Chapter 16 #2

Breathless moans of surrender and the sound of our hearts beating wildly bounced off the walls, as dizzying waves of pleasure surrounded us with ecstasy.

“Oh. My. God. That was—” Words failed me.

“Perfection.” He breathed against my flushed skin.

“Yes, that.” My heart raced high on happiness and contentment.

Jaxon collapsed beside me on the bed. Every muscle, including ones I wasn’t aware of, ached as I rolled onto my side and pressed myself against the length of his body.

His tanned skin glistened under a sheen of sweat as I lazily drifted my fingertips across the inked lilies and fell into a comfortable silence.

I’d long dreamed of what our first time together would have been like, but nothing could have ever prepared me for the real thing.

It was years of pent-up yearning and desire that couldn’t be bottled or tamed, colliding in a way that was explosive. I loved that it was a mix of hard, unrestrained need followed by slow and sensual.

It was a perfect blend of us.

Connecting us on an intimate level that celebrated our love and strengthened our devotion. It felt as if the stars had guided us home.

“Do you happen to know your work schedule for next weekend?” Jaxon asked after a few minutes of reflective silence.

“I think I’m off. Why? You already mentally making plans to have your way with me again?”

Jaxon rolled onto his side, facing me, and brushed away an errant piece of hair from my forehead.

“What’s funny is that you think I could wait that long?” He leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to my lips. “I’ll never get enough. I plan to devour you every waking moment we aren’t working.”

“Oh, really? That’s a big statement, Fisher.”

“You doubting me?”

“Who me? Never. It’s just I kind of like seeing . . .” I paused to mess with him, “other people.”

As expected, my back met the bed as he pounced and pressed his weight deliciously against my core.

“There will be no other people, Lily.” He pinned me with a stern glare.

“I meant the crew, your brothers, Boden, and the girls.”

“Fuck ’em.”

“You don’t mean that.”

“Of course I don’t.” He nuzzled his mouth against my neck. “I just want you all to myself.”

“You can still have that, trust me.” I scored my nails up and down his back.

“Come to Vegas with me next weekend.”

“What?” I all but shouted in shock. “Vegas? Jaxon—”

He reared back. “No, no, beautiful, not to get married, although—” I swatted his shoulder.

“I’m joking. I’m joking,” he teased in jest. “Without you by my side, I never planned to marry, but things have obviously changed, and should you one day make me the luckiest guy on the planet by accepting my proposal, I want what my brother has, and what Boden is planning. A special day where our love isn’t just celebrated between us, but a day surrounded by those we love and who love and support us in return.

And, I’m not going to lie, the thought of you walking down the aisle in a white dress—”

“Okay, easy there, handsome. All in due time, let’s just enjoy being us for right now.”

“I like that plan,” he said, stealing a kiss before shifting his weight to sit on the bed, positioning one leg bent in front of him while the other hung off the side. “So, Vegas is on the table for next weekend because it’s going to be Boden and Lakelyn’s bachelor slash bachelorette parties.”

“Oh, that sounds like so much fun.”

“Or trouble.” He smirked.

“When in Vegas.” I wiggled my eyebrows.

“Oh, that reminds me.” He jumped suddenly to his feet. “I’ll be right back.”

“Ah—” I sat up, suddenly confused.

“Stay right here. I promise I’ll only be a minute.” I watched as he strode his gloriously naked body out of the room, going to do God-knows-what.

Being a curious person by nature, my first instinct was to follow him.

I mean, the man was naked and tempting as hell, but I resigned myself to being patient.

Instead, I chose to slip out of bed to use the bathroom quickly before sinking back beneath the warmth of the covers just in time to hear the sound of his footfalls returning.

“What is this about?” I asked, sitting up, clutching the bedsheet over my bare chest as he walked into the room carrying a mini cake on a plate in one hand and two forks in the other.

“This is a celebratory cake.”

“If I’d only known you’d serve me cake after our first time, I’d—”

“This isn’t a celebratory sex cake, Lils.” He climbed onto the bed beside me with a laugh accompanying his smile. “I made us a cake back then to celebrate graduating.”

“You baked us a cake?” My hand fluttered over my chest in surprise, smiling at how incredibly sweet he was.

“Yes, although this one admittedly looks a hundred times better than the cake I made and iced. This time, I left it to the professionals and had Cindy at Beans and Beyond make it.

The cake was a simple ivory, six-inch round, with three rows of piped buttercream rosettes decorating the side and top.

“You are simply the sweetest man, Jaxon Fisher.”

“Just what every guy longs to hear.” He playfully rolled his eyes.

I pushed to my knees and straddled his strong thighs.

“I’m sorry, I should have said, you’re the most thoughtful, sexiest man I’ve ever seen with an impressive eight-pack I could do laundry on but would much rather lick.

A man who has always been so patient and giving of himself, you aren’t just ridiculously handsome, your heart is unapologetically true to who you are.

It’s just one of the many reasons I’ve always loved you.

” I did a little wiggle for added emphasis. “Better?”

“Much.” He offered me a fork.

We both jabbed our utensils into the untouched cake.

“Here’s to us,” he said first.

“Here’s to us,” I echoed.

We knocked forks and fed each other our pieces of vanilla cake and buttercream icing.

While my aim was perfect, his was most definitely not. Half landed on my tongue, the other smeared at the corner of my mouth and fell down my chest.

“Um.” I looked between us, where little dollops of frosting dotted my chest, to where the remaining piece of cake landed.

Right at the base of where my core was nestled against his thick, hardened erection.

My eyes met his for a flash. The knowledge he’d done this on purpose was all the foreplay I needed.

Our hands collided in a flurry of motion, but I beat him to the punch by a fraction of a second, grasping the cake crumble with my fingers.

Jaxon opted for plan B, my wrist, as we engaged in a battle for the bite amidst a fit of giggles before I landed flush on my back.

“Mine,” was all he said when I parted my lips and swallowed the bite of cake before his mouth collided with mine in a rushed burst of electricity that I felt down to my toes.

To say the bedsheets weren’t fit to sleep in was an understatement, but then again, no sleeping occurred that night, and a nap out on the large porch swing was definitely in the foreseeable future.
