Chapter Forty-One
The start of the weekend has been great.
Axe and I stayed up practically all night talking about movies, birthdays, memories, interests and more.
It felt good to have a normal conversation with him.
I feel it will be easy for us to fall into a comfortable homey place.
We're on the couch in a blanket just watching tv.
It's dinner time soon so I may get up and make something since we haven't had a proper meal for a few days.
“What should we have for dinner?” I ask.
“You decide.” Axe grabs the remote and looks through the channels.
“Well I should get started now then.”
I get up and go to the kitchen. Axe can still see me while I cook.
The living room is right across from the kitchen and so is the dining room.
But it's so spacious; you could have a party here.
I look around the kitchen, trying to get an idea of what to cook.
There's a knock at the front door, which makes Axe sit up.
“Dash wouldn't knock,” he voices, then stands up and opens the door. A young girl is standing there looking nervous. “Hi Miss, are you alright?”
“Y-You said to come to you if I have something to report.” She's staring at her feet. She can't even look Axe in the eye.
“Okay, come to my office.” Axe opens the door for her and she steps in. “This way.” He walks to the staircase but she doesn't follow so he turns around.
“Can she be there while we talk?” she asks, gesturing to me.
“Of course.” Axe frowns but waits for me to follow them.
We go upstairs to Axe's office and he sits behind the desk while she sits in the chair in front. I sit beside her.
“Whatever you have to say, go ahead, Miss. I need your name and age first.” Axe nods.
“I'm Elle. I'm fifteen. Umm, something happened and I didn't know who to go to. But after your meeting, I knew I had to say it. You helped her, so maybe you can help me,” Elle murmurs.
“Anything I can.”
“Umm... a few weeks ago... I...” her voice is so quiet and shaky.
“You can tell us,” I encourage softly.
“I was raped,” she whimpers, and drops her face in her hands as she starts crying. I look to Axe and see him gripping the table.
“Give me a name,” Axe demands.
“Reeve Danes,” she says, making my eyes bulge.
I go to school with him. He was persistent with Amelia but she turned him down. Shit, he raped a pack member. Has he raped humans too?
“Listen, he will be dead by the end of the night,” Axe tells her.
“You're going to kill him?” I ask, wide-eyed. “Wouldn't there be a trial?”
“There is no trial for a pedophile. Death is the instant penalty for a rapist. No need for proof either because I can sense she's telling the truth. Elle, whatever help you need, you will have it. If you need to talk to one of the pack doctors, I can inform the infirmary for you.”
“I don't want my parents to know,” Elle admits.
“That's okay. I'll inform Dr Cindy. She's my age. She is the nicest person who has a sixth sense when it comes to people in need. She'll take care of you. Whenever you want to make an appearance at the infirmary, that's your decision,” Axe talks to Elle in a childlike manner.
“T-Thank you, Alpha.”
“I'll have my beta escort you back to your house. I don't want you walking alone at night.” Axe opens a mind link.
“I don't want a man to escort me,” she admits weakly.
“It's okay. Dash is an amazing person. He will protect you without a second thought. I'll come with you, though.” I smile to ease her unsettled self.
“Why didn't you go to Dash when it happened?” Axe questions.
“I was scared.”
“Dash will be here in a second. I will take care of Reeve.” Axe stands up and we follow him downstairs. Dash and Brian walk through the door. “Dash, can you escort Elle home then keep Elora at your place? Brian and I have something to take care of.”
“Done.” I leave the house with Dash and Elle.
We walk in silence for a while, turning into different streets. It's night time and feels calming. But knowing what happened to this girl, I'm glad Dash is with us.
“Elora,” Elle calls.
“Yes?” I look at her.
“W-Why did it take you so long to report what happened to you?” she asks.
“The same reason as you. I was scared no one would help,” I tell her.
“Axe told me what happened. Elle, this guy hurt you and I think it's safe to say there are other girls he hurt too. If you could spread the word to the younger girls to come forward if they get hurt, it would be best,” Dash advises. We get to Elle's house and she turns to us.
“Thank you for walking me home and thank you, Elora, for giving me the strength to come forward.” Elle stares at me with appreciation.
“You're welcome.” I smile but on the inside, I'm emotional.
Dash and I wait for her to go inside her house before we walk back.
While I walk, I think of Elle. I thought I was the only one in the pack who had been targeted for abuse.
But I'm not. There are other innocents in this pack in terrible predicaments.
It's not just me. This pack really needs to change.
I can't believe the vile people that live in this community.
Dash's temper comes out. “This is fucking bullshit. I always thought I was a good leader yet pack members don't even feel like they can approach me. Hierarchy really does suck. Not only were you abused, a young girl was molested. My blood is boiling right now.”
“The good news is things are changing for the better now,” I try to calm his anger.
“I wish I could be there to see what Axe is doing to that worthless sperm right now. Some people really don't deserve life.”
“We could go,” I suggest.
“No way. I'm not letting you see what Axe is doing. You don't need to see him like that. You don't need to see something so gruesome either,” Dash says strictly.
“What is Axe doing?” I dare to ask.
“It's not going to be a quick death, I'll leave it at that.”
