Chapter 45
CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE
AIRIK
“Just a little more,” Nora cried, returning to taking his cock into her mouth—a valiant effort since she could barely take more than the tip.
But his Nora made use of her hands, working him up and down, milking every drop of seed he had for her.
It had been two days of this: eating their dwindling food, sleeping in short bursts, and indulging in each other’s bodies and words as there would never be an end to time.
Airik groaned, collapsing into the soft grass beneath them, letting her do what she wanted with him.
Hoping the Veynari would forget he’d ever existed, leaving him here, alone in a city that hadn’t housed people for years.
Where small robots performed their tasks—cleaning streets, repairing crumbling walls, trimming hedges and grass—until their own structures corroded.
Even now, a vegetation-maintenance machine rushed past his hand, but one of its wheels was missing, forcing it to make wide circles around the flowering bush it was meant to trim.
He dragged her body on top of his, belly to belly, and with her cunt in his face. If she insisted on taking her fill, so would he. With her a giggling mess, her lips around his cock, and him enraptured by all she was and the exquisite torment she gave him.
Because of his fangs, he could not suck on her as he wanted. He would not damage her perfect skin, determined to keep it as unmarred as his was scarred.
“I want your teeth,” he heard her say. “I know you’re holding back. Don’t.”
He lifted his head and found her looking back at him, still stroking him. “I want your marks. Everywhere. So that when you’ve left me, I still have something—”
Airik sank his teeth hard into the tender flesh of her inner thigh, circling her clit with his thumb.
His heart could not take the end of that sentence.
He thrust up, feeling her strain to take him deeper into her throat, her muffled and eager sobs pushing him to the edge of another violent release.
There was a word for what they’d begun to share.
What made him lie beside her in the cool grass, naked and unarmed, beneath the twin suns.
What made him lace his fingers with hers, grasping tightly as if reality might tear split open and tear Nora away.
The word, long eradicated from the common tongue, was one Nora tried to teach him in English, though mercifully she never said it directly to him.
Perhaps it stuck in her throat as it did in his. But even so, she found other ways to let him know that it was too late—she was falling into what he feared the most.
Like now, when she gasped between swallows of his seeping seed. “You’re so good. Do you know that? I’m so lucky it was you who found me.”
How long had he been waiting to hear those exact words? That he was good, even if it was a lie, because she didn’t know all of him or what he’d done. He whimpered against her, his eyes burning with that emotion he dared not name.
That word—if he admitted it—would earn him more than deadly brands. And yet…he couldn’t find it in himself to care. His only thought was where to bite her next.
Let them punish me, he thought, licking the bite at the innermost part of her thigh. They might as well brand his body with her name.
A red circle in the shape of his teeth rose on her skin. He rolled a thumb over it, wondering how this instinct of his had been suppressed for so long.
He came hard into her mouth at the thought of no longer serving the Veynari but her. And she, so perfect for him, swallowed him down while giving him her own release.
“Come back up to me,” he said, tugging on her hair.
She didn’t respond, still licking him clean.
“Nora.”
She gave a breathy laugh as he tugged more firmly on her hair.
After giving him several more full-length licks, she sat up and turned, her lips and chin covered in his seed, dripping down to her breasts.
He gasped, torn between wanting her lips against his, sinking into her body with his quickly hardening length, or covering her soft, perfect breasts with marking bites.
“Your come is magic. You don’t know what it does…” Her worlds trailed as she tilted her head and smiled. “Are you pouting?”
“No.” He straightened his expression but didn’t think he could hide how he needed her taste again.
Planting quick kisses as she moved up his body, she left faint glowing traces of himself against his skin. She settled on his chest before kissing the corner of his mouth. “You’re not Major Asshole,” she said, giving him a sly smile. “You’re just a sweetheart who wants lots of kisses.”
He moaned in relief when she finally gave him her lips. Nora had said his come made her high, and he could understand that. Both of their tastes entwined on their tongues, filling his mouth with that intoxicating and addictive feeling.
“Sweetheart…what does that mean?”
Biting her lip, she thought. “It’s a word you use when you care about someone. A term of endearment. When you love someone.” She looked at him, her smile softening. “I’ve used that word before. You said you didn’t know it. But…I don’t believe that.”
Behind her, the suns blazed, and her hair took on golden light. The smell of iilas berries blanketed him.
Why had he lied about that? She knew him better than he knew himself.
“I know it,” he said softly, feeling lighter as he admitted it.
He kissed her hard, imagining himself sinking into her skin.
“I’ve known it once,” he said again, swallowing her gasps, needing her breath.
With you, I want to know it again.
