Chapter 6 Youre Jealous.
Chapter 6
"You're Jealous."
The room felt unbearably tense.
Naina stood near the doorway, perfectly composed on the outside, but the slight tightening of her jaw betrayed her irritation. For years, she had watched Arjun remain emotionally unavailable to everyone around him.
Including his wife.
That was exactly why she had stayed confident.
Because a man like Arjun Oberoi didn't fall apart over love.
Except tonight... he was.
And all because Aadhira wanted to leave him.
Aadhira looked up at Arjun standing in front of her like a wall she couldn't cross. His expression remained controlled, but there was something reckless hidden underneath now.
Something possessive.
"Move," she repeated quietly.
Arjun's eyes held hers for a long second before he spoke.
"Not until we finish this conversation."
A tired laugh escaped her lips. "Conversation? You mean the part where you ignore my feelings until I try to leave?"
His jaw tightened instantly.
Behind them, Naina crossed her arms carefully. "Maybe this isn't the best time for emotional drama."
That sentence finally snapped something inside Arjun.
His eyes turned dangerously cold as he looked at her.
"Leave."
Naina blinked.
"What?"
"I said leave."
The sharpness in his voice stunned both women.
Because Arjun never lost professionalism.
Never.
Especially not with business matters.
Naina recovered quickly, though irritation flickered across her face now. "The board meeting-"
"Can wait."
"The investors-"
"Can wait too."
Silence.
Aadhira stared at him in disbelief.
This was the same man who once left her alone in a hospital waiting room because an international client demanded an urgent meeting.
The same man who canceled their honeymoon dinner halfway through because Singapore investors were calling.
And tonight?
He was ignoring billion-dollar problems for her.
Too late.
Far too late.
Naina studied him carefully now before her gaze slowly shifted toward Aadhira.
Then suddenly-
She smiled.
Small. Sharp. Knowing.
"Oh," she said softly.
Arjun's expression darkened. "What?"
Naina tilted her head slightly. "You're jealous."
The room went still.
Aadhira's breath caught.
Arjun looked genuinely offended by the accusation. "Don't be ridiculous."
Naina almost laughed.
"I've worked with you for over two years," she said calmly. "You barely react emotionally to anything. But tonight?" Her eyes flicked toward Aadhira meaningfully. "You look one second away from killing every man who looks at your wife."
Arjun said nothing.
Which itself was an answer.
Naina's smile faded slightly after that.
Because suddenly this situation was no longer entertaining.
It was real.
Painfully real.
For the first time, she realized Aadhira wasn't just the quiet wife sitting in the background of Arjun's life.
She was the woman capable of destroying his control completely.
And Arjun hated losing control.
Aadhira looked away first, unable to handle the intensity building in the room anymore.
"This is pointless," she whispered. "I'm tired."
She tried walking past him again.
This time Arjun caught her waist before she could move.
Aadhira gasped softly as her back hit his chest.
The movement happened so fast it shocked even her.
"Arjun!" she hissed.
His arm tightened instinctively around her waist.
Not enough to hurt.
Just enough to stop her from leaving.
Naina's expression froze completely.
Because this-
This was not normal.
Arjun Oberoi never touched people affectionately in public or private. Physical affection had always been rare, restrained, almost awkward.
But the way he held Aadhira now looked instinctive.
Possessive.
Like a man terrified of losing something precious.
"Let go of me," Aadhira whispered, her heartbeat completely out of control now.
Arjun lowered his head slightly near her ear.
"No."
The deep roughness in his voice sent heat rushing across her skin instantly.
God.
Why did he suddenly know exactly how to affect her?
Naina looked away briefly, discomfort flashing across her face now. For the first time in years, she felt like the outsider in this marriage.
Not Aadhira.
Aadhira pushed lightly against Arjun's arm. "You're proving my point."
"What point?"
"That you only care now that I'm leaving."
The sentence hit perfectly.
Arjun's grip loosened slightly.
Because once again-
She was right.
Aadhira turned around slowly in his arms, forcing him to face her properly.
Her eyes looked tired.
Hurt.
Beautiful enough to ruin his sanity tonight.
"If I hadn't asked for divorce," she whispered, "would you even be standing here like this?"
Arjun opened his mouth.
Then stopped.
Because he didn't know.
And that terrified him.
The silence between them became answer enough.
Pain flickered across Aadhira's face before she stepped away from him completely this time.
Arjun let her go.
Barely.
Naina watched everything carefully, then finally spoke quietly.
"You should've noticed earlier."
Arjun's eyes snapped toward her sharply.
But she wasn't mocking him anymore.
She sounded honest.
"She loved you too loudly for a woman who was being ignored," Naina continued softly. "Eventually even loyal people get tired."
Those words landed heavily in the room.
Aadhira looked shocked.
Arjun looked furious.
Not at Naina.
At himself.
Because hearing another person describe his wife's loneliness so clearly made the damage impossible to ignore anymore.
For the first time in years-
Arjun Oberoi realized he might actually lose her.
And suddenly, nothing in the world felt more terrifying than that.
