Chapter 3 Elder Brother Visits

Sister-in-law saw me and immediately smiled:

"Zhang Lin, we will be bothering you from now on."

"What does it mean?" I asked confusedly.

"Aren't you out of Confinement Period? My shop is busy, I can't take care of my wife and child from now on."

What?

Make me, a woman who just finished Confinement Period, take care of an infant born one week ago and his wife who had just given birth?

Was he out of his mind?

"Elder Brother, is your brain working properly? I can barely take care of myself, you want me to take care of your wife and child?"

"I know, you can't do it alone. Let your mother help us. She helped you during Confinement Period, right? Let her help us again."

Ha!

Make my mother take care of his wife during Confinement Period?

What kind of shameless person would say such things?

"Died your mother? Or your wife died? Or did you die yourself? Why make my mother do this?"

I cursed loudly. Who were these people anyway!

His wife only gave birth to a son—not an emperor—and now everyone had to revolve around him?

Even my mother had to serve them?

"You watch your mouth."

The Zhang Lin who had been silent until now finally spoke up angrily.

"We're doing you a favor. Your house is so small—we didn't want to come anyway."

"Then get out," I pointed at the door.

Just then, Mother-in-law screamed from somewhere:

"You dare tell someone else to leave?"

"This is my son's house. Nobody else gets to decide who lives here. I say who stays, and they stay."

So all of them came together?

What honor was my humble home receiving today?

I remembered how we invited Elder Brother, Zhang Lin, and Mother-in-law at New Year to warm up our new house.

They all declined, saying they were too busy.

Later Mother-in-law said they weren't actually busy—they thought our house was too messy and poor, and worst of all, we would have to give Red Packet when visiting us.

Zhang Lin noticed my silence and tried to diffuse the situation:

"Zhang Lin, it is truly because my work is too busy. I won't let your mother work for free. We will pay her. She only needs to take care of my wife. My mother and you can share childcare duties. Isn't that fair?"

I laughed angrily. He was already planning everything out!

"Elder Brother, did you discuss this with Zhang Lin?"
