Chapter 61
RILEY.
“They found her.” Beta Dominic’s words kept ringing in my head.
The last five weeks were a living hell. I didn’t know how I managed to survive and function both as an Alpha and a human, but somehow I did.
I’d been doing things I wasn’t used to. I was asking for help.
I was lowering my pride, and it humbled me that many packs were responding well to my cry for help.
And I was willing to do more just to have her back.
I glanced at my cellphone, at the photo that had been sent to me earlier. The photo was of Nadia.
I swallowed as the pang of guilt crossed my heart. I would take her back, and I would do everything in my power to make up for the shit I’ve done.
I was hoping I wasn’t too late yet.
I put on fresh clothes and hurried out the door. The drive would take us a whole day, and so we booked a three-hour flight instead.
I dialed my cellphone to call Lady Katarina as I descended the stairs.
I had made a reconciliation with her. I paid her a visit a few days after she berated me with her words.
I admitted my mistakes and asked for her assistance in finding Nadia.
She was still furious with me, but she did accept my apologies, and, together with her brother, we’d been tracking every possible location where Nadia might have been.
“Hello, Alpha Riley…” She answered the call after just two rings.
“Lady Katarina,” I greeted her.
“Do you have news?” She asked almost immediately.
“My men found her in Atlanta. I’m heading there.”
“Can you pick me up? I’m coming with you.”
“No. I don’t think that’s possible. I just called you to inform you and to ask a favor.”
“Hmmm…”
“If Nadia doesn’t want to come home with me, I would rather she stay with you. I will pay for her upkeep and all of her expenses.”
“Yes, of course, she can stay here, and no, you don’t need to pay anything for her to stay here.”
“She’s my mate. I want to do that. But she doesn’t have to know. I’m just making sure I have other options I can present to her.”
“Then make sure she comes back with you. Or if not, call me and I will travel there and take her home with me.”
“I’ll do my best.” I knew I was trying to affirm myself more than her.
“Alpha, is she okay?”
“I don’t know. I have to find it out myself.”
