Chapter 22
Ethan
The years dragged by like a snail, I looked at the crystals every day, I felt they were strong enough, but I was afraid of making mistakes, I was afraid of not succeeding and it was at that time that Chai offered me help.
His youngest son, Rhyan, was a Dragon God and the boy had complete dominion over water.
— He has powers superior to those of his brothers and I believe he can bend time, easily at least ten times. Chai smiled. — Charles told me what he was looking for and Daniel also let something slip.
—Ryan…
— My son doesn”t have feelings for you, relax, in fact, I think he”s the only one who isn”t needy and desperate for affection. — He rolled his eyes.
— I”m tired of being deluded and deceiving people, the truth is that with each passing day immortality is becoming too much of a burden, I wanted to have my children back, and if I could go back and find Nicolas alive, it would be wonderful.
Chai smiled, but looked apprehensive.
— When I returned with more powers than Umada and Hoish, I was abandoned.
—Nicolas isn”t like that, although I think it”s better not to tell him my full capabilities. — He smiled embarrassedly. — You”ve already felt this kind of love, you know I won”t be able to move on.
— I know, so I must warn you, you will need to go in pairs, if something goes wrong, you will not be alone until your powers are recharged.
— The dimensional rift I passed through was never closed, with luck it”s still there and with even more luck, we managed to kill the dramut that commands it.
Chai took a deep breath, he seemed to be exhausted, and at the same time irritated, I understand what he wanted to explain to me, but if I could get my children back, I would be satisfied. I still remember their smell, chocolate with honey. Orion and Clara.
Chai asked his son to come to my territory and Rhyan appeared with a friend, he looked me up and down, his lilac eyes indicated that he was an itsab, but his posture was that of someone much more powerful.
— I brought him in secret, Dominik is safe. — Rhyan pointed to his friend. — This is Kakaou, the first itsab, thought dead more than two thousand years ago and revived by my grandfather”s husband, don”t ask me about the details, the phoenixes are keeping the matter secret.
— Gave the main information. — I scoffed and turned to the young man. - Welcome.
— Thank you and it”s a pleasure to meet the alpha of alphas, no one ever told me that there was such a powerful being. — Kakaou bowed slightly.
— I”m not as powerful as I”d like, my pheromones are superior, but I have powers compared to those of Chai, Charles, Kog, Marri and Gabriel. — I thought it necessary to mention everyone who was on an equal footing with me. I didn”t mention Daniel, because the bastard was a little more powerful than us.
— If I”m going to partner with you, who will accompany Kakaou? — Rhyan questioned.
— Well, Kog will go, he is more experienced and if everything goes well we will return within a month. — I looked at kakaou and Rhyan. — I can go alone, but the code of the guardians says that for such an expressive time warp and for personal reasons, it needs to be assisted, if I go alone, I could get lost, but if other people go with me, they can return to the own past and rescue others.
— Janine explained the rules, the sorceress is good with words. — Kakaou smiled mischievously.
— She tried to kill you, didn”t she? I asked.
— Yes — he laughed.
— It”s how she tests newbies, she always puts them to the test. — he laughs looking at them.
That night, everyone looked for their loved ones and said goodbye, they were doing it for me and I swear it was uncomfortable, but there was no other way.
I also couldn”t sleep very well, I was overcome by a wave of adrenaline and I didn”t have the slightest desire to sleep. Soon I would be home and everything would depend on how I behaved and when I arrived at Mist Hill.
My eyes close with difficulty, the morning light already invades the room. Exhaustion overcomes me and I fall into a deep sleep. Suddenly I”m in another place, a silent forest covered in snow. The air is cold and sharp, but I don”t feel cold.
A man walks towards me. He is tall and elegant, with a long, dark coat that blends into the landscape. In his arms, two small children, bundled in warm clothes. Their faces are hidden, but I feel a deep connection with them. My heart fills with a hope I haven”t felt in a long time.
I watch the scene with a smile on my face, feeling a peace that escapes me in real life. But happiness is ephemeral. The previously clear sky turns into a sea of ??dark clouds. Within seconds, torrential rain falls on us. The man and the children disappear in the storm, and I find myself alone, shivering with cold and fear.
The ground beneath my feet gives way, and I realize I”m standing on the edge of a cliff. The wind howls in my ears, pushing me towards the abyss. Without thinking, I throw myself forward, falling towards the void.
The sensation of falling wakes me up, my heart pounding in my chest. I”m back in my room, the sunlight blinding me. The dream, so vivid and intense, leaves me with a feeling of emptiness and despair.
I enter the dining room, the morning sunlight reflecting off the stone walls. My wolves, all in human form, rise in unison, their eyes fixed on me. The weight of leadership, which I have carried for so many years, intensifies with each step I take. Today, that weight will be transferred.
“My brothers and sisters,” I begin, my voice echoing in the silent hall. — As you all know, today I am leaving on a journey. A journey from which I may not return.
A murmur of concern passes through the room, but I raise my hand, silencing them.
—Do not be afraid. Our pack of hybrids is in good hands.
My eyes meet those of Marri, my loyal right hand, who stands out among the other wolves. She looks at me with determination and confidence, ready to take on the mantle of leadership.
— Marri, my successor, will appear before you.
Marri steps forward, her gaze sweeping the room with authority.
— Wolves, it is with great honor and humility that I accept the leadership entrusted to me. I promise to lead with wisdom, strength, and compassion, just as our Alpha has always done.
A howl of approval echoes through the room, and a proud smile forms on my lips. I know Marri will guide our pack to a prosperous and secure future.
— May Dominik continue to grow under our watch, even in my absence — I say, raising my glass in a final toast.
The wolves howl in response, their eyes shining with hope and loyalty. I leave the dining room, the weight of leadership dissipating with each step. A new journey awaits me, but I know my pack is in good hands. The Pack will continue to prosper, guided by Marri”s strength and wisdom.
I leave the main hall, my heart light and my mind focused on the journey that awaits me. Kakaou, Rhyan and Kog, my faithful companions, are waiting for me outside. Their familiar faces bring me a comfort that words cannot describe.
We hugged each other in silence, the emotion of the moment overflowing in our eyes. Saying goodbye to the pack was difficult, but the prospect of exploring a new world, Earth, fills our hearts with hope and curiosity.
— Ready for the adventure? I ask, breaking the silence.
— We were born ready, Alpha — replies Kakaou, with a mocking smile.
Rhyan and Kog nod, their eyes shining with the same determination. Together, we walk towards the glass dome, the imposing structure that will transport us to Earth. The sunlight reflects on its surface, creating a spectacle of colors that fills us with admiration.
— I don”t know exactly what to expect, but I believe we”ll make it. — Kog speaks and approaches me.
The dome is invisible in the sky, hiding our presence and now Rhyan was doing the calculations for the warp in time. My hands sweated with nervousness and Kog patted me on the shoulder twice.
— Rhyan will get the date right and we will make this work.
— And if we go back to Dominik’s past, if…
— Do not fear, this fold of time is special, when we return your other self will disappear and you will wake up in his place, we will be ourselves of course, but we will keep our distance, at first you will be alone, we will accompany you in followed. — Kog narrowed his gaze. — Will you be able to remain serious?
- I don”t know. — I admitted.
— Look, when we come back to life, it”s almost the same thing, scary at first, we know you”ve been saving energy for decades and we”re willing to help you succeed. — Kakaou smiled. — Even if we have to forcibly put your husband and children in the dome, we can do it.
I wanted to be able to take care of my children, I wanted to have a life full of love with Nicolas, my Vulture, maybe that”s exactly why I”m nervous. The world I left was a world of servitude. Where I knew I would be the alphas” toy and that I would never have the right to my offspring, that nineteen-year-old Ethan died, and I don”t even remember what my birthday was. In my mind, only the date January 2020.
