fed on a shifter before.
It’s so different. So—” She turned back onto her stomach, hair doing this sexy as fuck swoosh.
“—powerful. I’m sure your alpha status helps too.
” Aurora trailed her fingers over the fading puncture wounds that by now would look like two fresh scars before disappearing entirely. “I might be addicted.”
“Good.” I smacked her ass. “You deserve to feel like yourself and then some, Rory. Drinkin’ from me doesn’t pose a risk.”
“It really doesn’t.” Aurora licked her lips and pressed her nose to my neck.
Playfully, I nuzzled her cheek. “You’re a lush.”
“You’re right. I better wait. Consuming large amounts of blood for vampires is like a human devouring a whole chocolate cake at once.”
“A sugar-high and uncomfortable belly?” I raised a brow.
Aurora lifted her feet behind her, crossed at the ankles, idly waving them. “Basically, but have you really thought about us doing that since that night?”
Nodding, I pressed a light kiss to her lips. “Really.”
Waffles barked by the tarp.
“Shit. Your blood even has me feeling like I can take on the sun, which I cannot.” Aurora sighed and pointed at the soft peach light sneaking through slits in the tarp. “I have Waffles trained to warn me.” She ruffled his head when he trotted over to her, cooing, “Good boy.”
“Let’s get on down there, then.” We moved from the couch to the cellar, hand in hand, Aurora’s step notably lighter.
We lay down. I stroked my fingers over Aurora’s curves. She turned to face me when I’d gone quiet and searched my eyes. “What are you thinking about?”
Good gods, what wasn’t I thinking about?
Opting to remain neutral, I lost my nerve and asked, “What year were you born? I mean really born, not turned.”
Aurora’s eyes froze open. “You sure you want to know?”
I squinted at her. “Yes?”
Aurora took a deep breath. “Eighteen ninety-six.”
I sprang up, resting my arms on my knees. “You were born in the eighteen hundreds, Rory?”
She sat up with me. “I told you, you might not want to know.”
“No, I don’t care. I mean, I do. Guess I wasn’t expectin’ that.”
Aurora hung her hand on my shoulder and rested her chin on it. “And you?”
Aurora looked no older than thirty, so it shocked me despite my being no stranger to the existence of immortality. Wolves, albeit slowly, still took on grey hair and the occasional wrinkle. Vampires stayed the way they looked from the day one turned them.
I scratched the back of my head. “Nineteen fifty-six.”
A straight, villainous grin slid across Aurora’s lips. She rose to her knees and took my face in her hands. “Sixty years your senior. I’ve seemed to have nabbed myself a young buck.”
As if I couldn’t be more into this woman.
Her chin held between my fingers, I drew her close for a kiss. “Got myself a cougar.”
Aurora laughed and tackled me onto the bed.
Beneath her, I let her lie on top of me, propping my head with my hand. “You probably didn’t grow up in the states bein’ when you were born, did you?”
“No, I didn’t. I was born in Wales.” She rested her chin on my chest.
I slowly nodded. “Now that you say it, I can see it. Though don’t hear an ounce of accent.”
“Not surprising. I left a few years after I got away from my maker. You can still catch me dropping a phrase or two out of habit, though. I hopped through Europe for a bit before eventually settling in the States, exploring most of them, and then found Arcane Cove.”
“And durin’ that exploring you saddled up in Texas for a while, hm?” I flashed her a grin as I traced my finger down the length of her spine.
“And met a man who drove me hog-wild.” The vamp bit one of my pecs, but not with her fangs, just a quick nip. “What about you?”
“Not as grand a story as you got. Was born and raised in Texas. Pure country boy through and through. No one’s takin’ this drawl from me.” I tipped an imaginary hat.
“They had better not. I quite like it.” Aurora crawled over me to reach my lips, placing a tender kiss there.
For close to an hour, we kissed, we groped and licked, yet she drifted off before we could take things further. I held her in my arms, her scent having grown stronger since feeding on me, and it only intensified with each passing day.
