Chapter 31

Chapter Thirty-One

SAS

Las Vegas wasn’t all that different from LA, especially when walking into a place we didn’t belong. My boys stretched out around me as we entered the Parisi Hotel those lips were too plump to have come from the Don.

Massimo grabbed his Scotch from the table and took a sip. He swished it around as he swirled and admired the amber liquid.

After several beats, he set the glass back down. “I’m afraid I can’t help you. Not yet.”

A growl vibrated my chest, but Wilde said, “Not yet?”

“Our first deal isn’t completed yet, so I’m not ready to enter into another with you.” Massimo reached over his shoulder, tapping Adelina’s hand.

She withdrew clasped her hands in front of her.

Massimo didn’t notice, or at least, he didn’t react. “The marriage needs to be sealed. Gold rings. Paperwork filed. Consummated.”

Adelina didn’t even bat an eyelash. She was completely neutral. I didn’t think I had seen her so unresponsive, especially not last night as I had fucked her.

“How badly do you want this shipment?” Massimo asked Wilde. “Or should I ask how quickly?”

Wilde kept his chin jutted out, saying nothing.

Massimo snapped his fingers, and a woman with a tablet walked out of a side room.

“You know,” he said, accepting the tablet, “I was just thinking I don’t like long engagements, anyway.”

He scrolled and then smiled up at me. “Oh, would you look at that? You’re in luck. I can move my weekend meeting, and we can move up your wedding.”

What. The. Fuck?

Fucking Adelina was one thing, but I thought we would have more time before we had to get married. Like before, Adelina didn’t even look like she heard us.

“Make the preparations,” ordered Massimo and sent the assistant away without another word. Then he turned to Adelina. “The Guardian Angel Cathedral will be nice, don’t you think?”

“Yes, Papà,” Adelina said, but she didn’t open her mouth much to utter the words.

“I know how much your sister has been missing you. You two, along with your Mamà, should have a splendid time putting it together.”

When he looked back at me, Adelina rolled her eyes before settling the mask back over her face.

“After that”—Massimo beamed—“I don’t see why I shouldn’t get into the jewelry business.” He admired the gold watch on his wrist.

“This weekend?” Wilde rubbed his jaw as he looked at me. “Deal.”

Jolting up from the chair, I grabbed Adelina from where she had been standing next to her father.

She was mine—he gave her up.

I towed her to the elevator. On the ride down together, I could leave her ass prints all over the gold mirrors.

“We’re not done,” said Massimo.

I still held Adelina by the elbow.

“Adelina, Rafe.” Massimo waved his hand in a come-here gesture. “We have more to discuss. Family business. You can leave, though, Simeon .”

I growled and Adelina’s wide eyes peered up at me. Her body coiled like she would jump between her father and me. But I didn’t lunge for him. Despite the fact that the motherfucker used my given name just to get under my skin, I turned myself into a statue.

Still, the challenge in his nearly black eyes taunted me. And fuck me; he was getting the rise he wanted!

Holding Adelina’s forearm, I gritted out, “I’ll be your son-in-law. That makes me family.”

Massimo laughed. “You should’ve married her before showing up if you wanted into la Famiglia.”

“Well, the consummation part’s already done, so you can cross that off your fucking list,” I muttered.

Adelina pulled away from me. “Sas!” she hissed as though she might clutch her pearls at any moment now.

I glanced down at her. “Like you were so offended last night wh?—”

“Shut up!” she screeched.

“Although. ..” Massimo rubbed a hand under his nose, like he could hide his amusement by the stupid gesture. “If you would like someone from the motorcycle club here, I’m sure Wilde wouldn’t mind staying behind. Would you, Prez?”

Adelina’s pussy belonged to me. Not him.

The diamonds were my gig. Not his.

I opened my mouth to say so, but Wilde cut in, “Of course I will be here.”

The Prez stepped over to Massimo. “You can go, Sas. I’ll meet you all downstairs.”

Rafe was still at Massimo’s side, and Adelina sauntered back over.

Graff pushed me into the elevator. “Don’t fucking do it.”

As the door closed, I reached out like I could grab her from thin air. Or maybe rip Massimo’s throat out with one swipe of my claws.
