The Wife He Married on a Bet

Amelia Fletcher finds a six-year-old bet framed on a friend's study wall: her billionaire husband, Lucas Fletcher, had wagered that he could marry the cleaner from his office building and seat her at his mother's table.

She had once worked those night shifts; five years into the marriage, she runs a scholarship program she believed she built, and she had nearly forgotten how she began.

Lucas says he fell in love months later, yet the wager still stood when he proposed, and the woman who put the bet in writing has spent this summer hearing things he never told Amelia.
