Chapter Forty
She was moving. Why was she moving? Why did her head hurt so much? Where was she? She tried to pry her eyes open, but she couldn’t. They seemed to be glued shut, and her head hurt like a...
A lot. It hurt a lot.
She tried to move her hands, but they were bound... Why were they bound? What was happening?
She moaned, and that seemed to attract the attention of whoever was driving.
“The bitch is waking up.”
“Shall I dose her?”
“Damn right.”
She felt a prick in her arm and fought to stay conscious, but the darkness grabbed her again and pulled her under.
When she regained her senses again, she was in a room, lying down on a sofa. It was old and smelled musty. She groaned, her head hurting as if she had a beating pulse inside her brain, and her limbs felt heavy.
Drugged ... she’d been drugged... But why?
“Here, drink this. It will help your head.”
Somebody held her enough to help her drink the water. It tasted funny and she grimaced.
“It’s just paracetamol, to help you with the headache, I promise.”
This voice ... she knew it. Slightly opening her eyes, she tried to focus her vision. Colorful blurs danced before her eyes until she managed to focus them on the man who was helping her. She recognized him immediately.
“Jon?” she croaked. “What happened?”
“I had to get you out of there,” he said, shaking his head as if in denial. “It was important for the both of us to get you out of there fast.”
“What do you mean?”
“You were fucking animals,” he snarled, and for the first time, she felt afraid of him.
His eyes were furious, and spit accumulated at the corners of his lips, as if he was frothing at the mouth.
“Two of them. What would your father say?” shaking his head, clearly disappointed, he continued, “Don’t bother denying it, I saw you.
I saw them fucking you in all your holes, as if you were ...
I’m not even going that way!” he yelled, and she flinched.
“Jon ... it’s not like that...”
“I know what I saw! You were fucking them in the living room, for all to see, taking them on both ends. What should have been mine! They were hindering you, stopping you from reaching your full potential, and you were letting them. Don’t worry, because where we’re going, they won’t find you.”
She felt her eyes fill with tears. Their intimate moments were theirs, and yet, Jon had seen them, and in his mind, everything was distorting.
“Jon ... I love them,” she tried to reason with him, but it was the worst thing she could have said to him.
“No! You just think you love them! They brainwashed you!”
“They saved me from myself! You want to know where I have been these past three years? I was kidnapped and raped for over two years before they found me. They loved me, they healed me, they...”
“Shut up!” he snarled, and the sound of his slap across her face indeed silenced her. The soreness in her head seemed to intensify, the pain so intense that it made her vomit.
“Disgusting!” he muttered, repulsion clear in his plain face. There was madness in his eyes, and Freya wondered how she hasn’t seen it before. Taking deep breaths, he seemed to be trying to control himself, but still he seemed furious.
A knock at the door distracted him. As soon as he opened the door, she heard him ask in a weary voice, “What the hell do you want? I already paid... Hey, what?”
His phrase ended in a snap and upon opening her eyes, Freya understood that whoever had knocked had also killed Jon.
The man looked at her and smiled.
“Hello, Freya.”
