Sneak Peek Curse of the Dragon Heir

A headstrong Fae mage accidentally sets a mysterious evil demon free but he may be the key to unlocking her powers…

“Are you mated yet?” His voice was gruff but deeply rich.

Soleia shot him a glare. “That’s none of your business.”

The three warrior females exchanged looks.

Oh, great, Soleia thought in derision. Now they were probably going to start rumors about her and the demon. Just what she needed right now. “Thank you for your help.” She dismissed the females with a wave before hanging up her cloak and turning back to fix her hair.

His scrutiny was unnerving her and also making her stomach do somersaults.

Stupid stomach. What the hell was wrong with her anyway? He was a cursed, dangerous demon that would destroy them all with one swish of his claws if given half the chance.

She cleared her throat, hurrying to finish grooming so she could exit the cramped indoor space, feeling a bit more cramped than before.

“Let me free.”

Her eyebrows rose in incredulity at his words. “So you can kill me and everyone I know?”

He visibly swallowed hard. “I won’t.”

Soleia gave him a dull look. “Right.”

His forehead creased in aggravation. “You don’t even know who I am! How do you know it’s justified to hold me against my will? How do you know you’re not in the wrong here?”

“Look, the only wrong thing I did today was take too long at that dumb wraith forest. I should have ridden faster, fought harder. I should have just left some of the smaller wraiths alone. If I could have just put them to sleep, I could’ve—” She stopped short, blowing out a frustrated breath.

His eyes narrowed. “I thought you handled yourself quite well.”

She gave him a deadpan look. “I know exactly what you’re doing. You’re trying to ply me with compliments so that I’ll feel sorry for you or something and maybe release you from Oma’s binding spell. But I’m not that dumb, Curse Boy.”

He blinked like he didn’t expect her to figure that out and he merely huffed in displeasure and looked away.

Soleia smirked. She was quite enjoying having so much power over him. “What kind of a dumb demon gets trapped on a tree anyway? And then to finally get free of the tree, only to get trapped by a necklace! Is this only the second curse that’s been put on you? Or have there been more?”

That set him off.

He growled again, grabbing her by the shoulders and pinning her back against the wall.

She almost rolled her eyes at his futile intimidation efforts. Did he forget one word from her would send him doubling over? She met his gaze, undaunted. “You didn’t scare me before. You definitely don’t now.”

He roared, leaning close to her face. He was clearly displeased, infuriated. “Mark my words,” he rasped. “This spell will break. And when that time comes, I guarantee you, you will be scared. And then you will die.”

“Right, whatever. But until then, Curse Boy, your life belongs to me.” Soleia gave him a shove to push away but he pressed harder.

He was focused on her mouth. “Dathon,” he growled. “My name is Dathon.”

He spoke near her face. His freshly-showered scent was almost hypnotizing, overwhelming. Her chest heaved against his in her struggle to breathe and he must have noted her heart pounding. His incensed gaze seared into her.

Soleia blinked her senses back into focus and threw up her hands. “Fine!” And at her concession, he let her shrug him off. “Whatever.”
