Chapter 32
Cole, Two Months Later
All our friends and family are at our house again tonight.
Since everyone wants to come over to see Elizabeth all the time, we decided that every other Saturday would be game night.
Everyone comes over, and we have dinner and play games.
We just finished playing cards, and now a bunch of us are digging in to the additional snacks we had set out in the kitchen.
“So have you two come up with a wedding date yet?” Bri asks.
Ellie looks at me and smiles. Just last week we finally decided on a date. Once we had the date, we contacted the one place we both knew we wanted to get married and paid to book it.
“Yeah, we have a date and a location,” she says, smiling.
“Well, when is it?” Mom asks.
“It’s going to be in six months.”
“Yay!” all the women say in unison.
“When are we going dress shopping?” Bri asks, excited.
“Well, that’s my cue to leave the room,” Brad says as he walks back to the living room where he, Tanner, Sarah, Renee, and Greg are all watching TV.
“Yep,” Jordan says and follows Brad.
“Boys,” Bri says and rolls her eyes. Then she looks back to Ellie. “So, dress?”
“I think I already found the one.” She glances at me.
“Without me?” Bri asks, faking being offended.
“I haven’t seen it in person, only online.”
“Well, let us see it, honey!” Dianne says.
Ellie glances at me again. “All right, I get it. I’ll leave.” I laugh and walk to the living room.
Ellie
After Cole and I set our date and booked our venue, I started looking around for dresses online. They say you shouldn’t go with the first dress you see, but the first dress that popped up online had my name all over it. It was my wedding dress and I know it, without even trying it on.
I pull out my phone, find the picture of the dress, and show them.
“That is so pretty!” Bri says.
“So beautiful. When do you want to go try it on?” Mom asks.
“I guess whenever everyone is free to come with me. We should get started on more of the arrangements for the wedding. Wedding day will be here before we know it,” I say.
We discuss when we could all go, and everyone is free to go next weekend. I go on the website and book our appointment.
“Is there anything you want help with?” Bri asks.
“Yeah, there is a lot. We don’t want a big wedding, but we do want everyone important to us both there. Six months isn’t a whole lot of time to plan a wedding, so we need to work fast.”
“Well, I can help with whatever you need.”
“Me too,” Mom and Claire both say.
“We should make a list of what all needs done, and we can divide it up,” Bri says.
Cole comes walking back in, and he’s holding Elizabeth. “Am I safe to come back?”
“Yes,” I laugh.
“I think she’s getting hungry.” He hands Elizabeth to me, and I start feeding her. “What are you ladies up to now?” he asks.
“We are making a list of what will need done for the wedding, and they are going to help get everything done, so we are dividing up tasks.”
“Well, make sure you leave stuff for me to do.”
“Cole,” Bri says, writing out his name. “Wait at altar,” she writes under his name. “There, your list is ready,” she says, and everyone laughs.
“I’m serious. I want to help with everything.”
“I know you do. I will let you know what we need your help with,” I say to him, and he kisses me on the cheek.
A couple of hours later, not only do we have our list done and tasks divided, but we even have a few of the tasks done. Since it is getting late, everyone leaves after a long session of goodbyes.
Cole and I are now sitting on the couch, and I’m feeding Elizabeth again.
Once she is done, he takes her from me and starts talking to her, and I watch as he interacts with her.
He is so good with her. She may only be a few months old now, but I can see how much she loves him, and it warms my heart.
I’m still watching them when he looks up at me and smiles.
I cannot believe I get to marry this amazing man.
