Chapter Twenty-Eight
Jenna knew she should be doing something.
Her sister was missing. The police had come and questioned her, as well as Roadkill, and left again.
Roadkill had refused to let her back into the house before the police arrived and when they had, they’d declared it a crime scene and told her no one was allowed in.
Roadkill had carried her back to the driver’s seat of the truck, and taken her back to the clubhouse. Now she sat on one of the sofas in the common room and stared at the wall.
She never should have left Lacey alone. She should never have agreed to a date. They wouldn’t have been able to take her sister if she’d been there.
The self-recriminations ran through her mind on repeat. She needed to find her sister, but where did she start? She’d told the police everything she knew, and they’d told her to sit tight, they would take care of everything but would they really?
Voices echoed around her, but she paid them no attention. They weren’t Lacey and that was all that mattered.
The note she’d found flashed through her mind.
Consider her dead. She would be next.
Did she want to live knowing she’d failed her sister? That Lacey was likely suffering, what exactly Jenna didn’t even want to think about, because of Jenna’s actions.
