Throttle Therapy (Savage Warriors MC #2)

Chapter One

He glanced around the gym, taking in where everyone was, if there was anyone new since he’d started the set, and if anyone looked like they needed assistance.

Being able to work out while he was working was a huge plus to running Savage Iron for the Savage Warriors MC. But he had to keep in mind that he was working. He had to pay attention to the people who came in, though they were mostly regulars and knew to get his attention if they needed anything.

He stood, cleaned then bench the went to the front desk where he kept his water bottle.

“Hey, Phantom, can you keep an eye on the place for a few?” he asked one of his brothers, who was on the treadmill, running.

“Sure. How long you gonna be gone?”

“Not leaving, just hopping in the shower. I shouldn’t be more than ten minutes or so.”

“No problem. I got this.”

Roadkill took off for the locker room to get rid of this sweat before he started smelling like his high school gym bag. That thing had reeked. Back then he hadn’t known what to do to stop it.

Now though, he’d mostly figured it out and he knew that one critical step was to shower asap, especially since he represented the business and needed to be presentable. Thankfully, because this was a club owned business, he had the freedom to take care of things as he saw fit.

He stripped down, turned on the water, and stepped beneath the spray before it had a chance to warm up. He didn’t have time to waste overthinking shit. It was pushing four and he knew the evening crowd would be here soon.

Crowd was a bit of an exaggeration. There were maybe half a dozen men and a couple of women who routinely came in at least three days a week after they got off work. A couple of them had no clue what they were doing so he needed to be available to help.

Then there was Shane. That little fucker came in nearly every day. Roadkill didn’t know why, because the man obviously wasn’t into getting fit.

He came in, pretended to lift for a while, but mostly carried around a 10lb hand weight and harassed any woman around. Or he had until Roadkill caught on. Now he tried and Roadkill did his best to step in and put a stop to it.

By the time Roadkill finished in the shower and made it back to the front, he knew people would start showing up soon.

He made a quick circuit of the space, making sure things were clean, in place and ready to be used, then he went back to the desk where he could keep an eye on things.

Skid had barely moved, still slouching in one corner, pretending to sleep.

Roadkill shook his head and wondered how Skid could sit still for so long, and how he managed to stay alert without something to keep his mind occupied.

Maybe it had to do with the training he’d received while he’d been in the Rangers, the man had been a sniper after all, and staying still for hours, sometimes days, was something they did.

The ding of the electronic bell attached to the door brought Roadkill back to the present. He looked up to see a face he didn’t recognize approaching the desk.

The woman coming toward him was gorgeous. Her round cheeks and clear blue eyes seemed to call to him.

“How can I help you today?” he asked.

She sighed and met his gaze. “Do you have someone who can teach me how to do this?”

“Do what?”

“Workout. Lift. All of it.” She motioned to the equipment in the large room behind him. “All of this confuses me, but I’ve got to do something.” Her gaze dropped to the desk between them.

“I can show you how to use all of it, if you’d like.” He wanted to tell her she didn’t need it, that she looked amazing, but if she believed him, she would turn and walk out, and he might never see her again.

She looked him up and down as if judging whether he knew what he was talking about, or maybe not. The way she bit her lip and tugged at her clothes, told him she wasn’t comfortable.

“How about a tour. If you like, I can give you an idea of what each machine does, and you can decide if we’re the place for you.” Roadkill kept an eye on her face while he did his best to put her at ease.

Most of the time he didn’t give a shit about making others feel welcome, but something about this woman called to him, and he hadn’t even gotten her name. At least not yet.
