Chapter 17

Ipick up the phone we’re using this month that’s loaded with the uncrackable app—uncrackable providing law enforcement doesn’t get the new hacking protocol. We’re stretching every tentacle of power we own to stop this happening.

I turn it on. Then double-check the time. He won’t answer unless it’s the time we arranged.

The answer is prompt. “Yes?”

“It’s done,” I tell him. “They’re primed and have been given the evidence from the boat. They’re off to a kink party. We should think about using that.”

“Doing something there? No. We should go slow. Hook them. See what they do. They might just flop about like landed fish and get nowhere.”

“True, but I will be watching. If this Georgia digs up anything from her memory that leads back to us, we have to kill her. Those idiots who messed up the first try at offing her…” I sniff and try not to show my anger.

“Agreed. Only, use people who don’t fuck up if we have to end them. Please. And if we do, can you give me what I want?”

“In what way?” I know what he’s going to say. He’s damn predictable. I like that. It makes him easy to handle.

“In the way that’s what I always want, of course. Set it up so we can film her and her two partners fucking about getting kinky, and when we kill them we do it with style.”

I chuckle. “You are my kind. And so it shall come to pass. With cherries on top. I have an itch to stage a demon summoning on the video if so. It would go down super well with the clients.”

“Pentagrams and candles and skulls? And earn us a few extra million, especially if we make it gory.”

“Yep. Gory and take a few hours so we get all the juicy screams.” I glance at the time. “Gotta go. Roger and out.”

I press END, then extract the sim card and crush it.

They are such fools playing about like this. We will crush them like I did the sim card and make money from their final curtain call. The pathos of it all. So sad, too bad.
