The Night We Met - Lord Huron
The darkness begins to fade and I feel a shiver through my bones as I regain my vision.
They hustle around me. I can’t see their faces. My eyes are fixed on the door before me. I’ve seen this door before but I can’t remember where. I can’t remember anything before now. I take several steps closer, before reaching out to touch it. It’s real.
I can feel her. It all begins to rush back to me. My soul begins to simmer inside my skin. Fear is outweighed by an overwhelming need to satisfy the sound her heart makes as it beckons out to mine.
I reach for the handle and slowly turn it, fearful that I’ll be met with emptiness on the other side.
I stand, feet planted in the doorway, as the door slowly swings open.
Her bridal suite is softly lit from the red and orange sky outside the window. She sits at her vanity combing her hair when our eyes connect in the reflection in front of her.
She smiles and slowly turns looking coyly at me.
“You came for me.”
The End.
