At Camp Half-Blood, the Wild Zone is a forest kept off-limits to campers and staff, yet newcomer Katie Kim is taken there anyway.

Clarisse, head counselor of the Ares cabin, leads Katie and four other new demigods into the woods at night and tells them to race back to camp by morning.

Her threat is bad enough on its own, until Katie's half-brother Grant goes missing.
