Chapter 33 - Andie
Chapter Thirty-Three - Andie
I throw myself face down on the couch the second I get home. I’m not sure I have the energy to move from this spot until tomorrow.
“Hey, you’re back.” Turning my head, I see Maddie’s smiling face morph into an oh no look as she comes out of the bedroom, witnessing my limp body on the couch. “Oh, rough day?”
I close my eyes, but I draw enough energy to nod my head.
“Gotcha. Well, why don’t you take a shower and get changed?
It’s movie night tonight.” I always love Sunday movie nights, our fast-developing weekly ritual that provides enjoyment from the comfort of our own couch.
There’s something about being able to curl up with your best friend and eat junk food in your pj’s, that really makes a night enjoyable and stress-free.
I get ready as fast as my brain and body will allow, pulling out my most comfortable pajamas—a ivory set with Friends quotes and images printed all over them.
“Andie, hurry up! I need help deciding which movie to pick. Should I go with Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, or Chris Pratt?”
Maddie loves themed nights, and it looks like she’s chosen a night with Chris. You have movies filled with good-looking guys—some funny, some romantic, and some action packed—but all have eye candy to enjoy with your best friend.
“I don’t care. Pick whichever Chris you want to start with.
” A knock at the door has me pulled from her current debate.
“Maddie, did you invite Dylan to our night?” I walk toward the noise, fully expecting Dylan to be standing there, but I’m completely wrong.
Pulling open the door I find Spencer there, holding a bag giving me the inkling this wasn’t a spur of the moment visit.
His half smirk as he looks me up and down has my heart doing backflips.
“Nope, I invited Spencer.” Maddie hollers from the couch. Glaring over my shoulder at her, I see her grin as she waves enthusiastically. “You can thank me later. Hi, Spence!”
This girl has no boundaries, but I love her anyway. When he said he would see me tonight I thought he would facetime me or something, not join us for movie night.
“Come in,” I say, stepping aside to let him move out of the hallway entering the room. He gives me a quick kiss on the cheek, leaving them stained with the rosy-pink tint I get from his touch. “Fair warning—we are in the middle of making a life-or-death movie pick.”
Spencer grins as he takes off his jacket, draping it across a nearby chair. “Sounds dangerous.”
“It is, very dangerous, come on, maybe you can help us decide.” I tease, taking his hand and leading him to the couch. Maddie struggling to pick a movie is humorous, to say the least. It’s like a Battle of the Chrises is going on.
“I can’t decide! Too many hot guys to pick only one!”
Spencer’s trying hard not to laugh at Maddie’s panic. Her idea of a life and death decision is much different than his, judging by the look on his face.
The fact that this is the hardest choice she has to make today has me laughing at her too. Spencer gives me a questioning look trying to figure out her meaning. “She’s trying to decide between the three Chrises for a movie—Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, or Chris Hemsworth.”
Realization hits, and Spencer decides to chime in. “Why don’t you pick one of the Avengers movies? Then you can see all of them.”
“I love the way you think, Mr. Spencer. Oh, and snacks! Damn, Andie, I like him,” Maddie declares, snatching the bag he placed on the table to scour through it.
“I think you just won her heart,” I tell him.
“Have I won yours?” he asks softly.
My response remains caught in my throat because the truth is, he captured my heart long ago.
He doesn’t make me answer, instead he just lets me curl into his arms and be with him for the evening.
If he knew how much he already owns my heart, he’d be looking to return it once he realizes that it’s too damaged, too complicated, and needs to be handled with extreme care.
It isn’t long into our movie night my eyelids become too heavy, and I drift into dreams. The familiar face of a man who has become something I never realized I needed till now flashes in my mind.
This face doesn’t haunt me. It’s the one with starry eyes and the brilliant smile that makes me feel all gooey inside.
It’s Spencer, and he softly outlines my figure with his strong hands causing a spark between us.
My heart rate quickens as his fingers slide down my curves until they reach between my legs.
He draws tiny circles as he presses right on my clit, the movement causing me to become soaked with need.
My back arches up to increase the sensation, hopefully encouraging his fingers to slide inside.
At the same time, my neck wants to roll to the side so he can plant kisses on it, adding a small bite to increase my pleasure.
Just as I’m about to reach my peak, a loud noise rips me from my dream. Spencer nowhere in sight.
Great. Now he’s consuming my mind during the day, devouring my body at night, and controlling my dreams in between.
While it’s not what I had in mind when trying to regain a normal life after Cody, I find each day I’m welcoming it more. Turns out the noise was from Maddie and her friends in the other room eating breakfast.
“Maddie, did Spencer leave?”
“He just went to go grab coffee,” she says with her mouth full of food.
The smell from the kitchen is heavenly—crispy bacon permeates the room. As I walk in I notice all the pastries and fruit scattering the granite tops. Dylan sits across from Maddie who is standing behind the counter, while Matt and Anna occupy the other chairs filling the space.
“Hey, Andie, come sit and join us.” Anna pulls out a chair while Maddie, grabbing a plate, loads it up with various items from the feast before me.
“So, Andie, we were just talking. We’re curious. What exactly is the deal with you and this Spencer guy?” Anna’s bright colored eyes swim with excitement as she asks the question. My eyes widen when I realize my love life is the topic of the morning. “Maddie, you’ve told them?”
“Well . . . sorry girl, they were curious why he was here this morning. I didn’t think it was a secret anymore.”
Note to self: Maddie is about as good at keeping secrets as a three-year-old with a microphone.
I’m not one who likes to have my personal life flaunted, and Maddie sometimes forgets that. She used to hold my secrets in a vault, but apparently that’s changed over the years. “He’s just a guy I’m seeing. It’s not a big deal.”
I’m leaving it at that, no more details for this crew. Maddie promptly jumps in with her counterargument. “No big deal? The guy bought you an expensive gown, took you on a cruise with fireworks, and don’t think I can’t hear you moan his name when you sleep.” she says, motioning towards my bedroom.
“He’s got world record-breaking skills in the sheets. I mean he has to, by the way this girl screamed his name the other night, it makes me a bit jealous.” Heat floods my cheeks as I stare at Maddie with wide eyes.
Was she actually home, and I didn’t realize it? She never came out of her room? Oh my god, she could hear us.
“Oh my god, Maddie.” I groan, burying my face in my hands while Anna and Maddie chuckle around me. There’s no hiding that his ability to pleasure a woman is out of this world, but I also don’t want to kiss and tell.
“Okay, surely there is something else we can talk about. Like, anything else?” Dylan asks, cringing at Maddie’s last comment.
“Yes please.” I say begging them to let it go. I’m relieved when the door opens, and the rich aroma of fresh coffee hits my nose.
Spencer steps in with a carrier holding multiple cups, his eyes immediately finding my reddened face from across the room. That familiar warmth spreads through me just from his gaze.
“Oh my god, my savior!” Maddie practically launches herself at him, grabbing one of the coffee cups as she plants a peck on his cheek.
“Come on, you need to finish meeting everyone.” Maddie takes a long sip from her cup, before setting it down to grab his arm, dragging him the rest of the way into the kitchen.
“Spencer, this is Anna, Matt, and you already know Dylan,” she says, gesturing to each of them. Anna smiles politely and takes his hand, while Matt gives a friendly nod.
“Good to see you again, man,” Dylan says. I love how Spencer seems to fit right in with Maddie and Dylan. Her acceptance is important to me and seeing that she loves Spencer as much as I do gives me hope.
“You are not kidding, Maddie. Now that I see him not in passing, he is gorgeous,” Anna tells her, not even trying to be subtle. It’s a good thing Dylan is secure with Maddie, because a normal man wouldn’t take kindly to her harmless flirting.
A little possessiveness flares through my chest, which surprises me.
Looking at Spencer now—freshly showered and clearly having gone home to change into clean jeans and a fitted navy shirt that shows off his muscles—I realize Anna’s absolutely right.
Meanwhile, I’m standing here in my Friends pajamas and bedhead, probably looking like I just crawled out of a cave.
“I’m so sorry,” I say, running a self-conscious hand through my messy hair as he makes his way towards me, but he kisses my temple to show me he doesn’t mind.
I rush into my room to change, accepting the risk of leaving him with a bunch of gossip-thirsty friends who want to learn everything they can about him. Which is a bold move.
I come back into the room just in time to find Anna asking Spencer about our relationship. “So, how serious is it with you and Ms. Andie here?”
“You definitely don’t have to answer that. This interrogation is officially over. Time to move on.”
