Chapter 51

FIFTY-ONE

VIVIENNE

I don’t know how long it lasted—hours, maybe.

Once he started filling me, the Beast was reluctant to stop.

His knot locked us together and there was no point in even struggling.

I stayed where I was, on my hands and knees, my thighs spread wide to take him as he pumped his cum into me again and again and again.

In the end, I think I might have blacked out because I don’t remember him withdrawing from me. I do have a vague memory of looking up at the sky and realizing that the moon had moved—it was much lower on the horizon than it had been.

I also remember the feeling of his long, hot tongue cleaning my inner thighs and licking my pussy to seal it closed. My lower belly was swelled with the amount of cum he’d pumped into me. So much so that I had what the Weres of some Packs call a “breeding bump.”

But I barely noticed. I only moaned softly as he made me come once more, teasing my swollen clit with his long tongue as I lay naked in the grass under the moonlight.

Then I heard something that woke me up. A voice from the trees said,

“Damn, Harris—I thought you said he’d fuck her to death! But lookit her—she’s still alive.”

“Fuck—you’re right,” Harris answered, sounding disgusted. “We can’t let ‘em live after this—he got her pregnant for sure. She’ll have another one of those monsters growing in her belly if we don’t stop it.”

“I’ll get the trank gun,” the other Alpha replied.

“Good—you shoot the cursed wolf, and I’ll get Lady Jamison,” Harris said.

That woke me up.

I sat and tapped the Beast anxiously on the shoulder.

“Hey, big guy—we have to get out of here!”

He looked up at me, but I saw no comprehension on his big, golden eyes. Then I heard the crack of a rifle and something zinged past me, close enough that I could feel the wind of its passing.

“Fuck—missed!” I heard Harris growl.

It was then that I truly understood I was going to be running for my life.

I scrambled to my hands and knees and began crawling as fast as I could towards the tree line. I heard another shot and then the Beast roared in anger.

“Fuck—you hit ‘im!” the other Alpha cried.

“I was aiming at the widow—he got in the way,” Harris snapped. “Hurry up and trank him—he’s gonna be pissed if he figures out we’re trying to kill his mate.”

Then came the pfft! sound of the tranquilizer gun. To my horror, I saw a feathered dart protruding from the Beast’s furry hide.

“No!” I cried. “Oh, no!”

I still wasn’t quite sure how I felt about what had happened in the Moon Glade that night, but I did know that the Beast was part of Kor. I didn’t want him to die!

But if Harris had thought he could sedate my mate in Beast form as easily as he had in human form, he was wrong. The Beast roared in anger and charged for the tree line, seeking to punish his persecutors.

“Kor, wait!” I cried, but my voice was drowned out by the panicked shouts of the Alphas under the trees.

“Shoot him! Fucking shoot him!” I heard Harris screaming, his voice gone high as a girl’s with terror.

“I’m fucking trying—he’s too damn fast. Run, just r—”

The last word ended in a breathless scream and then there were terrible, wet, ripping sounds like flesh being torn off bones.

The ironic thing was, if the Alphas had come out into the moonlight and Shifted, they might have had a chance in their wolf forms. But as humans, they were no match for the eight-foot-tall Beast. He tore through them like tissue paper, spraying blood and breaking bones in a ruthless slaughter.

I tried not to look—I was glad of the shadows that hid the worst from me. I staggered to my feet and ran as well as I could—which wasn’t very well, since I was so wobbly, into the forest.
