Chapter 26

I couldn’t fucking believe him! He really shut that car off on me like that, and then it started pouring rain.

I was stuck sitting in the middle of the road.

Anyone could’ve come through and torn me up.

People couldn’t drive when the ground was dry.

They damn sure couldn’t when it was wet.

Sometimes I felt like Savion didn’t think things through.

I understood that he felt some type of way after I didn’t tell him where I was going and didn’t answer his phone call, but there was a better way for him to handle the situation.

That man had me sitting out there for a whole hour in the fucking rain. When the car finally started back up, I took my ass straight back to the house. I wasn’t taking any chances with him. After that, I wasn’t even sure if I was gon’ drive that car again.

By the time I made it home, Savion wasn’t there, so I took my ass into the living room and sat down on the couch to wait for him to bring his black ass home. He was about to get a piece of my mind.

“You need anything?” Geneva asked when she passed the doorway with the vacuum. She had to double back to make sure that she wasn’t tripping when she saw me sitting there.

Savion was too old to still have his mama cooking and cleaning his house. Rightfully, that was my job, but I didn’t even care to take over from her because she looked content doing it. The crazy thing about it was she didn’t even live here. I didn’t know where she stayed at.

“I’m okay. Just waiting for your son to come home.”

“What did he do now?” Sighing, she rested the vacuum against the wall and entered the living room.

I didn’t believe in putting people inside my marriage, regardless of whether it was one I wanted to be in or not.

Everything Zayden was doing behind my back, I didn’t tell anyone.

I didn’t want to run my mouth, angry with him, and then they ended up hating him just for me to be right back with him.

I kept my mouth shut when it came to shit like that.

Now, when I ended the shit, that was a different story.

“I just want to talk to him, that’s all.”

“Uh-huh. I know my son. He probably did something to piss you off. I hope you knock him upside that big-ass head of his too. Knock some sense into him.”

I about need to.

I snickered.

“Well, I’ll leave you to it.”

Geneva disappeared with her vacuum, and I could hear it running somewhere down the hallway. Getting up from the sofa, I headed to the garage. From where I stood, I saw Savion coming down the road on the cameras to the house, so I opened the garage and stepped out.

His tires screeched against the wet pavement when he saw me standing there, drenched in the rain. My chest heaved as I stared at the windshield of his car. The wipers moved violently so that he could see.

The door to his car opened, and he stepped out. “What the hell are you doing?”

It was raining so hard that I could barely see. I marched over to where he stood and said, “You shut the fucking car off!”

“If I don’t teach you respect, you’ll never respect me. Go in the garage before you get sick.”

“No!” My chest heaved as I stared at him. The rain soaked his shirt. His chiseled frame could be seen poking underneath.

“Solei . . .”

“I said no!” I closed the gap between us.

No matter what he did, I wanted to hate this man. I wanted him to be a monster and give me a reason to not like him, but the more time I spent around him, I slowly fell for him. He knew exactly what he was doing when he gave me that sixty-day deadline. He knew I wouldn’t be able to resist him.

Water droplets covered his glasses. My eyes zoomed in on the water resting on his lips. Fuck. I couldn’t take it anymore. Gripping him by the back of the neck, I brought his lips to mine. They were so soft, like some pillows. Our tongues intertwined together.

“Mmm.” A moan escaped my lips.

Thunder roared in the distance, causing me to jump.

I released Savion’s lips, breathless. He gawked at me.

I was supposed to be angry with him for leaving me in the middle of the street, and here I was, ready to fuck him right here in the driveway.

Without uttering another word, I scampered back into the garage and headed for my bedroom.

Soon as I got inside, I shut the door behind me and stripped out of my wet clothes.

I wrapped myself in a towel and grabbed my phone and then went into the closet for some privacy.

Going to Imani’s name, I pressed the phone icon and took a seat on the floor while it rang in my ear.

Soon as she picked up, I said, “I think I’m falling for Savion. ”
