Chapter thirty-six

I ’m the last to leave the conference room. My heels echo down the hallway, sharp punctuation.

Whatever game Grayson thinks he’s playing, I’m done being a piece on his board. This was a complete waste of time, another meeting that could’ve been an email.

He wasn’t even there. Just the echo of his control. His petty little power move.

Because what, he felt left out? Sabotaged our night? And Brooks let him.

Fuck them both.

Time to stop reacting and start reclaiming. This is my time now. Let’s see if they can keep up.

I head to my office and pull up the management directory. Find Grayson’s cell. Type:

"I never took you for petty. You should've just joined us."

Send.

Power off.

I might want them. But I won’t be toyed with.
