Chapter 16

Yosiah

“My life is in your hands, hubby! I hope you know how to drive this thing!” Xylina called out, causing one corner of my mouth to lift.

“Just make sure you hold on tight and I’ll handle the rest!” I called out, taking off, causing her to yelp. Her grip tightened around me as we raced across the water on the jet ski.

Last night after I got her off, I expected her to want to take things further, but when she shut me down, I was caught off guard.

Xylina had never been one to turn down sex.

She did slide down and take me in her mouth, getting me off, but even after that, she turned down me entering her.

I didn’t push the issue, figuring maybe she was on her cycle or something.

This morning when we got up, she acted normal, handing me her phone and telling me to pick things off the things to do and attractions menu on Ryokan’s site.

It was day two of my birthday trip, and with my birthday being tomorrow, Xylina wanted to do everything I wanted to do.

I had never seen her be so selfless before.

Lately it had been feeling like I was married to a completely new person.

The qualities I didn’t care for were still there, but they were more bearable now.

Each time she let her guard down and opened up, I learned something about her I wouldn’t expect.

“Ready for some hops?” I called out, speeding toward where they had water slopes set up.

“Yosiah!” she screeched as the jet ski went into the air, causing me to laugh.

It felt good being on the open water with the sun high and beaming down on us. A lot of the time I felt older than thirty-five. My parents always told me I was mature for my age when I was younger but doing things like this made me feel young.

I wasn’t sure how long we were on the water, but by the time we pulled back up to the jet ski rental dock, I was starving.

“I forgot how fun jet skiing was!” Xylina gushed as she removed her life jacket.

“Same here. I haven’t been on one in years.” We approached the counter to return the life jackets.

“We should buy some to take out on the marina or go down to the shore.” I noticed but didn’t comment on how she kept making comments about our future together.

Normally I would shut her down, but we were having such a good time that I didn’t see the point in ruining the mood.

Not to mention, I was slowly starting to enjoy my time around her.

Xylina walked a couple steps ahead of me.

My tongue swiped across my lips as my eyes slid down her back.

The light blue, two-piece bathing suit she wore left nothing to the imagination.

The front showed off her cleavage, crossed in a X, and tied around her neck while hugging her breasts nicely.

She wore a thin gold chain around her waist. Her bottoms, a thong that hugged her hips, displaying the full roundness of her ass.

I knew she did yoga and worked out, but I never noticed just how much it helped shape her ass and legs into what I looked at right now.

The sun reflecting against her skin caused it to shimmer due to whatever oil she’d put on before we left our room.

She put her hair into two French braids, resting right under the cuff of her breasts.

Stepping behind her while we waited in the short line, I wrapped an arm around her and bent so my mouth was level with her ear.

“You know what I realized? You never wear your natural hair.” My thumb brushed over her flat stomach and the metal hanging from her belly button. Her body melted back against me.

“This is my natural hair, I just have extensions in too.” Her breathing hitched slightly when I slid my finger under the waistline of her thong bottoms and stroked her flesh slowly. Her skin still damp from the water.

“Mhm.” I pressed my lips against her ear. Learning how much my touch affected Xylina made me want to touch her more than I would have before. Her body was so responsive and desperate for it. Call it a stroke to my ego, but I welcomed that reaction more and more.

“I’m glad we came out early. It’s more crowded than when we first got on the water,” Xylina said.

Lifting my eyes, I roamed the area we were in. It was the season opening for the water and Lake Cashmere’s warm weather activities. There were people canoeing, water and jet skiing, fishing, and tubing. The lines were longer and the area was more crowded.

When we finally got to the desk, I stepped next to Xylina and we handed over our jackets.

I didn’t miss how the guy behind the counter licked his lips and eyed my wife.

I wasn’t blind. I knew my wife was fine and this wasn’t even the first time she’d gotten attention while we were out.

It was, however, the first time I felt a wave of possession wash over me.

Xylina loved attention. She dressed provocatively frequently and her presence was always loud whenever she stepped into a room.

I had never been a jealous person. Even with Sierra, I never was bothered when others attempted to get her attention.

Even now, what I was feeling wasn’t jealousy, it made me feel good that others saw how fine my wife was but couldn’t have her.

Yet, the blunt disrespect for me standing here while he grinned and ogled her caused discomfort in my chest.

Wrapping my arm around her waist again, I pulled her back into me, causing what she was saying to be cut off. She looked over her shoulder and stared up at me with wide eyes.

“You ready to get our stuff and grab something to eat?”

She blinked a few times before her mouth shifted into a grin. “Yeah, I can eat something light though.”

“Then we’re going four-wheeling, right?”

The side eye she tossed my way this time caused me to laugh. When I revealed four-wheeling was one thing I wanted to do, she hadn’t been sold on the idea.

Dipping my head, I pecked her forehead before releasing her and grabbing her hand. I glanced toward the counter again and the guy behind it was now avoiding my eye.

“C’mon.” I tugged on her hand, leading us in the direction of the lockers so we could grab our things. There were a few stalls near us that sold food along with a couple restaurants.

“Wait!” Xylina called out after we got our stuff from our locker.

“What’s wrong?”

A shifty smile formed on her face and she pulled me toward the full body mirror not too far from us.

“Smile.” She grabbed my arm, wrapping it around herself and resting her hand on top of mine. She had her net wrap around her waist but kept her tank top off and I was only in my swimming trunks.

Xylina snapped a couple pictures, changing her face in each one.

“Ugh, why are guys always so boring when it comes to taking pictures?” Her eyes were on her phone as she swiped.

“Mhm, this is a good one, it’s getting posted.

” Flipping her phone, she showed me the screen.

The picture caught me off guard. While Xylina was grinning in the mirror with one of her arms lifted and wrapped around my neck, I was staring down at her with the corner of my lip tucked into my mouth. We looked like a real, happy couple.

I thought about when Reginae had shown me Xylina’s InstaFlik page and how much she posted me but never had one of the two of us together like this outside of our wedding.

“Send me that,” I told her, pulling my own phone from my drawstring bag.

At first she looked shocked by my request before smiling and nodding. It was time for me to face reality and admit to myself that I was starting to have authentic feelings for my wife.

“See, now aren’t you happy you listened to me and changed into the tan button up?” Xylina grinned from across the square table, bringing her glass of wine to her mouth and beaming at me over the rim.

Chuckling, I brought the last of my steak to my mouth, finishing it before answering. “It didn’t matter to me either way. It’s just the two of us.”

Xylina wore a white dress that tied around the neck, hugging her breasts, with her back out and white heels. I planned on wearing jeans and a regular T-shirt, but she’d shut me down instantly, insisting I wear black jeans with a tan, quarter sleeve button up, and white loafers.

“But we’re celebrating! I couldn’t look this good and allow you to look so basic.” Her nose balled up. “Plus, you should bring in your birthday in style.”

There were a couple hours until my birthday.

Today was spent mostly outside of our room.

After jet skiing and getting something light to eat, I was able to convince Xylina to go four-wheeling.

Following that, we checked out some of the local shops and walked one of the trails closer to Lake Cashmere.

Being outside this much wasn’t Xylina’s thing and it was obvious she was pushing herself out of her comfort zone, but besides a little pushback, she went along with everything I wanted to do.

Part of me chose to continue the outdoor things just to see how far I could push her.

I expected her to complain more or completely disagree, but surprisingly she didn’t.

Since she complied, I went along with all the picture taking she wanted.
