Two
Their Eternity
Liv
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” I said through clenched teeth.
I grabbed his hand from behind my back, twisted it until I heard his knuckles crack, and spun around to confront him.
His hand bent backward, and I had him hunched over before he could even process what had happened.
Agony swirled in the depths of his eyes.
I got off on him cowering in front of me in pain.
I heaved out each word with my breath hot against his face. “Don’t. Touch. Me.”
“Okay! Okay!” He held up his other hand in surrender, but I grabbed it and gave it hyperextension too. “Fuck! Ow! I thought you were joking!”
I heard his little limbs buckle and flashed him a crazy grin. “Does it look like I’m fucking joking?”
I pushed his index fingers back until there was a snap. Broken like a twig. Too easy. He must have a bone deficiency. Poor asshole.
“Ah!” he howled out in pain.
Only I perceived his suffering at my hands over the beat of the catchy bass which played “Temperature” by Sean Paul. Bodies ground, hair flung, and hands clapped, but not one soul noticed the violence I inflicted on him. This kind of power was way too fucking good.
I released his hands, and he backed away from me like a frightened dog with its tail between its legs.
He bumped right into a couple dancing behind him, and a man pushed at his back.
He turned around to defend himself, but he was too late.
A punch landed straight to his nose and flung his body to the ground at my feet.
He gazed up at me, eyes full of fear, and I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
He pointed at me; blood dripped from his nostrils. “She’s fucking crazy!”
“Maybe.” I shrugged with a smile up to the holy man himself. “But you’re the delusional asshole who got beat by a woman.”
He snarled, and he gave a low growl like a crazed beast. He wanted to jump me and let his ego get the best of him, but I knew he didn’t stand a chance. My phantoms had taught me well. Never again would I be defenseless. I’d go down with a fight.
“Ah-ah-ah…” I tsked at him with a wag of my finger. “Have you learned nothing from the past five minutes?”
“You’ll be sorry,” he warned with a meaningless roar.
Show off.
“Nah. You’ll be the one who is sorry in about, uh…” I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and glanced at the time. “Ten minutes? Give or take a few seconds.”
With one final squint of his eyes, he stomped off like a toddler with a temper who didn’t get his way. No reward. Only a fractured nose, two broken fingers, and his shattered pride.
I rolled my eyes and muttered, “God. Thank you for taking me off the market.”
I pushed through the crowd in the direction of the bar. I wanted another drink to take off the edge created by some asshole who only wanted to get his dick wet. Another quick fuck and a notch to add to his list of victims. Only I wouldn’t be one of them.
Sin and Saint had me. Heart, mind, body, and soul. I was theirs. They were mine. Forever.
“Can I get a whiskey ginger?” I asked the bartender.
“Make that two.” Black hair tickled my face as it whipped side to side, and bright blue eyes pierced into mine. Perfect pearly whites flashed a smile. “Please?”
“Coming right up,” he responded with a slap on the marble countertop.
I spit hair out of my mouth. “Raven! What the hell?”
She giggled at me. “What? I want one too.”
“I didn’t expect my bestie to get shit-faced after Mom invited you down,” I expressed with a frown. “Because I have something to ask you.”
“Oh, really?” she slurred and draped an arm across my shoulder. “What’s that?”
Raven Nightingale was the sweetest soul anyone could ask for, with spunk lasting a lifetime.
She lived outside the city, and we didn’t see each other as much as I’d wanted.
Distance put an unwanted wedge between our friendship, but as our lives changed, our relationship didn’t. Raven was always my number one.
Mom had insisted Raven be here for my big day.
My parents were still livid about the life I had chosen, and my upcoming nuptials didn’t help.
Their only child was soon to be a bride to not only one unhinged man but two, and I’d share a life caught up in a criminal universe for the rest of my life.
This was how my parents saw our love story unfold in their eyes.
Through mine?
I saw nothing but light inside the darkness, tender affection, and the purest form of love I had ever known.
Life with Sin and Saint was effortless. Of course, living with them came with sacrifice, but I wouldn’t be living if it didn’t.
My world would be dull, plain, and boring without them, but my parents didn’t care.
We had to use the only exception to soften the blow of the news of our engagement.
Money.
Sin and Saint were billionaires. My future husbands would save my family from ruin. They’d provide a safety net for my parents to live wealthily for the rest of their days, and I’d be safe while an even bigger problem walked the streets.
Phoenix Pitrone. Still dead set on exacting revenge with a slit of my throat and my blood painting the pavement.
He was hell-bent on killing the men of my dreams in the name of his cruel, disgusting deceased brother.
He was diabolical and the enemy who had vanished into thin air, but he was out there waiting for the right time to strike.
“Yoo-hoo…” Raven waved a drink in front of my face. “Earth to Liv.”
The alcoholic beverage spilled over the side of the glass and onto the floor. I took the glass out of Raven’s hand and chugged the rest of the drink back. She peered at me with wide eyes and blinked several times.
I wiped the back of my hand across my mouth. “Thanks. I needed another.”
“I’m still waiting to find out what you wanted to ask me before your mind wandered off somewhere else.” Raven crossed her arms in front of her chest and tapped the pointed toe of her heel on the floor. “You better not keep me waiting, or I’ll haul ass back home.”
“Raven. Look…” I took her hands in mine and stared into her eyes.
“I’m sorry. I’ve been through a lot this year, and sometimes I forget I’m not alone anymore.
Things are different now. Sin and Saint made me into a person I never thought I could be, but the real me was there all along, waiting for them to find me, to make me complete.
I want you right by my side when I marry them. Would you be my maid of honor?”
“Would I?” Raven asked me.
The corners of her mouth lifted, and she opened her mouth wide. Raven snapped her eyes shut, and she shrieked the loudest scream of excitement I had ever heard. She jumped up and down, and I bounced right along with her.
“I’ll take this as a yes!” I laughed as my best friend in the entire world squeezed me tight, and we partied the rest of the night away without a care in the world.
