Hello, gals!
I bet you’re wondering why I’ve made you come full circle back to Mexico. This was my bucket list trip, the trip we never got to take. No finger-pointing, no blame! This letter will stir up a lot of feelings. Feel them but then let them go. As I said, no blame!
First though, I’m dying to know (sorry, poor choice of words)… is Playa del Carmen as amazing as I imagined? The research I did before picking this place as our next destination made me swoon. Take lots of pictures, please.
Now, why here when we’ve already done a trip to Mexico? The Mayan ruins for one, the cenotes for another, but I have a confession for reason three: I wanted to go for a Mayan healing ceremony. Holly, I know this is more woo than you can probably handle but hear me out.
I went through years of treatment as a kid.
I know that hell. And having to go through it again was overwhelming before it even began.
So when one of the nurses casually mentioned the life-changing experience she personally had, and that a number of her patients who did this also experienced marked improvements after one of these ceremonies, well, I knew it was something the three of us needed to do together.
Tomorrow you’ll meet my family for our last goodbye.
But before that, I have two excursions planned for you: first, a healing ceremony in a temazcal.
From everything I’ve read, the ceremony will help you connect with your inner peace and let go of the stress and worries you’ve locked up inside yourselves.
A shaman will guide you through the process of recalling past wounds and opening yourself to healing.
(Anna, this sounds like a perfect Luxe Vacations research opportunity; I think your clients would love this.)
Then, a swim in a cenote because they’re magical and you’ll need the time to absorb all that’s happened until now, everything I’ve unloaded on you.
I’m sorry I didn’t give you the chance to ask me questions.
I know there’s so much you must still want to know.
That may be the one regret I desperately wish I could fix.
I’m hoping that through these letters and this trip, you’ll be able to forgive me.
I know releasing my ashes has been hard on both of you, and I love you for doing this for me. I’ve asked so much from you on this trip already, but I have one more request: please show my family that they can continue living knowing that Ava and I are watching over each other and all of you.
Don’t forget me and Ava.
xo,
Z.
